About this property

Charming mountain cabin with stunning view

Perched on the Allegheny ridge, the Bouncy Moss cottage has a 60 mile pastoral view of rural Bedford County. It is just a short walk to the Allegheny Front Hawk Watch. Enjoy the fire pit in the patio overlook, the large fireplace, stargazing, birdwatching and the serenity of the forest. Great for couples or small families looking for a getaway.

The cottage has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with two twin beds. There is an optional sleeper sofa on the ground floor; a full bathroom and half bathroom; a living room with a large picture window, and an upstairs loft with the bedrooms and a living room; washer and drier, and internet.

The cottage was recently remodeled and is tastefully decorated. It sits at the turn of an unpaved road as the road descends the mountain, with the steep part of the road typically closed to traffic.

It's all about the view! Cottage was clean and comfortable. The stairs to the second floor are a bit steep, but not a problem, just be careful. Short walk to the Hawk Watch. I would definitely recommend it and would like to return another time.

I grew up near the cottage and my parents and I established the Hawk Watch in the mid-1990s. I live most of my time in Michigan, but I I'm frequently on the mountain to work on ecological restoration projects along with beekeeping and farming projects.

We love interacting with our neighbors on the mountain, the community of birdwatchers who maintain the hawk watch, and of course we love the serenity and beauty of the mountaintop.
