About this property

Private 65-Acre Prairie Retreat with 3.5 Miles of Trails

Enjoy a hilltop view of the countryside and sounds of nature when you stay in this unique setting. Located on 65+ acres of private prairie, reserved for pollinators, wildlife and you. Over three miles of walking trails with numerous sites to stop for reading, napping, stargazing, meditating in complete privacy. Ideal for those needing some time far from society, undisturbed. Unplug your devices and reconnect with what matters to you most.

Imagine one square mile of land, 640 acres, and making a home site right in the middle. That is the placement of this 2024 camper. Extreme privacy.

During your stay you have access to 65 acres of native prairie with three miles of walking trails. The surrounding land is in low intensity grazing and hay production.

If you have mountain bikes or fat tire e bikes, they can be used on the trails. Also, explore countless miles of gravel country roads.

Coordinate your arrival time with the host. Someone is always available and arrival times are flexible.

Bring everything you need. The nearest town of consequence for shopping is 30 minutes away. If you forget something, contact the host. We are well stocked to avoid unnecessary trips to town and can probably provide what you need.

For weekends, you are encouraged to book Friday thru Sunday. You will not want to leave and can then stay until nightfall Sunday. You may even decide to stay Sunday night. Get up at the crack of dawn for coffee under the stars before reluctantly returning to civilization. Just sayin'.

Host is located one half mile away. Someone is always in attendance. Message if there are any issues, or hike on down the hill and knock on the door.

The last 2.5 miles getting here are gravel roads. A half mile two-track across the prairie gets you to the camper. It's accessible in any vehicle except a low clearance sports car. If that's all you have, or in extremely wet conditions, the host will provide transportation the last half mile up the hill.

Campfires are permitted except when conditions are too dry and/or windy.

This "Couples Coach" camper will support a young child depending on your circumstances and length of stay.

The kitchen is equipped with just about everything you'll need for preparing meals, morning coffee, etc. Just ask if you have an additional need. I probably have it.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

This was a great set-up! Mark had the RV set up on the back of his property with water and electrical and sewage hook-ups, so there were no worries of running out of water or filling up the gray and blackwater tanks. It had all the comforts of an apartment or an RV Park, but with the total seclusion of boondocking (truly, I had to drive a half mile up a dirt road through a field to get to it). Sweeping views and lots of quiet. Mark was very available if there were issues, but I didn't have any problems. If you have a vehicle that cannot navigate the field road up to the rental, Mark can shuttle you there. There were lots of mowed trails on the property for quiet walks. I saw deer every time I went for a walk, and once right outside the kitchen window as I was cooking breakfast. This was the perfect place to escape the city for rest and quiet. I highly recommend it (unless it gets too popular for me to book for a retreat again... then.... nooooo . . . don't do it. . . . you won't like it . . . ) But you'll love it. It was awesome. I'll share.

After years of travel and relocation for work, I settled into a very rural area of Southeast Kansas. I enjoy the wide open spaces, peace and quiet, and stacks of books.

Why they chose this property

The surrounding land is in low intensity agricultural use. Producing hay and grazing cattle. Very few homes, very few people.
