We had a wonderful stay in DC. The property was in a great location for everything we had planned. The host was always quick to respond to any questions or concerns I had while we were there! Would absolutely stay again.

The room was exactly what I hoped for, and the recently renovated shower was amazing! Lots of bed and living room, too, for what I needed, and it was within a short commute to Capitol Hill.One mistake I made: make sure you park where there is no street-cleaning on a Wednesday so you can avoid the 45 fine.Overall, wonderful stay and excellent hosts.

The property was very clean and the host was very communicative. It is a basement apartment, though that isn’t clearly advertised. It is also in a neighborhood about 45 mins- 1 hr by bus from the city center and it didn’t feel very safe at nighttime.

Hello Katherine, I am glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. It is likely you went to city center at the absolute worst possible time because it has never taken me more than 25 mins by bus and only 10 mins by car. For context the Capital Area Arena is 2.3 miles away so you could technically walk in under and hour so I have no idea why it took you 45mins to an hour…I am sorry you had that experience. Also, I assume as a woman you feel unsafe walking at night in general but the neighborhood is very safe and we have never had a guest report a negative encounter in over 2 years. There are many families with children in the neighborhood and everyone is very respectful and welcoming of visitors.

Hidden Gem

Nice little first floor place to stay. The shower was amazing, appreciated all the amenities and it was a quick Uber or scooter ride to the National Mall. Really convenient to be able to laundry and it was nice and quiet. Owner was available and responsive when needed.

Very cute and impeccably decorated apartment in a great area for exploring DC while staying out of the crush of the city. The property itself was well furnished with a number of great thoughtful touches. Having to open and close the garage door every time one entered or exited the property was slightly uncomfortable as I was on vacation and keeping odd hours but the landlord was sleeping overhead. It was a very quiet garage door, though. Overall amazing experience and our interactions with the landlord were handled professionally and respectfully, even when the issue at hand was my fault, which I greatly appreciated. Best possible recommendation for a quiet escape with great proximity to the hustle and bustle of DC

Visitors from the Midwest

The property was A+. Clean, quiet, just enough room for 2 people. Better than any hotel. Advice - We walk an average of 2-5 miles a day and had no problems walking to the mall. If you are not “walk fit” our recommendation is to Uber to the closest train station to start your sight seeing.

Please note that this is a basement home, I feel like that wasn’t properly conveyed in the details of the place. We could hear all the footsteps and conversations of the people above us which was very uncomfortable especially early morning and late nights. However, the place was exactly as pictured and had nice amenities. There were crumbs in the bed when we got there and the floors did not look like they were properly cleaned which I did not like as someone who is big on cleanliness. Our stay was ok but I will definitely not be booking again.

Hello Lovelyne, I am sorry to hear your experience was less than enjoyable. We attempt to communicate the property accurately through the pictures and description so our apologies if you did not realize this was one floor of a 3 level home. Also, just to correct you, this is the 1st level of the home, which is ground level and has windows and floor to ceiling doors as pictured. Basement are below ground and typically do not get light, this home does not have a basement. Also, we do have quiet hours between 10pm - 7am so if there was noise during those time we were not aware but would have definitely reached out to the above guests had we been notified. Overall, we are glad you were able to stay and hope you enjoyed your time on DC.

Convenient location

My partner and I stayed here while I was in DC for a conference. The property was nicely furnished and easy to access. It was clean and comfortable. The only downsides, and these are very small, is how easily noise conveys through the floor and the group of people that would sit on the corner smoking weed. They were always pleasant but still, not exactly what you wanted to be greeted by. There was a hiccup with getting the house code but I will lay blame on Vrbo for that. Our host was pleasant and easy to communicate with.

We travelled to DC for our son’s college graduation. There were 4 from our family. 2 of us stayed at this property. It is a very convenient location with drug store and grocery options within a few blocks. It is in a neighborhood so there is life going on around. This was comfortable for our family but it may not be desired by some. The bathroom was big. The kitchen set up was convenient. We had all the basics and more. There is even an air fryer. The washer/dryer was a bonus. Other places did not have this. It is not far from Union Station. It is a little bit of a walk to the metro but very doable (our mother is 80 years old and she was able to do this distance). Check in was a little tricky (our fault, not the host’s). The host was very reachable. To drop off kids, go to parents’ weekend, or attend a graduation at Gallaudet or Catholic University of America, this is a great option. It is less expensive than hotels in the area.

It was not terrible

The place was clean but we were not informed that there would be people upstairs. You could hear everything they were saying and while they followed the quiet hours it was still very loud which took away from the overall quality of our stay. There was also a fly problem and a group of men sitting on the corner at all times. They didn’t do anything but as two women alone it was bit unsettling walking to our door. I gave it three stars because technically everything was as listed and the inside of the house was fine but the little things brought my rating down.

Property was clean and modern. Entry into property was tricky. You have to go to back of property to enter. I believe that should have been advertised. The alley entry was dark and the neighborhood is sketchy.

Detailed check-in instructions, including entry details, were sent well in advance of arrival. We understand reception was an issue on your end, which is why the text may have gone unseen — but the information was provided and confirmed sent. Entry is simply a short walk to the garage entrance and a keypad code — no previous guests have described it as difficult, and it's outlined clearly in the pre-arrival instructions. As for the neighborhood, it's a quiet, family-friendly area — the home sits just three houses from the street, and the alley is lit. We're not aware of any safety concerns in the area. We're glad you enjoyed your stay overall and hope future guests will refer to the check-in instructions provided, which answer these questions in advance.
