The Property was perfect for our family mini vacation. The scenery is gorgeous and the home provides all the amenities you need. The big grass area in the front was perfect for hiding easter eggs for my 2 year old daughter. We will definitely stay again the next time we come to the area.
Best possible stay
We were four women coming from 3 different states for a reunion. This was so much better than a hotel. It is a beautiful setting, accommodations lacked nothing. There are even nice serving pieces in kitchen for "special occasion" meal. The home is clean and well maintained. There were plenty of clean linens and all possible amenities we needed. The setting was relaxing and quiet, with town/shopping close by. So many possible excursions and activities also nearby. I wish it were closer to my personal residence as I would definitely visit often.
Stayed in August 2017 and it was great. Very comfortable Quiet home. All the rooms are nice and big. Nice deck with a BBQ out back and a fire pit. You're just a few minutes from Crescent City and right next to Jedediah Smith State Park. The Gas station/store on hwy 199 is close by and fuel prices were just as good as in town. The visitors center on hwy 199 is also close by. They have good info and maps on the park. Stout Grove is easy walking ( wide pathways for everybody to move around ) . The Hiouchi Trail ( not sure of the distance...has some minor elevation gain ) takes you from Stout Grove along the Smith River ( watch for kayakers ) to the Hatton Trail ( which moves away from the river ) and to the Hatton Loop Trail. Simpson-Reed/Peterson Memorial loop Trail is another easy walk. For those wanting a really good hike, the Boy Scout Tree Trail is about 5 miles out and back with some moderate elevation gain ( We were on this trail during the solar eclipse...So Cool ! ). The Boy Scout Tree and Fern Falls at the end make a nice reward for your effort. In Crescent City the Visitors Center on Front St also has some good info ( best times to go out to the lighthouse ). The Good Harvest Cafe on hwy 101, south side of town just past Elk Valley Rd, has very good food. Natural ingredients, and Gluten free Bread is available. Overall, whatever you do you'll enjoy it. Never tire of the Redwoods and the Ocean.
In the heart of the redwoods, perfect start to day hikes.
This was a great house! Spacious entertaining area. Great kitchen with plenty of supplies for cooking and dining. Private master with an outstanding master bath. Great outdoor space. Great for families or friends!
Spotless and comfortable
Mike went out of his way to be helpful, but without being intrusive. Stay here: central to Redwood hiking and glorious uncrowded beaches. You will not be disappointed.
