Overview

About the property

Mountain Log Home Between Ponds And Babbling Creek Minutes From Nantahala Lake

'The Ponds at Nantalaha Lake' is a 'Unique Retreat' strategically located as the hub, surrounded by a wheel of incredible activity and tourist gems. Our 3.6 acres are beautifully landscaped to please the senses. The outdoor deck overlooks our pond, continuously fed by a mountain stream, with a refreshing fountain for rustic ambiance. Walking to the middle of the property, you will enjoy the breathtaking view of another quarter acre pond situated with a lovely Smokey Mountain background. Sport fish or simply relax on a few large boulders and muse, read or watch the wildlife. The Nantalaha Stream with its many small waterfalls runs through and borders the property and continously flows into and out of each pond (very unique!) Open up the master bedroom doors to the lanai and sleep to the peaceful sounds of gently rushing water. The pristine Lake Nantahala is less than a ten minute drive to the public boat launch. Bring your boat and RV too. We have outbuildings to protect your special vacation vehicles, with electric and septic hook-ups. After a day of activity come back to the cabin for a meal cooked on our gas or charcoal grills. Parents relax in the hot tub while the children play badminton, volleyball, horseshoes, or croquet. The entire family can retire to the 'fire-pit' by the stream to enjoy roasting marshmallows, story telling and singing.

Our authentic log home is modest and decorated in keeping with the simple mountain life, yet with all the modern conveniences of home. It sleeps up to nine people, but can be a real retreat for one or two couples. Master 1 is a large bedroom with a queen electric bed. This room is decorated in traditional mountain decor and opens to the lanai for the experience of outdoor sleeping, yet in the safety and comfort of the home. It has a cedar closet, computer area, satellite TV and shares a full bath with the main floor. Master 2 provides old world charm in the tradition of a cottage. It too has a full bath and satellite TV. In addition to the formal bedrooms, the large entertainment area on the lower level has another trundle day bed and one queen futon. This area also has a kitchenette, private full bathroom and private stone deck with a hot tub. This entertainment area is perfect for children, or another independent family arrangement!

The gas fireplace, leather furniture and open ceiling make the living room a quaint place for relaxation, watching satellite TV, reading or quiet conversation. The kitchen is equipped with everything you would need: all modern appliances and some extras for the gourmet cook. There is a small eating area in the cabin, a large deck for eating and entertainment, and another large table on the lanai for meals or craft activities.

'The Ponds at Nantahala Lake' is mountain-close to all major attractions. Looking to the North, South East and West of us, you will find all major attractions conveniently located. We are 5 minutes to the pristine Nantahala Lake, and within 15-30 minutes to Nantahala Gorge and Outdoor Center, with other lakes (Santeetlah, Fontana, Chatuga), towns (Murphy, Franklin, Bryson City) and attractions (Cherohala Skyway, John Campbell Folk Arts School) and much more nearby. The locals say we are 'two hours from Anywhere': Atlanta GA, Ashville NC. Charlotte NC, Knoxville TN, and Gatlinburg TN. We are truly blessed to be in the middle of no-where, yet so close to everything that means so much to the people who live here and the tourists that visit. We heartily invite you to share our lovely home, our community of open and trusting folk, and one of the most beautiful places on this planet!

Sincerely,

Toni & Camillo Iacoboni

Beautiful home, mountain scenery was awesome. Townspeople were nice and the owners are great people! If you like to drive around and explore, we drove to Georgia and Tennessee same day, not far from either. Alot of boating, rafting, paddle boating, there's even a casino about 15 minutes from the cabin. We visited local markets and restaurants! Highly recommend to all. Thank you Camillo and Toni, we hope to be back soon!

Beautiful and relaxing vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at the height of the summer, and could not have asked for more pleasant accommodations! Plenty of room in the house, a deck, a screened porch and ample room to roam outside. The area has lots of activities available: rafting, zip-lining, fishing. We spent time in Cherokee and at Nantahala Lake, but I confess, I was happiest on the porch with a cup of tea just watching the hummingbirds and listening to the stream! This was a perfect spot for just resting and resetting. I will mention -- as with most mountain areas in NC, cell reception is practically non-existant. Wi-fi was spotty, but with 3 young adults in tow, I actually counted that as a bonus! I highly recommend this beautiful place for a family vacation/retreat!

Great mountain retreat!

  • 5 of 5

The grounds are beautiful. The house is large and comfortable. The beds are very comfortable. We found the kitchen we appointed. Grilling and eating on the deck overlooking the fountained pond was great. The downstairs recreation room with hot tub a real plus. As a biker, the use of the very spacious garage was greatly appreciated. We have many more roads to ride and will definitely return to the Ponds.

Awesome Relaxing Getaway, Great Property!

  • 5 of 5

Great place, close to what you NEED, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle to forget about reality for a while. Beautiful 3 story log cabin style home, all wood inside and out. Great wrap around porch, pool table, hot tub, fire pit, two ponds, babbling brook, huge yard. Went with three teenagers, we did rafting , hiking, fishing, zip lining, lakes, rivers... all within 20 minutes! Small town with grocery store close by. Can trek to Murphy 20 minutes for the big city Wal-Mart if needed.

Overall we had everything we needed. Towels, three bedrooms, gas and charcoal grill, and all the necessities of a lived in home. Place was clean and tidy, other than a small ladybug issue. Apparently they like to sun-tan in the window-sill upstairs a minute or two too long. Haha. Vacuumed right up, no problem.

If we wanted to sit around the bon-fire and make smores and look at the stars we could. If we wanted to zip on a 1/2 mile line 350' over the tree canopy we could. If we wanted to go to Bryson City to eat... no problem. Feed the pet trout in the pond, yup! Red headed woodpeckers and bunny rabbits to hang out with while having morning coffee by the brook and fire pit, absolutely.

If you want to be in the mix of busy life and the hustle and bustle of tourists, go to Gatlinburg. If you want convenience and seclusion at the same time... this is the spot!

Comfortable cute cabin

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here for spring break and it was a wonderful experience. The three stories gave everyone their own space while still being able to be together. The screened in porch is where we ate every meal. The kids loved the pool table and back yard. The scenery was great for just relaxing. The beds were comfortable and house had everything you needed just as the profile sets just bring your clothes and food. This was a great experience for my family to get away from the city living and just enjoy every minute playing games and telling jokes. We will be back again.

A TIME OF PEACE, JOY AND RELAXATION

  • 5 of 5

This home is lovely and cozy. There's a good use of space that worked well for our family of eight. We relaxed; read books and took naps. Cell reception was spotty and that was OK for us since we were there to retreat and disconnect for a few days. We played pool and used the hot tub a lot - both of which were easy to use and had all the needed equipment.

The grounds are awesome. We walked around frequently and our kiddos loved watching the fish (it was a bit to chilly to catch them!). We made some-ores in the upper fire pit (there are two) which was very fun to do! We used the GREAT BBQ/griller which was big enough for our entire family and again, in the right place and easy to work.

TV's in every room were a big plus. The lanai swing was especially relaxing for the grands and their papa and nana.

Sunrise and sunsets were tranquil as one sat on the leather sofa just to watch, as was the low clouds and rain!

I'm telling you......... if you want to relax and unplug in cozy luxury, this is your place!

Owner's Response: Linda and her family were a pleasure to have as guests. They communicated their questions in advance of their stay to assure our home would fit what they were looking for, and called appropriately on arrival for clarification about how to use an item. We are very satisfied when guests consistently find our home and its unique setting to be as relaxing and special as we do.
