An unlikely pair, Bryan grew up in Marion Center, Pennsylvania where he was raised on the family farm, tending to fields, and hunting and fishing when he got the chance; Jennifer grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, and when she came to Indiana County, PA to attend IUP, she fell in love with the outdoors and never left the area.
Bryan's family has a camp on Wolf Lick, and since he was a child, Bryan grew up fishing the streams in Elk Country, and hunting bear and whitetail deer in the abundant State Game and Forest Lands. Needless to say, Bryan's roots as an outdoorsman run deep, and still today, he is an avid fisherman, hunter, and trapper.
Almost a decade ago, Jennifer was introduced to Elk Country by Bryan's dad, Ed, and the two have put on countless miles photographing elk and sightseeing. Despite growing up in the city, Jennifer developed a deep love for the outdoors, she is an avid trail runner and hiker, and also likes to hunt and fish.
Bryan Lukehart & Jennifer Helman purchased this cabin in 2008
With many fond childhood memories of Elk Country and his family's camp on Wolf Lick Run, Bryan bought the piece of land that Camp Can't Keep Up now sits on around 2005, built by hand with the help of friends and family, Camp Can’t Keep Up has sat alongside the banks of Hicks Run since its completion in 2008.
Bryan cultivated many fond memories with his family, but especially his two children at this cabin over the years, fishing for trout, hunting whitetail deer in the state game lands, elk shed (antler) hunting, biking, cooking over an open fire, and just enjoying the beauty of nature in the Pennsylvania Wilds.
Camp Can't Keep up sits alone on a generous 1.5 acre lot, that is backed by Hicks Run. a well-stocked trout stream. Situated a mile off of the main highway, Hicks Run Road is perfect for running and biking, with very little traffic. The cabin has beautiful mountain views and the porch swings are perfect for drinking your morning coffee and listening to the creek. Kids of all ages love the swings and rope swings! The outdoor cooking area is large enough to accommodate the entire family!
My wife and I looked forward to getting another opportunity to view the elk in Benezette, Pa., our 3rd consecutive year. This is the first year we tried a private cabin. Considering that we didn't know the week we chose was hunting season, we still saw plenty of elk, including a herd of 19 that my wife counted with an enormous bull elk and two smaller bull elks in the herd. The description of a "Rustic Getaway..." probably was unfair as it's much better then rustic, with the many amenities, including a large great room with nice flat screen TV and comfortable rocker, sofa, and love seat. The kitchen had a very nice refrigerator and was very nice overall. The dining area had a nice table with seating for 6. Outside gave a view of a tall mountain, a nice stream, swings to enjoy, and peace and quiet privacy. We did have trouble understanding how to connect to the internet but that problem was solved relatively quickly.
It was a nice touch, and made us feel welcome, with the personalized signed that greeted us.
Dates we stayed: November 1 through November 3rd, 2016.
We would highly recommend Camp Can't Keep Up to our friends and relatives.

We stayed at Camp Keep Up from 10/27 to 10/31. Our adult daughter and son and his family stayed also.
Our grand-kids had a super time while there with the creek and rope swings. The house was clean and roomy. We visited the Elk Center and also some of the elk viewing areas. My wife wanted to hear some bugling and did hear bugling. She was thrilled. The cabin was was well stocked, more than we expected.
Many thanks to Bryan and Jennifer

Stayed at Bryan and Jennifer's cabin for two nights, hoping to see some Pennsylvania elk. We saw over 100 elk, including some massive bulls. Even heard some bugling.
Very nice rustic but yet modern cabin. Got the wood burner stoked up for the cool evenings and relaxed. Out in the mornings for hiking and more elk viewing.
The trip was everything that we hoped it would be.
We spent a few days in Elk County at Camp Can't Keep Up and loved every minute! The cabin was cozy, clean and located in a perfect area for viewing elk, which we were fortunate to see every day! The Hicks Run Viewing Area by far was the best. The locals are friendly despite the nuisance of vacationers stopping whenever an elk is spotted. Looking forward to coming back to Camp Can't Keep Up! We had family in from Georgia and we wanted to take them to see the elk. They were impressed with all of the stuffed animals and loved the " cozy cabin". We definitely were not expecting the huge yard. Although we didn't get to enjoy it much because of the rain! We had a great stay! Thanks Bryan and Jennifer!
The cabin is in a perfect spot. My family loved the rustic décor. My granddaughter loved the creek behind the cabin. It was a dry season, so it was very safe for her in the water. She loves swings, too. So that was a plus. My husband loved the fire pit. I loved the porch swings. There isn't much privacy for sleeping upstairs, but we are all family, so we didn't care a bit. All utensils and pots needed to cook a meal were there. Every evening we rode to Winslow Hill to see the Elk. We weren't disappointed. They were everywhere. Saw quite a few bulls with their harems. I loved to hear them "bugle" to one another. If you love nature, you won't be disappointed in choosing this cabin. The owners where very friendly to my son, who did all the booking. The only downside was, there was a slight odor from being closed up. I know that's to be expected, though. It didn't bother anyone else, but I'm very sensitive to smells, so I minded it a little. We hope to book again next fall. It would be nice to check out things during a summer visit, too. I'll work on that!!! Bryan and Jenn, thanks for sharing your home with us.
