About Martin D. Susec, Owner/property manager for Susec Chalet LTD

My name is Martin Susec and I am the managing member of the Susec Chalet, LLC. I am also a corporate attorney for a large insurance company in Columbus, Ohio. My parents build the Susec Chalet in 1989 for their retirement. Since then it was passed into my family and I want to preserve it for others to enjoy.

Martin D. Susec, Owner/property manager for Susec Chalet LTD purchased this chalet in 2013

Why Martin D. Susec, Owner/property manager for Susec Chalet LTD chose Geneva

This property was passed down to me by my Slovenian parents. However, it is a relatively new build with a distinct European flavor. It is perfect for Ohio's wine country and will remind you of the landscape and vineyards of Austria or Northern Italy. In May of 2017, I stated a small on-site winery. In 2018, the winery will be open on Fri and Sat from 3:00-9:00pm.

We had a wonderful time and the Chalet was very nice.

  • 5 of 5

We went with 3 other couples and had a very nice time at the Chalet. It was very spacious, comfortable, clean and a well stocked kitchen of supplies. We enjoyed dinner outside on the patio winery by the garage and when it started to rain we pulled our dinner into the Chalets winery and finished our dinner. The next evening we went to several wineries and then came back to the chalet and sat around the fire pit. Thank you Susec Chalet!

Peaceful place for resting, gathering, and adventuring!

  • 5 of 5

I am going to be very honest, I tend to stay away from VRBO's because we are pretty picky about places we stay. We were looking for a place that was close to the Spire Institute where my daughter was participating in a four day swim meet. In addition to my family of four we also had both sets of grandparents along for the trip. The chalet is only a few minutes away from Spire so this seemed like a perfect solution for all of us. It was PERFECT! It was as close to a home away from home that you could get. It was so spacious and comfortable. We were there for 6 nights and 7 days. There were 8 of us and there were still rooms we didn't need to use. It is well stocked and maintained. Very clean! All of the appliances are top-notch. Couches are huge and comfortable. Beds were dressed with plenty of linens and pillows; even better than a hotel.

We enjoyed fishing in the pond, playing games around the table, and watching for deer in our spare time. I saw two of the largest bucks I have ever seen in the bean field behind the vines. I would recommend bringing your binoculars if wildlife interests you. Even though the location is close to Geneva and Geneva-on-the-lake you feel like you are in your own world on the vineyard. So quiet and peaceful! It is a short easy drive to lake Erie and there are so many wineries and even a barn quilt tour you can take. We took a day trip to Niagara Falls which was only about a 2.5 hour drive away.

I would highly recommend the chalet if you need to stay in the Geneva area. You will not be disappointed!

Beautiful country home

  • 5 of 5

My family enjoyed our stay very much. We loved the layout of the chalet and really enjoyed the peace and quiet. The setting and the pond are beautiful. We made a fire one night and made s’mores while we gazed at the stars. All the things you need are in the kitchen so cooking was easy and enjoyable. The beds are comfortable. We were a bit worried about the winery but it truly was not an issue at all. In fact it adds to the charm of the home.

Very spacious and close to wineries

  • 5 of 5

I stayed with a group of girls to celebrate my sister's bachlorette party. We had plenty of room for all of us and enjoyed our time on the property. We made meals at the house and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. We had a short drive to most of the wineries we wanted to visit and really enjoyed the weekend. Martin was very responsive to my questions leading up to the trip, which was appreciated. I would recommend this home to others looking to visit the area and would definitely stay again!

Great winery bnb!

  • 5 of 5

The Susec Chalet is a wonderful place to stay to be in the middle of wine country. We held our wedding ceremony at nearby Estate at Coffee Creek and used the Susec Chalet as our place to stay for our wedding weekend. The house is large enough to have at least three other couples stay with us. We even had our "First Look" of the Bride in the gazebo by the lake. The house is well kept has all the amenities you would need. The winery was open during part of our stay but did not interfere with any of our activities, and actually added to the ambiance of the home. We would highly recommend the Chalet.
