the year 2017 can be called "Extreme Makeover, Tranquility Point Edition". A complete exterior renovation has transformed Tranquility Point into the most appealing rental on Norris Lake. A new roof, new siding with white trim, stone on the front of the house along with a new larger deck completes the transformation of our home. Stone will be added to the deck post later this year to complement the stone added to the front of the house. The underside of the deck includes stay dry soffit to protect you from the rain and includes a ceiling fan for your comfort in the evening or on a rainy day. Also new for 2017 is the boat dock. . This boat dock is as large as allowed by the TVA on Norris Lake and features a covered patio, swim ladder, diving board and water slide for the young and young at heart. The deck of the dock is constructed of 2' x 2' concrete tiles to minimize the rocking motion created by the wake of passing watercraft. Two kayaks are available for your sight seeing enjoyment. The dock area has a shaded concrete patio where you can relax and enjoy the beautiful view of the lake. This patio is furnished with a Lux Craft Polyethylene, three person, glider for your comfort and viewing pleasure.

The stone fire pit was built in 2014 for those evening camp fires to roast hot dogs, smores' and to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the lake after the sunsets. The fire pit is surrounded by 6 Lux Craft Adirondack folding chairs for your comfort.

The home is tastefully decorated in bright and cheery colors to brighten your every moment while on vacation. The home offers some fabulous views of the lake from the living and dining room along with all 5 bedrooms. You even have a view of the lake from the master bathroom shower…amazing!!!

The main level living area has hardwood floors with exception of the master bedroom. Carpet will remain throughout the remainder of the house. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to showcase your culinary skills or for mixing your favorite refreshment. The laundry room is located off the kitchen and has a wash basin along with plenty of cabinet storage space.

The main level living and dining area features a wood burning fireplace and large screen TV. The large deck can be accessed from the dining room and the master bedroom. The deck features two sets of patio furniture with seating for up to 12.

The main level master bedroom has a king bed, his and her closets, a very large bathroom with a jacuzzi tub and glass enclosed shower.

The upstairs loft functions as an evening TV/game area with two sleeper sofas.

The three second level adult bedrooms feature 2 king beds and one full bed. The second level kids bedroom consist of 2 twin beds and 2 full beds and can sleep 6 comfortably. These 4 beds have wooden pallet headboards from Lowe's scrap pile to complement the decor. Your kids will love this room designed and decorated just for them. Each bedroom has a large closet to hang and store your belongings. Two of these bedrooms have private walkout balconies with great views of the lake.

The second floor bathroom is huge. You could have a party in there. A large glass enclosed shower and a jacuzzi tub highlight this bathroom. The sitting area is a big hit with the ladies to put their make-up on. The large two sink vanity offers ample space for many.

The basement rec room is a great place to relax and watch TV/movies or play games. This room also offers some great views of the water with a walkout to the lake.

Professional architectural and landscape lighting by Nitelites Inc. adds to the ambiance of the property at sundown.

A two car garage on the main entrance level has a second refrigerator for your use. This garage floor has been professionally coated by Garage Floor Coating of Southwest Ohio and is so beautiful you may want to eat dinner in the garage. There are two single car garages on the lake side. The deck above the entrance to the two single car garages serves as a car port to park your cars.

About Bob Fahncke

My wife and I have lived in Miamisburg, Ohio since August of 1982. We grew up in the St. Mary's and Wapakoneta, Ohio area. I grew up on a dairy farm milking cows and working the farm everyday before and after school while juggling many sports activities as well. My wife worked at the Marina on Grand Lake St. Mary's for many years while in high school and college. We are both graduates of Miami University, in Oxford, Ohio. We spent the first three years post college as teachers and coaches in eastern Ohio. I recently retired from the Bristol-Myers Squibb Company after 33 years as a sales representative.

My wife has been retired for several years after working in the education field as a teacher, college recruiter, admissions director and president of a small proprietary graphic arts college. We have three grown children and seven grandchildren.

