About this property

The Lakeside cabin, just steps from the lake, with dock and screened porch

The Lakeside cabin is an 820 sq. ft. cabin just steps from the lake with a kitchen, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a 165 sq. ft. screened porch. It has a dock and boat mooring. It's a perfect place for families to retreat together from the crowds and pressure of everyday life. The Lakeside Cabin sits on the waterfront in a grove of trees on a slight outcropping of land near the widest part of the lake, where the water deepens quickly (eventually reaching 114 feet) making it ideal for fishing and swimming. Lake Damariscotta is 1.5 miles across where the Lodge sits and 8 miles long. The buildings sit close to the water, offering beautiful views of the lake, the far shore, the loons and the stunning sunsets. Large lawns next to the water are great for games and the dock is ideal for swimming and boating.

Perfect rustic but charming lakefront cabin
The cabin was spacious and comfortable though kitchen not well equipped for cooking which is a necessity being in a rural area. No large platters or large pots very dull knives ( dangerous) . Did not expect a gourmet kitchen but was difficult to prepare meals w limited equipment. Overall amazing location right on lake w sandy beach and dock. Beds comfortable . Very responsive property manager,. Great place to relax and recharge!!!

A rustic cabin and great getaway with your own dock. The lake is amazing for swimming with the deep water dock and the fishing is great. Sunsets are are a big bonus.

Beautiful property
Perfect location right on the water, close to town for any last minute runs to the store for firewood, charcoal etc. The lakeside cabin where we stayed was close to other cabins; the noise was never an issue though. We had a great time swimming and paddling through the lake! Thank you Victoria!

Delight!
We loved our stay, right on the beautiful lake. Our own dock to lounge on and swim from. Quiet, even with neighbors nearby -no zooming motorboats or swarms of jet skis to drown out the loons fishing near the shore. Our hosts were always responsive and nearby (we needed a colander one night, and on another they delivered a great lantern when a storm blew the power our for a few hours) but gave us all the privacy we were looking forward to. We hope to be able to come to Sunset again!

About the host

We have been vacationing on Lake Damariscotta for 30 years and love Sunset Lodge. We like to share it with people who enjoy a family vacation on the water in a setting that hasn't changed in 90 years.

Why they chose this property

Built in 1919, Sunset Lodge was sited on one of the best points on the lake, with sunset views and deep water.

What makes this property unique

Listen to the loon calls, wake up to the lapping of the waves, eat breakfast on the screened porch looking at the water and swim off the dock which is just outside the front door. In the evening roast marshmallows in the outside fire pit and sing around the campfire.
