About Steve

My wife and I have four young boys. We lived at this location for several years until we were expecting Boy #3 at which time we began to look for something with a little more space. We absolutely loved living here. There are very few places like this in the area. It is quiet and secluded with abundant wildlife. We loved the warm, cozy log home feel with the fireplaces and abundant wood and rustic decor. Besides that, it is located only 2 miles from the city limits so we didn't have to drive a long way out of town to enjoy all of those benefits. If our growing family did not necessitate a bit more living space, we would certainly still be living there today! Our love for this place has caused us to want to share it with others, specifically hosting vacationers to the wonderful Central Wisconsin area. We are certain that you will enjoy staying there as much as we did!

Cozy, Clean, Convenient

  • 5 of 5

A group of eight women relatives stayed at this cabin for a weekend getaway, which we do every year (for the past 13 years). We choose a different, new cabin every year, and we were not disappointed in our choice this year. It's secluded and quiet, but just a few minutes from town makes it super convenient. If you choose, it's also just a short drive from the Eau Claire Dells.

The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. At first some of the women were disappointed there wasn't wi-fi, but after a few hours realized it was a blessing to not be distracted from giving our full attention to each other. There was just enough seating in the living room for all eight of us to relax and enjoy each other's company. Overall a great place to stay and create new memories with our family. Communication with the owners was effortless; they were very accommodating to our needs and responded to messages promptly. Highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking in the Wausau area!

Quiet and secluded, yet close to town.

  • 5 of 5

Four girlfriends of 60 plus years shared this log home for a long weekend. Our purpose was mainly to catch up but we found plenty to do in the Wausau area, Artrageous, Art in the Park and Leigh Yawkey Birds in Art, as well as nice resturaunts at which to dine. This log home is both spacious and cozy, decorated in Northwoods cabin style. It is much bigger than it appears form the outside. We split meals between eating out, with suggestions from our host Steve, and eating in. A gas grill was provided along with a campfire area. Plenty of chairs and tables were provided for outdoor use. Bedrooms and bedrooms were stocked with extra towels and bedding as well as storage for clothing. The kitchen was very nice, well stocked, even coffee, filters, and condiments, but became a bit small with four women trying to prepare a meal.

The rental was very clean and the hosts very responsive when contacted.

This vacation lodging was in a clearing surrounded by tall pines, it really felt like civilization was a long way off but it was only a couple of minutes drive to groceries, gas and resturaunts and only about 10 minutes to the downtown area.

We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property to anyone visiting the Wausau area.

Exactly what we were looking for

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was clean and well stocked. The area was nice and quiet. The owner was very helpful and professional during the whole process. He made sure to leave us clear sets of instructions for some home amenities and a contact number in case of emergency, but everything went great. We only used the number as we were leaving to let him know we were headed out and he answered right away. Overall, I would recommend this place if you're looking a nice quiet cabin in the woods.

Cozy Gem in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

We spent a ski weekend in the cabin Feb. 23rd through the 26th. Our group consisted of 2 families with 5 kids. There was plenty of room so we could spread out and not feel crowded. The property is very secluded in the middle of a forest at the end of a long driveway. It's only 15 minutes to Granite Peak/Rib Mountain. We skied 2 days and each day looked forward to relaxing back at the cabin in front of the fire at the end of the day. The kitchen had everything you need to cook a meal.

We will be coming back again next year.