Bob Fahncke purchased this house in 2013

Why Bob Fahncke chose LaFollette

The home and property is situated on a private peninsula with a gentle slope to the water and a very easy to navigate driveway. Also, the Big Creek area of the lake is free of all the congestion and boat traffic associated with other areas of the lake.

What makes this house unique

When we started our search for a home on Norris Lake we looked at many properties on various areas of the lake. We looked at new homes, under construction homes and existing homes with an open mind regarding what we wanted in a lake house. Most of the homes we viewed had more bedrooms and baths and were priced lower than Tranquility Point but had steep driveways and/or many steps to the water. Every time we viewed this property and this house it just felt like home. Finally after viewing this property and home for the third time my wife and I looked at each other and said 'why are we continuing to look at other properties. This one feels like home'. The most redeeming feature of this property is the convenience that it offers families of all ages. The gentle slope to the water with no steps is hard to find on the lake. The private boat ramp and convenience of launching and retrieving your boat from the property is another hard to find feature on the lake. The ample parking for cars and boat trailers on the property is another plus compared to many homes we viewed. Many of the homes we have rented in the past have had many steps to the water and steep driveways that made navigating the property a challenge...not here at Tranquility Point. The gentle slope of the driveway and the private wooded peninsula is a homeowners dream. And then there is the amazing views from virtually every room in the home. The Big Creek area of Norris Lake is peaceful without all the congestion and boat traffic of other areas on the lake. When we factored all these unique features into our decision, this was the perfect place.

Only place to rent on the lake

  • 5 of 5

We have been coming to the Big Creek area of Norris Lake since we were in our early 20's. This is by far THE BEST place to stay on the lake. In fact, we stayed here last year and have the next 2 years reserved already. There is so much that is fabulous about this rental that I honestly don't know where to start. The location is amazing. It is so awesome to be able to see all the activity on the lake from the boat dock and fire pit. The boat ramp eliminates the hassle of putting in at the public launch or marina and boating 10 minutes to the house. The boat ramp and peninsula provide a nice area for rock fishing, wading for younger children, and for people with physical limitations to experience the water. The gradual slope from the house makes it so easy to cart a cooler to and from the house as well walking up after a full day of water skiing. The dock is super spacious and provides hours of entertainment for all with the diving board, water slide, and kayaks. The house itself is meticulously maintained. It is so clean and is furnished beautifully. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to cook up some great gourmet meals. There is so much space in the house that it doesn't even begin to feel crowded with 16 people in it. Lastly, the owners are phenomenal. They are committed to making sure your family enjoys the Norris Lake experience. They want you to enjoy the house and make great memories. When we are there, it feels like our own slice of heaven. After staying here there is NO other place I would ever rent on Norris Lake other than Tranquility Point.

Didn't want to leave.....

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Norris Lake and was worth every bit of the 14 hour drive from WI. The house was essentially perfect. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook breakfast, lunch and dinner (the grill was perfect and plenty big enough to cook for 10+). The boat ramp was a HUGE bonus. I know you only put your boat in once and tie it up on the dock for the week, but it's the end of the vacation where this becomes a bonus. Instead of driving 15-20 minutes to the nearest marina, loading your boat, and then driving back to the house (because we all load our boat with most of the junk we brought); it was so nice to load at your private ramp, drive it up the driveway, load and head home. HUGE CONVENIENCE! And the dock was awesome. Kids loved the diving board, as well as adults. The water slide was a cool feature. The swimming dock was big and we used it to spread all the life jackets out to dry, etc.

Back to the house........the deck area was perfect with multiple tables to accommodate everyone. A good portion of the time was spent here. The bedrooms were comfortable. The living room was relaxing. The TV was perfect for viewing the Olympics during our stay. There is a finished basement with huge couch and TV which we never even used. We used the fire pit a few nights....perfect. Even the trash pick up was convenient.

The owner has been a pleasure to work with. Very easy going, very personable. We had no issues during our stay and the owner even checked in to make sure all was good. When we arrived, there is a notebook with detailed instructions - for trash pick up, how to turn on water slide, etc.

