About this property

Family & Friends Retreat • Heated Pool & Hot Tub

A stylish 4-bedroom Berkshires farmhouse with a heated pool, hot tub, and fireplace — thoughtfully designed with modern comfort and historic charm.

Set across from Catamount and surrounded by mature trees, the house offers space to gather and unwind, with a chef’s kitchen, outdoor dining, and a generous yard.

Minutes to Great Barrington’s dining, lakes, and hiking, and about 30 minutes to Tanglewood and Hudson — an ideal year-round escape for families, couples, or friends.

Our home is ideal for year-round visits. In the winter, it’s perfectly situated for skiing and cozy weekends by the fire. Summer is all about the pool, gardens, and long evenings outdoors. And throughout the year, you’ll enjoy beautiful grounds and easy access to the Berkshires’ cultural attractions, hiking trails, shops, and restaurants.

The Berkshires are particularly lovely in the quieter shoulder seasons. Spring brings blooming landscapes and ideal hiking weather, while fall offers spectacular foliage and crisp, scenic afternoons. It’s also a wonderful time to work remotely from the Berkshires for a week or two — enjoying great restaurants, charming shops, and local culture without the summer crowds. The pace is relaxed, the scenery is stunning, and it’s the perfect balance of productivity and escape.

Rooms & Indoor Spaces

Main-floor

The main living spaces flow seamlessly into one another — kitchen, dining room, living room, and family room — creating a layout that feels both connected and comfortably distinct. Generous windows throughout invite in natural light and surrounding greenery from every angle, bringing the outdoors in while preserving a sense of privacy and retreat.

The lower level also includes a full bathroom, a small guest bedroom, and a convenient kitchenette or wet bar. A semi-enclosed porch extends the living space outdoors, offering a comfortable setting for al fresco dining in warmer months.

Living Room
This warm and inviting living room features a classic stone fireplace and generous windows that bathe the space in natural light. An oversized L-shaped sectional offers ample room to gather or stretch out in comfort — ideal after a morning hike, a ski day at Catamount, an afternoon by the pool, or simply reading fireside.

TV / Family Room
Adjacent to the living room, this additional gathering space gives guests a second option for relaxing—whether it’s movie night, quieter reading time, or a kid-friendly zone including some games and toys.

Dining Room & Chef’s Kitchen
The open-plan chef’s kitchen and dining area are ideal for shared meals and entertaining. The layout flows seamlessly into the living areas, making social time easy. The kitchen is modern and updated while preserving historic charm.

Upper Floor:

The upper floor is anchored by a gracious landing that connects the three primary bedrooms. Two queen bedrooms offer charming reading nooks and separate dressing areas, creating intimate spaces within each room. The primary suite features an en-suite bath and opens onto a private terrace with Adirondack chairs overlooking the lawn and mature trees — an inviting spot for morning coffee or a quiet glass of wine at dusk.

Primary Suite: On the second floor, the main bedroom includes its own full bathroom (with double sinks) a reading space, a Queen bed, plus access to a private deck.

Two Additional Bedrooms: Also upstairs are two further guest bedrooms, one with a Queen bed, one with two Twin beds—ideal for family or friends.

An Additional Full Bathroom & Laundry Area: A second full bath and a dedicated laundry space complete the upper level to make stays easy and comfortable for groups.

Summary of sleeping accommodations:

4 bedrooms total (1 ground-floor double bed + 3 upstairs, two Queen beds, two twin beds)

3 full bathrooms (1 on main level + 2 upstairs)

Additional living spaces (TV/Family Room) providing flexibility for various guest groups.

About the host

We’re a New York–based family who discovered this special corner where the Berkshires meet the Hudson Valley and immediately fell in love with it. What drew us to this home was its history, warmth, and the way it lets you experience the rhythm of the seasons — ski days in winter, long summer afternoons outdoors, the beautiful foliage and quieter pace of fall, and the return of green landscapes and trails in the spring. It’s also a wonderful place to spend time working remotely when life allows for it.

Part of the joy for us has been discovering just how much this area has to offer, and helping others do the same. This corner of the Berkshires and Hudson Valley has an extraordinary variety of things to explore — far more than you might expect from a small-town setting. From record stores to flower shops, from local hikes to waterfalls, and from casual dinners to world-class dining, there is always something new to find. Hudson’s fashionable boutiques, farmers markets, and scenic back roads are all part of the experience. We’re always happy to share a few favorite spots if helpful, or you can also find many of them in the house manual.

Why they chose this property

We love this area for its setting at the intersection of the Berkshires and the Hudson Valley, where the best of both regions comes together. Catamount Ski Area is just across the road and Butternut Ski Area is nearby, while Great Barrington — only about 10 minutes away — offers excellent restaurants, shops, farmers markets, and small-town charm. Hudson and Tanglewood are also an easy drive. Each season brings something special, from ski days and hiking trails to summer lakes and farmers markets. Fall is especially magical, when foliage surrounds the area and the restaurants, culture, and shops feel wonderfully unhurried. And with beautiful scenery in every direction, working from home here is a pleasure any time of year.

What makes this property unique

What makes the house special is the balance between history, comfort, and location. Originally built around 1760, the home retains the character and charm of a classic New England farmhouse while offering modern comforts that make it easy to enjoy year-round.

Inside, the layout offers a variety of spaces to gather or unwind. The living room with its stone fireplace is perfect for cozy evenings after skiing, while the kitchen and dining areas flow naturally together for meals and conversation. A separate family and movie room offers another comfortable place to relax. Upstairs, two of the bedrooms feature charming reading nooks that create quiet corners to slow down with a book.

Outdoor living is equally inviting. In warmer months, the pool, hot tub, and generous yard make it easy to spend long days outside. A semi-enclosed porch is ideal for al fresco dining, while the private deck off the primary bedroom offers a peaceful spot overlooking the lawn and mature trees.

The location also sets the home apart. Catamount Ski Area is just across the road, Butternut Ski Area is nearby, and Great Barrington is only about 10 minutes away for restaurants, shops, and farmers markets. A handful of excellent restaurants and newer local favorites are just one or two minutes from the house, offering the rare combination of feeling peaceful and secluded while still being remarkably convenient. Sitting at the intersection of the Berkshires and the Hudson Valley, the house provides easy access to skiing, hiking, lakes, culture, and dining throughout the year.
