About Loretta Marie

Welcome to 'Paris on the Beach.' I'm Loretta Marie and I'm so happy you found me on VRBO. Ever since I was a small child growing up in Southern California amongst a wonderful, large family, I always loved going to the beach. Unfortunately many of those beaches were the flat, heavily populated type like Santa Monica in L.A. and Huntington and Newport Beach in Orange County.

But the flat, crowded beaches of LA and Orange County would become a thing of the past as I came to discover Encinitas with my older brothers during a small surfing trip.

When we first drove up the hill on Old Highway 101 near La Costa Ave., I immediately fell in love as we entered the Encinitas coastal area and so I knew right then... that I would some day live in this beautiful town.

Encinitas felt like 'Hometown USA on the Beach with towering eucaliptus trees, unique shops and reataurants, and with a laid back, Hawian, North Shore kind of feel. The beaches were amazingly beautiful with large bluffs, two large lagoons, and of course it boasted incredible waves. I knew right then and there that someday soon, I would return to live here.

So a few years later, I came back to start my college years in north coastal San Diego and have stayed here in the Encinitas area ever since; enjoying all the water activities, restaurants, and it's terrific, small town beach atmoshphere.

Loretta Marie purchased this house in 1985

Why Loretta Marie chose San Diego County

I chose to purchase this wonderful duplex property because it was located only 5 houses to Stone Steps Beach and near the ever popular, Moonlight Beach. It was the most charming beach home I had ever seen with each home having it's own unique style and amazing outdoor living spaces that make beach living so wonderful.

What makes this house unique

When I first entered the property, I was taken by the amazing yard that was virtually hidden from the street. The secured entrance gate and fenced in yard allowed tremendous privacy and a tranquil setting that made me immediately feel like I was on a relaxing vacation. The large, beautiful coral tree, grass, and charming alcove patio area made me never want to leave. I became even more surprised when I realized the property had another completely separate home with another private yard that was equally impressive and each with it's own unique style that felt like home in each their own way. I immediately put in an offer and ultimately became a homeowner for the first time making my beach front living dream come true. To this day, it is my favorite place to be and is where I spent the rest of my years with my husband while raising our three beautiful children. Recently, we made both homes of the duplex vacation rentals (VRBO # 479554 & 480169) so that they could be enjoyed throughout the year by family and friends as we began to travel and do home exchanges with friends in Europe. Recently, I came to realize that this wonderful beach property should be shared with even more wonderful folks who could also use a well desrved vacation at the beach. I felt it was implortant to provide all our favorite games and beach equipment so that travelers and friends would only need to pack their clothes and a bathing suit.

Although my family has traveled to many far away places throughout the world including the incredible sites in the streets of Paris, France, our favorite place has always been right here in Encinitas at our very own, 'Paris on the Beach.'

I can not tell you how happy it makes me feel to share this wonderful home with you, my next guest, at the beautiful, 'Paris on the Beach.' Enjoy...

Beautiful home, perfect location, great hot tub!!!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 had an amazing time at Paris on the Beach! The pictures really don't do the place justice. It was so cozy and peaceful. It was also laid out really nicely. We opted for the 3 bedroom so the kids had one side of the place and we had the other. Very quite for us! We also love the hot tub! We used it every day. Being so close to restaurants and the beach was wonderful. Can't wait to go back!

Owner's Response: Hello Eric, I'm so glad you had a good time staying at my home. Being just few houses away from the beach and then having a warm soak in the hot tub after a swim each day in the ocean seems to always be a big hit with my guests. Thank you for taking good care of "Paris on the Beach." You are always welcome to and I look forward to your return. You and the girls might want to try out the three soft top long boards with out needing a wetsuit during the summer. Last summer the water temperature got up to 73 degrees. So cheers to family vacations at the coolest little beach town on the west coast and in the comfort of your new home away from home, "Paris on the Beach." My best always, Loretta

Our family had a lovely time at this property this summer. The house was nicely decorated, clean, well appointed, and best of all super close to the beach. The deck area was beautiful and lovely for entertaining and was generously furnished with ping pong, outdoor cooking areas, lots of boogie boards and surfboards and loads of towels. Our teens were able to walk to the beach, get the train to downtown San Diego, and access shops and coffee all in walking distance. We thoroughly enjoyed the house, proximity to the beach and Loretta was a graceous host answering all of our questions. Well be back!

Owner's Response: I'm so glad you and your family had a good time and enjoyed the many amenities like ping pong, the outdoor patio, and of course being only a few houses away from the beach. The long soft surfboards and boogie boards are always a hit with the teens as is the large teen room in the back. The train, restaurants, and shops are also a real plus and I'm so happy the kids could easily walk to them all. Next summer, I am looking to open up another large section in the back for an even larger patio area to enjoy. Looking forward to your return and please let me know if you would like to add on the other home for your extended family and make it a larger family reunion as many of my return guests do. As a return guest, you receive a few additional benefits that you can discuss when you are ready with dates for next year. Warm regards always, Loretta

Wonderful, right by the beach!