One huge point to make. When we were researching rental homes for Norris Lake, we were hoping to avoid a lot stairs, and especially steep stairs, which is nearly a impossible task. But we had grandparents with us, both in their 60's, one with a bad hip and two knee replacements......and they handled the walk from the home to the dock multiple times a day without issue.

We can't thank you enough for allowing us to stay at your perfect paradise. We definitely want to come back. Hopefully we can squeeze in again next year! And even the grandparents say "Tak" (hint: they are Danish).

If you liked the current dock, wait until next year when our new dock is in. We are honored that you would like to return and look forward to hosting you again.

Perfect for Families!

  • 4 of 5

We spent a fabulous 3-night Labor Day vacation at Tranquility Point and hope to return one day! Our party consisted of 6 adults and 4 kids (ages 8, 5, 4 & 1) and the home was absolutely perfect if not too complaints there though as we all had plenty of space to sprawl out. The bonus room was ideal for the kids as we read nighttime stories together and they enjoyed a "sleepover" atmosphere. The decor was fresh and modern, the furniture was sturdy, comfortable and well maintained. The photos are very accurate to what you'll experience at Tranquility Point. The "gentle slope" is MUCH less severe than the surrounding properties and we saw very few with such easy water accessibility during our stay. The dock, with the diving board, slide and sun platform, was a huge hit. It was large enough for our entire group to hang out on and enjoy the day. There were a few things that contributed to only 4 out of 5 stars and those are the lack of life vests at the dock for swimming/kayaking, the inconvenience of having to bring general consumables (toilet paper, paper towels, bath/dish towels, etc.) and no wifi combined with horrible cellular service at the house. All-in-all we had a wonderful time, the property is managed by a lovely family and we will be back if our schedules allow!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your very kind review of Tranquility Point. The property is fantastic and there are very few like it on the lake. We try to maintain our home as a true vacation destination where family and friends can spend quality time together without outside distractions. Cell service is spotty throughout the entire lake area but my brother- in-law is able to conduct his daily business with his cell phone on our deck every day we are on vacation. The land line phone has unlimited local and long distance calling for renter use. Sorry about the consumables and life jackets. We rented on Cumberland and Norris for 15 to 20 years prior to our purchase and none of the homes we rented provided these items. Thanks again for writing and we would love to have you return.

Our New Favorite!!

  • 5 of 5

We've been making trips to Cumberland and Norris for years and this was by far our favorite property! Lets start with arrival as the private boat ramp was a great feature and even more of a convenience than expected! We got a chance to pull right in to the house, unload a few bags and get the boat in the water right away! The kids loved the fact that we didn't lose half a day going back and forth with the boat and trailer and we had them in the water in less than 30 minutes! The water slide and the diving board also made for happy kids when we didn't have them on the boat! Once we finally spent some time inside, we felt right at home. The home is beautifully decorated and had amenities for both the kids and adults. The kids loved the little kids hide-a-way room with no windows where they could all Camp out in separate beds and we liked that they slept in a little. The adults loved the gorgeous bedrooms and the spa-like bathrooms!!!! Lastly, the most stress free part was not having steps to get back down to the water! We didn't have to worry about the kids getting hurt and carting coolers around was easy with them on wheels! We typically try to stay in a new place every year. This place changed our mind!

Pictures do not do justice!

  • 5 of 5

A few friends and I rented this property to have a girls getaway and relax in August. This house was perfect! We have rented places at Norris for many years and this was by far the best. The pictures do not do this place justice. The decorating of the house was amazing, there was plenty of space and we loved that there was no stairs and also a fire pit to enjoy in the evening. We loved everything about this place and can't wait to rent again next year!

Relax and Renew

  • 5 of 5

Our family of five was able to enjoy a much needed break away from the constant of our daily lives. The house is quite beautiful with spacious rooms that are decorated well. The full bathrooms are great. There is a nice boat entry as well. The kids enjoyed swimming, snorkeling and canoeing in the water around the cove, along with use of the diving board and slide. The breathtaking views were my favorite, they could be seen from the back porch while eating our meals, from the dock or while out on the lake while boating. The water is amazingly clear and adds to the overall beauty of the location. Our family enjoyed the trip and plan to return next year!
