Old Town Kenai Bluff House, Breathtaking Views

Bedrooms 4
Space 2,424 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 3 nights

About the property

4 Bedrooms, 2 Bathroom Beautiful view overlooking the Mouth of Kenai River

Kenai Bluff House is located in downtown historic Kenai. The house was built in 1935, and bought by my grandparents in 1947. My dad was raised in this house! Of course, the house has been remodeled and has all the modern conveniences, but has a wonderful and rich family history. The home has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, a fully stocked kitchen and plenty of room for your whole family.

The property has a large lawn and outdoor furniture for enjoying the stunning view of Cook Inlet. You can watch the fishing boats come and go with the tide. Eagles often land right on the lawn as they are out cruising for their next ocean meal.

Kenai is a small town and the “downtown” is quaint and quiet. The home is located at the end of a residential street. It is located next door to Erik Hansen Scout Park, a small community park and contains a bronze statue of a Boy Scout overlooking the Cook Inlet. Interpretive displays point out many physical features of the landscape and a memorial plaque is attached to the base of the statue. Park includes few trees, some shrubs, two flower gardens, and a gravel walkway leading to the bluff’s edge. This is a great area just to sit, relax and enjoy the extensive views over the lower Cook Inlet, tidal lands, and mouth of the Kenai River.

We are located within walking distance of the historical Russian Orthodox Church and Kenai Visitor and Convention Center which has a historical walking tour available within this area. This property is on the walking tour, as The Showalter House (#10) !!

There are several nice places to eat where you can walk as well.

Reasonable rates per night for four people. No separate cleaning fee. However, guests must not leave fish remains on property. Cleaning fee applies if fish remains are left on property.

About Jennifer and Jason Yeoman

This house was past down to me from my dad. He was raised in this house along with all his siblings in only 4 rooms including the kitchen, which did not have a bathroom or a living room.

I was born and raised on the Kenai Peninsula as well and Jason was born in Nome and has lived on the Kenai Peninsula since 1994.

We lived in this house with our growing family and loved being so close to town, but feeling like being out of town.

We hope to share our culture with you as I, Jennifer, am part Dena'ina Athabaskin and Jason is part Inupiaq.

Jennifer and Jason Yeoman purchased this house in 1947

Why Jennifer and Jason Yeoman chose Kenai Peninsula

The view that you will have from this property is amazing! You can see all three mountains, Mt. Spurr, Mt. Redoubt and Mt. Iliamna! The sunrise and sun sets are seen from this property, and are incredible, especially in the winter months! You can see the dip net fishery in the month of July, as well as all entire commercial fishing boats coming in and out of the river with the various openings. If you are lucky, you might see a beluga or two and you will definitely see seagulls and eagles flying and landing on the bluff!

Alaska has endless places to visit and see! We have tried to bring some of it to the rooms for you to enjoy. Any questions that you may have about what Alaska has to offer you we would be happy to help with!

What makes this house unique

The land of the midnight sun can bring much light that many people are not use to. The rooms have black out blinds that help people who need a little extra help to go to sleep. The house is located on a street which is closed to through traffic, therefore is very quiet!

Just as described, beautiful view, great location

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in The Kenai Bluff house. It was clean and well represented in the pictures. Easy to find location and reasonable price for our group. I would definitely come back and stay. Only complaint is that owner isn't great at communication. I never received any information about getting into the house and had to call owner to get the door code. It took a bit to hear back from them but all worked out.

Great accomadations for a large group

  • 5 of 5

Bluff House is ideally located in the town of Kenai. We chose it because of its size with ample room for our planned party of 8+ people. The view overlooking the Inlet is lovely and it was nice to be in Oldtown Kenai within walking distance of everything. There were a few things we needed upon arrival (toaster, vacuum, help with getting the internet running) but Jennifer and Jason responded quickly and furnished us with everything we needed. The house was big and comfortable and perfect for a large group. I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect for Family Gatherings!

  • 4 of 5

I would highly recommend this home for any family vacation! We couldn't believe the view! It was perfectly situated on the edge of town, close to stores and restaurants, but still so private you didn't hardly notice you were in town.

The rooms were spacious, yet cozy. The beds were comfortable. The living space was roomy for our extra guests, as we had a gathering after a wedding. If you're needing a spot with room for overflow, this is it!

In addition, everything was in order when we arrived. The management made sure we had our entry code, so no problems with our arrival.

I would have given you a 5 star if it weren't for these specific details: I would have really enjoyed some newer, fresher towels, a wine-opener, and just a few more kitchen utensils for preparing food. Also, we couldn't get the DVD player to work. Other than that, this place is spectacular! Thanks so much for making our stay amazing! We will definitely return!

Five Guys

  • 5 of 5

We have been going to Alaska for the last 21 years. We lost cabin that we stayed at for the last five years and were looking for another place to stay. We need a place that had five beds. Two bathes was a bonus. We came across the Bluff House and it seemed too good to be true. It was not! It has everything we could ask for and more. At first sight, we all said the same thing. "Our wives would love this place" Just as comfortable as home with a great view. Have already reserved for next year.

Great place with great views

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time and love the yard and views. Our second time to visit.

Internet and cable didn't work, which would have been nice once kids were asleep, but that didn't really matter.

Would recommend to anyone
