I first want to say that I commend anyone who is willing to rent out their beautiful Colorado home to strangers; however with that said IF you are willing to rent your home, please try to get to know the individuals you are renting to--the owners sent "numerous" emails to me expressing what me/persons staying with me could do or not do. I admit there was poor communications on my part with the exact number of persons who would be in the house. When I first requested to rent the house, I was very honest when stating the number who would be staying. As the months passed several more were added AND I truly didn't think I needed to tell the owners ALL my plans--AND I knew there were ONLY to be 10 at the most staying at the house. AND there never were. But I felt "threatened" several times when I received emails stating I would be charged extra for additional people. I was also very upset to have to ask IF my sisters/brother in law could come by and visit--NOT stay--they had their own condo. I was told I could not have them at the residence!!
We left the house just as clean as it was when we arrived--the cleaning that was requested was a LOT more than any I've encountered before.
OF course there are great things about this home. Kitchen is very well supplied to cooking items/utensils/dishes etc. The patio views are great; however,, N.Pagosa Blvd is right off the patios and can be a bit noisy in the morning. The view is great--BUT If it is a sunny day--you cannot possibly we on the patios or in the great room/den from 1 pm--7pm. Very very bright--we were wearing our sunglasses inside--and extremely HOT. Owners have fans, which helped--but just be prepared. The nights do cool off some. We knew the house did not have AC, and we were prepared, but I don't think anyone can be prepared for the heat it causes in the big family room during the mentioned hours. Several of the beds are not comfortable--two people roll to the middle--the bottom sheets do not have elastic and you have to totally remake the beds each day. With the security cameras--we felt "watched" and not more secure. The neighborhood is very quiet--except for the nonstop barking dog across N. Pagosa Blvd--it can get annoying at times.
Hans did take care of a matter with the lodge bedroom/bath immediately, which was much appreciated. I truly suggest taking the carpet out of the lodge bedroom/bath due to the smell of mold.
I will continue visiting this great Colorado town!!
