About this property
Hot Tub, Firepit, + Wraparound Deck in the Pines
Bring 7 of your closet companions and experience living just 1/4 mile from Tamarack Resort and Lake Cascade. Tamarack Shack is that “we could actually live here” kind of spot--a cabin so comfortably and thoughtfully outfitted that you can ski or boat until sunset and coming back never feels like “going to the rental;” it feels like coming home. Fresh and bright--warm and homey--tucked into nature yet brimming with unexpected creature comforts. Come for the mountain, stay for the cabin.
You'll be adjacent to Tamarack Resort, a four-season destination 90 miles north of Boise; it's the perfect basecamp for your west central Idaho adventures, located between the recreation opportunities in Cascade and McCall or those further afield. Nestled on 3,500 acres with 2,800 feet of vertical and adjacent to Lake Cascade, it offers year-round recreation, including some of the best skiing and snowboarding in Idaho, Nordic and snowshoe trails, hiking, downhill and cross country mountain biking, zipline tours, whitewater rafting, motorized and non-motorized water sports, and the award-winning Osprey Meadows Golf Course. Tamarack also offers a host of on-site dining and leisure activities, to include a spa, pickleball courts, and disc golf course. Be sure to check their schedule for hosted events and activities.
You'll have the entire home to yourself. Please be aware there's no garage or covered parking.
Guests do not have access to the detached shed. There is one locked owner closet (one closet in the loft) and one small locked cupboard in the kitchen.
• Tamarack Trail/Ski Access •
Tamarack Shack is NOT a true ski in/out property, but for those who don't mind a little trekking it's definitely possible to get to the Tamarack Express chairlift from the home, making it a great option for those who want to avoid the parking lot hustle. Tamarack Resort's Buttercup Trail is about 1/4 mile from the property, and can be accessed from the neighboring streets. Tamarack Express chairlift can then be reached from a groomed trail--it's about another 1/2 mile mostly downhill hike/push (3/4 mile total from Tamarack Shack). Depending on snowpack you may have to snowshoe. A more detailed description can be found in the Digital Guidebook upon booking.
Tamarack Shack is bound to become your year-round basecamp between the mountain and the water, perfect for those looking for Idaho adventure/seclusion with a side of comfort (think on-demand hot water, Starlink WiFi, and whole-home water filtration). Crisp white walls, simple lines, cozy textures, and big windows pulling in the trees outside; it's the landing pad you'll yearn for after big days outside.
The open concept main floor has that easy, “everyone can be together” feel: a great room meant for gathering, wood beams overhead, a wood stove ready to light, soft sofas, a big table within reach for snacks or a puzzle. It’s the kind of place where someone’s cooking, someone’s reading by the fire, and someone’s setting up a board game—and it all fits.
Outside, the setting adds to the feeling: trees all around, a quiet dirt road, the sense that you’re in a little pocket of woods even though Tamarack and Lake Cascade are just 1/4 mile away. The hot tub under the trees, the wraparound deck, and the extra parking for gear all make it feel like a real basecamp for whatever you’re here to do.
