About Linda Kleinschmit
Three generations of Kleinschmits have lived in the house, which was built in 1947. We are pleased to share our home with you, as you will see by the pictures, toys and other sundry items reminiscent of our family. Please let us know if you have any questions. Martin has a wealth of information about the history of the area as well as places to see.
Linda Kleinschmit purchased this Farmhouse in 1944
Why Linda Kleinschmit chose Hartington
This is the home for the Kleinschmits. It has been a home filled with love and laughter, and many memories. Our children will not be farming, but love to bring our grandchildren to the farm, and they love coming! We want to give them a chance to run around and know what a farm is, have the freedom to be away from the hubbub of the city for a few weeks. We also love having Martin's family visit and reminisce. It is a house to be shared and we hope others will have fond memories of staying here.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
It's a great location to visit some of the villages along the Missouri, Yankton, go swimming and boating at Lewis and Clark Lake. Vermillion, SD, only 35 miles northeast has some wonderful eateries and breweries and is home of a famous music museum. If you're interested in seeing churches and their architecture, there are some spectacular ones, starting with Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Bow Valley, just a few miles southeast. Be sure to visit the Nissen Winery, just 2 miles southeast, open on weekends.

For our family, kids and grandkids this was an excellent place to stay and to enjoy!
The property was everything it was advertised. If there was anything we needed it was at the property.
We hope that our guests will let us know if there is something they need and we will do what we can provide it. We note what we need/want when our family stays at a vacation rental to inform us as to what we can do for our guests. We also welcome suggestions.
It was great to be able to have a large group of family members staying together in one house. I was thinking it was a little closer to Yankton, but it worked ok.
The house does work well for families to stay together, as well as have large family dinners. It is 20 minutes from Yankton and a little further to Lewis & Clark recreation area. The farm is within 10-15 miles to Hartington, Crofton, Wynot, Coleridge and other small communities in the area, plus it's only 35 miles from Vermillion, SD and Ponca State Park.
We held our writer's weekend retreat here and it was perfect for us to work and focus on our writing and sharing with each other, enough room for us to gather and to also go off and write by ourselves. We would recommend it.
Holly and her friends were perfect guests. They left the house spotless. They each left us a note of thanks, which is so kind. We definitely recommend this group and hope they will stay with us again.
Nice large farm house with character
We really enjoyed our stay at the FarmHouse. We had a larger group for our family Christmas and the place was large enough to accommodate all of us. Linda was fantastic working with us prior to check-in and making sure we had everything we needed. It was cool being in the farm house as it remined us all of being in our Grandparents farm house. Sun room was really nice and provided a little extra room for the kids to hang out. The adults took some time to take the very short drive over to the Outlaw winery and had a very nice time there as well. Overall it was a great place to stay.
We are so pleased the FarmHouse Inn worked for the Jansen family Christmas gathering. They were very easy to communicate with and left the house in great shape. I enjoyed meeting Del and would love to have them come again. Being able to accommodate family celebrations and community/organization's gatherings is why we love being hosts and sharing our home.
Very nice, very clean. We would definitely stay again.
Need more things to do outside like horseshoes or Cornhole. Outside around the place should be made more inviting.
Comfortable beds, nice accommodations and we had a great time.
We enjoyed having Jeff and his family stay at the FarmHouse Inn. We appreciate his suggestions and we are working on improving the area around the house. As this is our first year, we are still learning. We definitely want guests to be very candid and give us recommendations for ways to make it their stay more comfortable..
FarmHouse Inn is on the Outlaw Trail in Northeast Nebraska, bordering Yankton, SD. It is in the rolling hills, farm country, with many small rural towns. The Nissen Wineyard is 1.5 miles from us! The closest town is Hartington, which has a beautiful 9 hole golf course, several restaurants, bars and grocery store. Vermillion and Yankton,SD are within 20-30 min. and have a number of excellent restaurants, movies theaters, museums, art galleries and other places to visit. The Missouri River and Lewis & Clark Lake at Yankton, SD offer many opportunities for fishing and water sports. Love to have you stay with us and discover Northeast Nebraska!
