About the property

Beautiful 3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Cottage With Pond Access And Mountain Views

The Toddy Pond Farm cottage is a warm and welcoming place rich with history and natural beauty. Situated on a 500+ acre working farm, the cottage overlooks Toddy Pond and the mountains beyond. Enjoy these views and those of the farm from the front screened porch, or pick blueberries from the back patio and listen to the owls in the evening. Inside, the cottage has a full kitchen, 2 full bathrooms, full laundry and 3 bedrooms & sleeping nook; the master bedroom with a new queen bed downstairs and upstairs the cozy full sized sleeping nook with privacy curtains, the front guest room with a full sized bed and the back guest room with a twin. In all, the cottage comfortably sleeps up to 7. The cottage itself dates back many years - be sure to read the original walls with each visitor's hand-written messages. In the living room / dining room area there is table seating for 6 and a couch and chairs near the wood stove. There is no television in the cottage, but wifi is available. The comfortable window seats have been known to trap a lazy afternoon reader into a blissful nap on more than one occasion.

Outside the cottage, feel free to explore the woods on several private hiking trails, or visit the farm animals of Toddy Pond Farm; a working dairy farm with sheep, goats, cows, pigs and chickens. Feel free to stop by the dairy in the morning to see how the milking is done or come watch as we put the animals out to pasture for the day. There is even a farm store where you can buy fresh milk, cheese, yogurt and even ice cream - all made right here on the farm in our Maine licensed dairy facility.

If swimming, boating or fishing are what you enjoy then take a walk through the woods down to Toddy Pond and enjoy the private landing complete with raft, four kayaks and a canoe. Over 1 mile of private frontage on the pond ensures complete privacy and quiet, though you will probably hear the loons out on the water. Enjoy additional views on the Pond View Trail complete with 2 bridges as you walk along Toddy Pond in a loop back up to the cottage.

If you are looking for a place to get away from it all without having to drive for miles and miles into the wilderness, then Toddy Pond Farm is the place for you. During your visit you will see and hear wildlife and all the other amazing sights and sounds of nature and yet the wonderful bustling seaside city of Belfast is just a 15 minute drive away with it's art galleries, natural food stores and numerous eclectic dining options. It really is the best of both worlds here.

Toddy Pond Farm was featured in a Boston Globe article about farm stays here in the USA, and more recently in a March 2017 Parent magazine article TPF was selected as the farm stay to visit in Maine.

We hope you decide to come stay with us.

An Idyllic, Perfect Week

  • 5 of 5

My adult sons and girlfriend, my sister, my beau, and I spent a perfect week at the Toddy Pond Farm guest house. The beds are firm and comfortable, the rooms clean and of the right number. Two full bathrooms ease the crowd crunch. The kitchen is well equipped, with a gas grill in the patio. The large gathering/dining room couldn't be better and is equipped with cards and games; several of us napped on the day beds at various times. The pond down the hill was clear, quiet, and beautiful, with a swimming dock, and kayaks available to paddle out to the loons. We easily drove into Belfast for restaurants and history when we wanted, and gladly stayed at the house for games, reading, swimming, and more. Our friendly and gracious hosts were the best, as was watching a working family farm in action. Oh, and the dairy products! It was worth every extra penny to go through two glass half gallons of fresh milk and the same of yogurt, rich yellow-yolked eggs from the chickens wandering around, fabulous ice cream sandwiches. We didn't even dent the meat freezer!

Highly recommend for your artist retreat, your family reunion, or your couples getaway. We'll be back, for sure.

Beautiful cottage. Private winter getaway with lovely views. Looking forward to visiting again!

  • 5 of 5

A group of my friends and I rented the Toddy Pond Farm Cottage to celebrate another friends birthday and decided to extend our stay through New Year's Eve. All 8 of us enjoyed ourselves immensely. The cottage is beautiful and very well taken care of. Greg was a spectacular host and was extremely patient in putting up with a paranoid me as I obsessively checked the weather every few hours in the days leading up to our trip. A lengthy snowstorm was predicted for the day of our anticipated arrival and in a last minute change of plans, he allowed us to extend our reservation and made sure the cottage would be ready to go an entire day early for our group. We arrived very late at night (as we were coming last minute from almost 4 hours away in Massachusetts) to find that the outside lights had been left on as well as the heat turned up. Very cozy. We instantly felt welcome and made ourselves right at home. The next morning we woke up to an exquisite view of an incredible farm blanketed in snow, surrounded by gorgeous trees and a beautiful view of the pond. Greg was on top of the plowing of the cottage driveway and was very responsive and helpful the entire time we were there (he even hand delivered a package to us that we had delivered to the farm from Amazon).