  • 5 of 5

I had a group of 10 people stay here for Labor day weekend and we had a fabulous time. The house was wonderful, the patio was great, and the vicinity to Stone Steps beach is AMAZING (about a 1 minute walk) from the front door. Loretta is very gracious and easy to work with! I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a wonderful spot right near the beach!

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing to stay at my beach home and so glad you and your friends had a great time enjoying some of the best beaches and surf breaks in Southern California. The outdoor patio area is always a hit with all my guests. as is being so ridiculously close to the beach, I'm so happy that all of your friends were able to make it. It was truly a mini reunion for you. I am thrilled to have been able to accommodate your large group in comfort with the spaciousness that my beach house offers. What a great group of friends you have...You and your buddies did a great job taking care of "Paris on the Beach' and so of course you are all welcome back anytime. Looking forward to your next visit and cheers to good friends and to good times at the beach...All my best, Loretta

Perfect for us!

  • 5 of 5

We have been staying in Mission Beach for the last 5 years for little beach getaways. This April we had a hard time finding one and booked this gem in Encinitas. I was a little nervous as really didn't know what to expect. The pics were great, but you never really know if they match up. Yes! They did! The house is roomy and has everything you need for entertaining. We were either at the beach or in the house. The outdoor area is what makes it so grand. I spent 95% of the time there. The pingpong table kept my kids entertained for hours! Loretta is helpful and relaxed. Love the proximity to the beach! Encinitas is a little more family friendly than

Mission. Looks like we have a new place!!

Worst home I have ever rented

  • 1 of 5

My family and I stayed in this home last year. Upon arrival, the owner was still trying to clean it up. It was extremely dirty and smelled. The Jacuzzi was green. The owner lives on the premises, but fails to disclose that in her advertisement. She was constantly in our face and very nosy. The furniture outside is very rotted and when one of the children leaned on a stand it broke into. The bedroom furniture was also the same, and a futon bed broke. We decided to leave early, because we were so disappointed in our rental. The owner refused to compensate any money back and kept our security deposit. If you are considering renting this house, my suggestion would be to do a walk through first and take the time to meet the owner.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your original interest to rent my home. Normally I take the time to speak with my guests before entering into a rental agreement even when guests as yourself pay through the immediate booking choice which still allows 24 hours for me to choose whether a guest is suited for my home. It was one of only three times that I did not take the time to speak first with the guest before approving a rental agreement. Throughout the process, you failed to sign the actual agreement timely. In fact you did not return the signed rental agreement until only a few days prior to arrival even though you were requested to for several months.. When you arrived, you must have failed to actually read the agreement or simply ignored the provisions as you arrived two hour early while the BBQ was being polished and the spa being cleaned and refilled from the last guest's use that just checked out that same morning. The spa is cleaned and refilled with every tenant's arrival which takes a lot of work. This is done for the safety of all my guests of which almost no other owner takes the time to do. Most do it only once a month. My spa gets drained, cleaned, and refilled with bromine instead of chlorine once a week. After arriving early, you insisted you were on time until I showed you the rental agreement you signed and all the printed rules already in a frame inside the home. I learned from your invited guests and some of the children who arrived to the home before you demanding the key and without proper documentation, that you were having a party that evening that you planned with many more guests arriving and is why you arrived early. You chose to deny what your guests already confirmed. One of your invited kids had jumped on a table and several were also sliding down the out door banister/rail to the stairway. The child later jumped down off the loft bed onto the futon right in front of me when I was showing you around the home and how it had been cleaned and well prepared for your arrival and that only the BBQ and spa was being finished up only because you had arrived too early. You and all your guests were told by me that they could not jump on the furniture and no other guests were allowed. The rental is disclosed as a duplex with the other VRBO # listed to allow you to preview it and book it as well. I do not live there but sometimes choose to vacation there as do other guests. I reported you broke items to VRBO only two days after arrival.

Some friends and I just spent a lovely week in Encinitas at Paris on the Beach. After a day of surfing and enjoying the beach, my favorite time was to come home and jump into the hot tub on the deck area! We spent most of our time on the well equipped deck either grilling dinner, in the hot tub, reading, eating around the shaded table, or playing one of the fun board games from the house. The home is also just a short walk to the beach... what a great place to be at sunset every night! Sometimes we went for a beach stroll, and sometimes we just stayed at the top of the stairs enjoying the beauty! Also, so close to great restaurants! The owner gave a friendly welcome to my dogs! I can't wait to return!!! Thanks Loretta!
