Clean room and bathroom. We had everything what we needed...comfortable bed, coffee maker, toaster, towels, ect.....Host reply promptly. Great location...walkable to restaurant, coffee places, metro, supermarkets. Safe neighborhoods.

Quick Trip to the Area

Very nice and clean. Amazing shower. We stayed for a concert in DC, the location was great and very easy to access. Bed was comfortable and not a lot of noise from the upstairs neighbors.

Good stuff

We only used it for sleeping. It had a bed and a functional heat dispenser. Would stay there again.

HAD NO PROBLEMS FINDING THE PROPERTY AND OPENING THE DOOR JUST FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. THE ROOM IS LOVELY, CLEAN WITH A NICE BATHROOM AND GREAT SHOWER. THE TV CAN BE A BIT TEMPERAMENTAL BUT DOES WORK FINE, I PERSONALLY FOUND THE BED SLIGHTLY HARD BUT STILL COMFORTABLE. THE WASHINGTON MALL AND ATTRACTIONS ARE WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE AND ALSO PLENTY OF LOCAL BUS OPTIONS, A COUPLE OF CAFES AND RESTAURANTS ALSO WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, THANKS RASHIN

Host Went Above & Beyond

First we had to change our dates, then we had to cancel due to illness. Our host was very understanding and accommodated all of our issues. Thank you so much! The location is perfect for us, and we will definitely book with Rashin in the future.

Perfect basement apartment, close to EVERYTHING in DC

The basement apartment was perfect. Very close to all the major attractions, but still nestled within a quiet neighborhood. Rental comes with one parking space. This is a basement apartment so the ceilings are low. The apartment is very clean and comfortable. There is a small kitchenette w/ hot plate and refrigerator. The decor is nice with amazing art (by the property owner) adorning the walls. Minutes from must see destinations such as the museums and DC Wharf. I cannot wait to visit DC again and when I do, will be booking this same HOME AWAY from home!!! Thank you Rashin for all your hospitality and offering your place to me while on my visit.

Not happy

Arrived late at night. Had been given the wrong door code.There was no hostess on site ever. Found a neighbor with building owners phone number, so I was able to get inside. Had been promised Wi/Fi, never given a pass word even though I asked for one on the site. No broom or dustpan to help keep place clean. Never found a store with end walking distance. Over all I was not happy with my stay.

Conveniently located

The property is conveniently located for quick access to the main tourist attractions. And while there are no close shops/cafes/restaurants, if you don't mind a 20-minute walk (or short scooter/bike ride) there are good options. The owner was responsive and helpful whenever I had questions. I will note for others this is a basement studio. From the array of photos and "1 bedroom" detail, I interpreted it that there is a separate bedroom. It is just one large room with two beds (or, I guess, 1 bed and a couch). The one bed is futon hard. The 2nd bed is harder-than-futon but softer-than-concrete. In decades of travel, the bed won the award for the hardest bed I've ever experienced. Consider yourself informed. The small kitchen was clean and adequately supplied for what you expect.

Pros and Cons

Low ceiling basement with no outside views. But fresh and clean with colorful art and linens. Good shower. Host, Rashin, is very responsive. Dehumidifier & AC. Dangerous steps to entry. Steep & uneven step risers with no handrails and a head-banging overhead. Difficult for luggage. Anyone with mobility issues should not stay here. Small window by bed should be left open for ventilation. Room needed airing out when we arrived. There is noise from tenants above. Hair dryer does not work. Space is best for 2 people. This was suitable for our stay and we enjoyed DC and the Capital Hill neighborhood.

I never entered the dwelling. I was given the wrong entry code and had to find other accommodations. I was unable to get a phone number to call the owner from Expedia or VRBO. At midnight I checked in to a hotel after trying to get help from 4 p.m. The next day, through text messages the owner was rude and unwilling to return my payment saying I had not called her. Again, I stated that I could not get her number to cancel. I will not use Expedia or VRBO again and I certainly recommend readers not reserve this property. Outside areas were snow and ice packed. Taxi would not drive up the alley to the door. I fell twice and had to leave luggage in door-way while I looked for a way to contact anyone for help.

Intro- We rented this unit for a week leading up to, and a couple days after, the nation’s 250th anniversary in the capitol city of Washington, D.C.Host- Our host was responsive, caring, made check-in easy, and was easy to reach through the Vrbo app and by phone. She was pleasant to deal with.Value- In real estate, location is an extremely important quality of the property, and this apartment is in a very good location for accessing the parts of Washington, D.C. that are highly prized by tourists. We decided that it was close enough to the Mall that we could reasonably walk the entire distance if necessary. Turns out, it wasn’t necessary as the public transportation system in D.C. is quite good and dropped us within a couple of blocks of the apartment.- We paid a fair price for this unit, based on its location and the time we visited. We reserved (and paid) over a year in advance since we anticipated demand to far outstrip supply for reasonably close properties. Rooms were still available even shortly before our trip, but at much elevated prices so our instincts were good.- The cleanliness and amenities were well below what we typically use, but we mostly used the property as a flop house that had convenient public transportation to the venues we wished to visit. In this it represented fair value for our visit.

Je recommande à 100% cette endroit. L’endroit est bien situé, tout est facile et accessible à pied (bonne marche) ou en transport en commun. Quoique de soit un sous-sol, ce que nous savions avant de réserver, il n’y a aucune odeur de cave. C’est propre et confortable. Le stationnement est un gros plus. L’hôte nous a envoyé des messages par Vrbo! Même des recommandations de places à visiter et restaurants!

Wonderful location!

Rashin’s place is cute and in such a great location! She had all the amenities you’ll need. We walked Capitol Hill and really enjoyed this family neighborhood. Great vibe!

Fulfilled hour every need

We absolutely loved this property. It was in a charming and very diverse neighborhood. We were able to talk to neighbors who are out and about. Lots of young families and kids biking around. Bus lines in every direction are available within a few short blocks. I would highly recommend taking public transportation. Make sure you get your smart trip card before you come. The unit was spotless, well appointed and cheery.

Wish we would have stayed at a hotel

The neighbors upstairs were so noisy all day and all night . The tv was very outdated and small and didn’t get any channels, only one person could really view it. The beds had thin mattresses and not comfortable . We were only given 2 towels for a 4 night stay , the owner brought more but still not enough, especially when site seeing and showering twice a day and no access to washer and dryer . Definitely needs some upgrades .

Grandson DC trip

We were very pleased with this basement apartment so close to all the things we wanted to see on our trip to DC. Parking in and around DC is so full, having our own spot was wonderful. Great to be able to put our feet up after walking miles each day.

Nice neighborhood, easy to get to the main attractions.

Overall fine. We rented as a home base, not a place to spend our time. Positives: Good location for the price, nice neighborhood. We rented Capital Bikes and had an easy time getting around the city for very low cost. Full size fridge. Negatives: I can’t say for certain, but the bed didn’t seem like a regular queen size. Could hear the upstairs tenants in the morning. Shower had very little pressure.