All in all the entire stay was perfect. Still sad that it's already come and gone!

Owner's Response: We are really happy you all decided to come visit the farm and are very glad you had enjoyed your stay. We do not have many winter guests, despite it being so beautiful and peaceful here, so it was especially nice that you all were able to enjoy the snow and the cozy cottage. And no problem at all adjusting your stay. Just glad it worked out and everyone got here safely before the storm. Thank you for being great guests, and for taking such good care of the cottage. We hope to see you all again sometime! Best, Greg & Heide

Toddy Pond Farm Cottage is quaint, spacious, and clean. With cows grazing in nearby fields and spectacular views of the pond and mountains beyond, the place is quite magical. The owners are clearly stewards of the earth as evidenced by the various organic, biodegradable products they have on hand. Highly recommend!!!

Toddy Pond Farm

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place. Greg and Heidi are excellent and generous hosts with their time and resources. As fellow farmers who care for the earth we were pleased to find biodegradable dish soap in the kitchen and organic olive oil by the stove. The space is incredible and what they are doing on their farm is noteworthy. I look forward to our next stay and only hope that it's available for the weekend we want to come.

Second year at TPF

  • 5 of 5

We had another great week at Toddy Pond Farm. With some guidance from Greg & Heidi, the kids had a chance to interact more with the cows, learn their names, and watch how Frieda interacted with Francis, the baby calf. They loved kayaking and swimming, of course, and the ice cream sandwiches from the farm store, but mostly loved seeing the animals. They have been asking interesting questions about how other cows live on other kinds of farms. Adults will love the enormous screened porch and the hiking, and the general privacy of a vacation away from crowds. Belfast is a short ride away and it contains good restaurants, a food coop, craft boutiques, and a beautiful waterfront.

Wonderful week!

  • 5 of 5

Our family rented the cottage at Toddy Pond Farm for a week. I read all the other reviews here, and I agree with them, so I won't repeat all the (true) things that have been said about how great the accommodations are.

What I will add is that this was truly one of the best vacations the family has taken. The kids haven't stopped talking about wanting to re-book it for another stay, for one thing! It's true, this place is great to take the kids, but it's much more than that. The cottage is about 500 feet away from the farm, separated by pasture, so it would be easy to just hide out in the cottage for a more secluded, relaxing getaway without kids. So, I wouldn't just limit this to a "kids vacation" kind of place.

Greg, Heide and their boys were wonderfully accommodating and engaging hosts. They're clearly very passionate about sustainable family farming. We learned a ton about where our food comes from and how it gets to our plate, as well as things we can do to improve its quality. At the same time, while they gave us as much education as we asked for, they were never preachy in any way. Kept things very interesting for sure. Just very engaged in their work, and happy to answer all the questions we asked, demonstrate things, have us help as desired, etc. They are clearly "people people" who genuinely enjoy the farm guests.

The cottage was extremely clean, and fully stocked with sheets, towels, (organic and natural) cleaners and soaps, etc. It was easy to move in and feel at home. There are two stories, with a master bedroom on the first floor. Second floor has two bedrooms, plus a curtained sleeping nook that isn't really a full room, but was lots of fun for our 12 year olds. WiFi was OK but a little slow; there's no TV.

Again, you really can do as much, or as little, of the farm involvement as you like. There's kayaking and swimming (warning: you'll need to walk about 1/3 mile on a wooded path to get to the pond ... which is pretty big, more like a lake ... and it got pretty buggy on the walk. It's also uphill coming back). Belfast is an interesting town with restaurants, bookstores, etc. about a 20 minute drive away. Camden and Rockland are also nice towns, more like 50-60 minutes drive.

In short, this place is a good choice for many types of vacationers, from those with young children, thru teenagers, to older couples or groups without kids. You can be as active, or as laid back, as you like here. I can't say enough good things!

Owner's Response: Please don't let the lateness of this response be any reflection of how much we enjoyed having your family stay with us here at the farm this summer - it's just been a crazy summer!! We really enjoyed having you all here and sharing our knowledge with you and your family. It was fantastic that you and the girls came down for morning chores each day! Heide and I very much hope you will consider staying with us again in the future. Best to you all - Greg & Heide
