View is amazing and the solitude and quiet rejuvenating! The drive once you leave the highway is slow but well maintained. We had several days of rain but traveling over the creek beds was not difficult. Would recommend this well appointed cabin that would very comfortably accommodate a party of 4! Lots of hiking right out the door and the hosts could not have been any more accommodating!

It is very helpful for future guests, and we are happy to hear the roads held up well for you even with the rain. It sounds like you made the most of the hiking and time outdoors, which is exactly what we hope for every guest. And thank you for your kind words about our hospitality. That means so much to us. The property was nice, we didnt get a chance to explore the property trails, they may have been over grown or we just didnt know where to find them...we didnt ask the hosts as this was wasn't a dealer breaker for us because it was July and it was hot.Take the description for the drive serious, I underestimated it. I thought driving on the dirt/rock road was fun...there are some areas where I white-knuckled the steering wheel. As long as you take it slow, you'll be fine. The view was awesome, I spent a few mornings just watching the sun come up over the lake drinking my coffee. We brought our pets, I don't recommend bringing pets, especially larger ones. A lot of places in town don't allow pets except for service animals, so going between town and the cabin tending to your pets equals a lot of time in the vehicle. We didnt have any issues that I would consider a deal breaker. Issues that were brought to the hosts attention were remedied.Debbie was on top of it...we never had a need to call her but she responded very quickly through correspondence through the VRBO app.Would I book here again, yes, I absolutely would.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! We're so glad you enjoyed the peaceful setting, the incredible sunrise views over the lake, and found The Cliffhouse to be a place where you could relax and unwind. We also appreciate your kind words about our communication. We always want our guests to know we're just a message away if they need anything during their stay. For future guests, the hiking trails are part of the surrounding Ouachita National Forest and are unmarked. We use the AllTrails app to help navigate them and are always happy to share that recommendation with guests who plan to explore. We also encourage guests to review the driving information before arrival, as the forest access roads are part of what makes The Cliffhouse feel so secluded and special. Thank you again for staying with us. It means a lot to hear you'd choose The Cliffhouse again, and we'd love the opportunity to welcome you back!

Cliffside Cabin - This is a beautiful, isolated, off-the-grid cabin! Extremely comfortable for my wife and I. The views of the north end of Broken Bow Lake are straight out of National Geographic! The kitchen is well stocked with all the utensils necessary. I love cooking on the gas stove-top much better than electric provided at other properties. Plenty of hot water for showers, well water that tastes great, and the Starling Wifi is excellent! The drive from highway 259 to the cabin is primarily gravel but has been improved and is very driveable. There is an area for a camp fire near the cabin and plenty of trees to hang a hammock! We stayed in the cabin all week but there is great areas for hiking all around the cabin. We definitely plan to return!

Peaceful, tucked away, and those views that just don’t feel real. We love that you and your wife were able to slow down and enjoy the simple things, cooking, relaxing, and taking it all in. I’m especially glad you called out the drive in and the Starlink WiFi. That kind of detail is so helpful for future guests and we really appreciate it. It sounds like you had the kind of stay we always hope for, quiet, comfortable, and connected to nature. We would love to have you back anytime. Debbie & Andy No Bad Days

WOW! The pictures do not do justice to the view. You want to get away and disconnect from the world. This is your place to be. Best advice I can offer is to stop off at Pruett's Grocery (NOT WalMart) for all of your food, drink, and snacks. Stop before going to the cabin because I'm telling you. Once you are there. You don't want to leave.Debbie the host is outstanding! She responds very quickly. My wife and I can't wait to book this place again.

Andy and I have a passion for travel and adventure, exploring incredible destinations like Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, and countless places across the United States. Our journey led us to discover the charm of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, in 2007 when we first began boating and ATVing in the area. We instantly fell in love with its natural beauty and tranquility.

In April 2012, our dream of owning land within the National Forest became a reality. Shortly after, we started building our first cabin, marking the beginning of Bear Creek Vacations. Creating these spaces was not just a personal milestone—it was a way for us to share the magic of Broken Bow with others.

We invite you to experience Bear Creek Vacations for yourself. Whether you're looking to relax, rejuvenate, or simply escape, you'll leave feeling refreshed and grateful you visited. Feel free to reach out with any questions—we’re here to help make your stay unforgettable.

Why they chose this property

The Cliffhouse is not just a place to stay—it’s an experience. Nestled atop 80 private acres, this off-grid mountain retreat offers breathtaking panoramic views of Broken Bow Lake, total seclusion, and a true escape into nature. No neighbors, no city noise—just you, the wilderness, and the most stunning sunsets in McCurtain County.

For those who seek adventure, the property is surrounded by 6,000 acres of National Forest and Corps of Engineer land, offering hiking, wildlife spotting, and endless exploration right from your doorstep. Whether you’re waking up to the sound of birdsong, enjoying coffee on the 600 sq. ft. deck, or stargazing under the vast open sky, The Cliffhouse provides an unforgettable connection to nature.
