About Steve Kellar

My wife and I have been sharing our 'slice of heaven' for 33 years.

Steve Kellar purchased this cottage in 1984

Why Steve Kellar chose Michigan

Unlike many lake properties where the cabins are close to one another, Silver Rock will give you the feel of the only cottage on the entire lake. Another cottage cannot be seen from our shore.

What makes this cottage unique

One visit to Silver Rock will give you that true 'up north' feeling. Lake Huron is approx. 3 miles away and there are smaller Trout streams in any direction. The American Indians referred to this area as 'Sacred Land'. It is the ideal location for outdoor lovers and sportsman. Owner lives next door to help out when at all possible....

Exactly what our family needed.

  • 4 of 5

Our stay at Lake Ocqueoc was a perfect get-a-way! The cabin was clean, cozy and has a beautiful view. We enjoyed fishing and taking trips around the lake on the paddle boat. When weather wasn't ideal we watched collage football and played board games. At night sitting by the bonfire, star gazing and listening to the big fish jump was a great way to end the day. Steve and Vickie were great host and made it easy planing this trip. They suggested several local activities. Our day trip to Mackinac Island was a easy 40min (from the cabin) drive along Lake Huron. On our way home we stoped at Ocqueoc Falls and Knaebe's Cider Mill. This little piece of Michigan heaven is worth the stay. We plan to go back and maybe catch the "big one"!

Comfortable! Charming! Clean!

  • 5 of 5

Amazingly sweet little cabin with a lake view and access. The entire grounds and cabin are impeccably maintained. Hosts are very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the Oqueac Falls and the well maintained hiking trails there. The 40 mile lighthouse was interesting, especially being able to see how the keeper and his family lives. Make sure you go to the very top if you are able as the view is amazing! Walking along the Lake Huron shore beach combing was relaxing and calming as you entered into the rhythm

of the waves. There is so much to see and do in that area and coming back each evening to such a cozy, comfortable cottage was exactly what we needed. Thanks Steve and Vickie for sharing your slice of heaven with us!

The cabin was exactly as described. We had a wonderful time exploring the area and relaxing at the cabin. The owners were great! Steve and Vickie were very friendly and helpful, we really enjoyed talking to them. The kids had an awesome time fishing and playing on grounds, even though the weather was not the best. It was just what we needed! Thank you.

So peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Great lil cottage on the lake. Fishing wasn't the greatest, but the lake is beautiful and so peaceful as a no wake lake. For those needing internet, cell signal, etc this is not the place for you. For those wanting relaxation & to disconnect, which was us, it is the perfect place. As other reviews mentioned, the owners do live right next door but you would never know it & when you do run into them, they are the nicest folks ever. We truly had no complaints. :-)

Owner's Response: Tony and Ginger, It was a pleasure meeting you folks! Regarding cell service, as mentioned somewhere in our listing, Verizon service works well but unfortunately, most others do not. Thank you for pointing this out as it could make a difference to some travelers.

Peaceful, quiet, very clean cabin, & great hosts Steve and Vickie. Fishing was outstanding! Views of lake are great. Many birds to enjoy watching and listening to. Perfect getaway for folks looking to get away from the rat race of town and work. We really enjoyed our stay.
