The house was just as pictured. The communication was everything you’d want in an excellent host (response time). The rooms were clean as well as a well groomed exterior. I would recommend staying here to enjoy SanDiego as well as maintain privacy. Easy access to major highways.
The host was very welcoming and the house was even better than the pictures. She checked in with us seeing if we needed anything but we were so well stocked with everything we needed, we were perfectly fine the whole weekend. The neighborhood was very peaceful and the backyard was such a nice, relaxing oasis. All the amenities were wonderful, the house was very spacious and clean. We would definitely book this house again and would definitely recommend to those looking at this home!
Emilie was so easy to work with and was extremely helpful. The check in process was smooth and she made sure to inform me of all the rules before even booking. She made sure to ask if anything was needed once on the property and then let us be which was really nice. It’s a beautiful place that really does look just like the pictures. Plenty of outdoor space with something for everyone. The neighborhood is not a place you’d expect this nice of a house to be but it was really safe and we had no issues. There are security cameras outside of the property but this was disclosed so it was not a surprise. It’s a quick uber ride to downtown so it is convenient. Would definitely stay here again!
Emilie was a terrific host, very accommodating and communicative with our needs. Anything we had a question about, she was quick to help with clarification. The property was gorgeous, very accommodating for our family and kids. The heated pool was fantastic even during our Christmas stay it felt nice to swim at night. It has plenty to do with a pool, sauna, jacuzzi, laundry and even small workout area to make it a perfect getaway for any season. There were grocery stores nearby as well to grab essentials if needed, i would not hesitate to stay here again. The house was clean and well provided including our small dog which we communicated in advance and even provided beddings for her. Overall i was very satisfied with the host and property and would love to come again during the summertime.

About the host
Your host
Emilie and Andrew have been friends since their college days — and years later, they're now partners in Lyon's Den. Both bring years of experience operating short-term rentals, and with Andrew based right here in San Diego and Emilie's background in hospitality, Lyon's Den became the perfect opportunity to do what they love most: creating beautiful spaces and delighting guests one stay at a time.
They're hands-on hosts who genuinely care about your experience — so whether you need a local restaurant recommendation, help turning on the pool heater, or just someone to celebrate your milestone with you, they're always just a message away.
Why they chose this property
I picked this spot because location was non-negotiable for the kind of trip Lyon's Den is built for. You came for the pool, the sauna, and the fire pit - but the city is ten minutes outside the gate when you want it.
Brunch in North Park or Hillcrest: 10–12 minutes. Balboa Park for the museums, gardens, and the rose garden photo op: 10 minutes. The Gaslamp Quarter for a night out: 10–15. Over the bridge to Coronado for a fancy dinner or a beach day at the Hotel del: 15. Pacific Beach and Mission Beach: about 20. San Diego International when it's time to fly home: 11 minutes from the front door - drop your bags, start the weekend.
The block itself is quiet and residential, which is exactly the point. You won't find tourist crowds outside the gate, so coming home from a Gaslamp night out feels like coming home, not extending the chaos. The yard is fully fenced and perimeter cameras are visible and disclosed, so groups consistently tell us they feel safe and undisturbed. Ubers are quick and cheap from here, and most groups end up staying in more than they planned.
What makes this property unique
Lyon's Den is built like a backyard resort. Heated swimming pool, cedar barrel sauna, hot tub, fire pit lounge, open-air gym, outdoor shower, hammock chairs under a fruit tree - every amenity you'd book separately at a wellness retreat, on one private lot.
Inside, every room is designed for the group. Three named king bedrooms - Tropical, Color Drenched, Cheetah King - each with a dedicated vanity desk so the whole crew can do hair and makeup at the same time. A separate Pool House out back gives the early-arrivers or the introverts their own wing: two queens, a kitchenette, and a private bath. Sleeps 12 across the main house and Pool House, three full bathrooms, room for everyone.
The details: bright open-concept kitchen with bar seating, expandable outdoor dining table for 12, a Café drip coffee maker and Fellow Stagg pour-over for the morning people, a Beast blender for the frozen-marg shift. The whole property is privacy-fenced - no shared walls, no overlooking neighbors. The aerial-pool-with-floats photoshoot moment? It really does happen here.
