A true get away from it all feel. Very cozy.
Surrounded by the Chester River, this property is a nature lover's dream. Stunning Views. Also includes a stocked, fresh water pond.
Would love to stay during the summer to truly enjoy all the river could offer.
Accommodations were clean and comfortable. Beautiful morning kayak experience. Kind and friendly hosts. Very easy to get to Washington College. We will definitely stay here again.
I had a warm and inviting experience during my stay. Mrs Sweetak was a great host. She gave me suggestions on where to shop for supplies and sight-see.
The drive is less than 2 hours from Phila and really easy to reach. The area is secluded and very quiet.
If you are a walker/runner, there's a 1.2 mile trail on the property. Or you can leave complete a couple of laps in the neighboring Fords Landing community. The roads are excellent for cycling as well. I plan to bring my road bike next time.
I normally pack my own spices, condiments, etc. But if I had forgotten them, I would've be fine. The apartment had all of the amenities to make one comfortable. There was a fully stocked spice rack and even Starbucks coffee!
I especially enjoyed sitting in a rocking chair with one of the family's cats sitting in my lap! I believe her name was "Bea", a sweet little feline.
I was sorry to leave and cant wait for next Summer to vacation.
My husband and I were looking for a short getaway from DC. I had in mind some place not too far, maybe on the water, with the possibility to sit outside and also barbecue. So glad we found this little apartment on the Chester River. It's just a small apartment over property owner's garage, but sparkling clean with nice furnishings, comfortable bed and well fitted kitchen - not to mention two comfortable outside chairs and a grill for the small patio and use of a couple kayaks! Just what we wanted! Location is maybe 35 miles or so on the other side of Bay Bridge. The apartment is on owner's 60 acre farm and near the remodeled farm house where they live. What a beautiful spot they have! Property backs onto the pretty Chester River and is about 9 miles from Chestertown. We enjoyed kayaking the river, seeing eagles, herons, and kingfishers. We sat outside and looked for shooting stars. We explored both nearby Chestertown (charming!) and Rock Hall. Ate some meals by the water (Fish and Whistle in Chestertown) and Harbor Shack? in Rock Hall. Enjoyed meeting owner Jackie, her son, and two cats. She was kind enough to call us after we left to let us know we'd left a phone charger behind. And since we hadn't left the area, we were able to go back and retrieve it. Thanks, Jackie! Saw a fox and some deer in our walk around the soybean fields. Can't imagine why, as a lifelong Marylander, I hadn't spent more time in this peaceful area. Highly recommended for an easy mini-vacation!
We had a very pleasant stay. The property and accommodations were clean and very well taken care of. Jackie and her family were very wonderful and understanding hosts. We caught some fish, got some sun, and enjoyed the local towns surrounding the area and were able to come back to a quiet place to rest our heads. Thank you guys again for the hospitality!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the Chester River. The setting is gorgeous, quiet, peaceful and provided an excellent home base for exploring the quaint towns on the east side of Maryland.
Would love an opportunity to go back and visit again.
