Comfortable and spacious

  • 4 of 5

This house was very spacious and comfortable for the 7(4 adults, 2 teens, and 1 child) of us that stayed there. It’s location is great!! Close to Jedediah Smith State Park for exploring the amazing Redwoods, close to Crescent City for going to the beach, and close to the Smith River where fishing and swimming is awesome! The house was clean and Mike was very prompt to respond to any questions that we had.

We had a wonderful time and it was a great place to stay!!

Really nice, but....

  • 4 of 5

The drive way approach is easy to miss and a little tough to negotiate at first. After a few days, we were used to it and it was not a problem, but then we checked out.

The picture is a bit miss leading. "Beautiful Home Located On The..." Yes, it is true. The property is a river front property. The picture makes one think that you would see a view. In real life, the river was not actually visible from the property. River access was a 15 minute walk from the house at a public boat launch. We put our kayaks in and made the float down to the park. Great Fun!!

The house was spotless and modern. Board games were in the library. I think there may have been some video games, also. We were busy each day exploring the redwoods and river by day that we were early to bed each night. It was very roomy and had a living room and a den with separate entertainment centers.....the kids could watch their cartoons. The kitchen was well equipped. A bottle of wine was provided on the counter and there were some food items such as pancake mix, oil and other items. The refrigerator worked well to keep the sodas and beer cold. Ice cubes were no problem. The washer and dryer were nice and the laundry room was roomy and easy after we changed the provided light bulb. (extra light bulbs were in a storage cabinet) Charcoal was on hand as well as lighter fluid to BBQ burgers. We did not use the fire pit, even though wood was supplied, but it would have been nice if we had stayed longer.

There was very slow WIFI that worked most of the time, if only one or two people were checking their emails at the same time. We were on vacation so it was not a problem.

The location was handy to Crescent City shopping for food and dining.

We did enjoy the house and would stay there again, especially if we had more time. The grounds were private and there was ample room, lawn chairs and things were very tidy. The area was very safe and secure. We had no worries about our kayaks and gear left in the yard while we were out hiking.

Spacious home

  • 5 of 5

A clean, comfortable, and spacious home, with nice large rooms. Nearby Stout Grove and Simpson-Reed Grove trails are both beautiful, and I also recommend the Smith River swimming hole at Myrtle Beach. My only comment is that a fan in each bedroom would be a nice addition: even with cool nights, and AC in the main part of the house, the bedrooms were stuffy.

Great location for hiking. Very comfortable home.

  • 5 of 5

This house is very spacious, with a big living room and den. The kitchen is suitable for cooking for a large family. The master bedroom is separated from the rest of the house for great privacy. We enjoyed the fire pit in the backyard. There are many trails close by for hiking. We have stated this home twice now and look forward to returning again.
