The Space
+Inside the beautiful, custom home itself, you’ll find a spacious living area, fully-equipped kitchen, and 2 bedrooms, each furnished with a comfy queen bed. A full bathroom is included in the primary bedroom, with another half-bath off the common area. To provide a special, close-to-nature feel, an additional outdoor — yet private — shower is a fantastic experience for visitors who don’t mind rinsing off under the night sky.

+Outside Casa Don Marcos, you’ll be surrounded by breathtaking scenes: poolside vibes, nap-inducing hammocks and chairs, monkey-boasting mango trees, and the bliss of sea breeze and sunshine. The beach is ridiculously walkable, with calm, temperate waters — and even features tidal pools on the north side of the shore. The hardest part of your trip will be deciding between spending your time at the refreshing pool or on the sands of the Pacific before enjoying a delicious meal in the peaceful space of Casa Don Marcos.

We offer a laundry service for $10 per load on site if you need to wash your clothes.

My family and I fell in love with this part of Costa Rica for its natural beauty, relaxed pace, and strong sense of community. Casa Don Marcos was created as a place where families and couples can unplug, recharge, and enjoy the rhythm of coastal life — whether that’s surf in the morning, pool time in the afternoon, or sunsets with friends.

I run several businesses professionally, so I take hospitality seriously. Cleanliness, communication, and clear expectations matter. While we work with a local on-the-ground team to ensure you’re well cared for, I stay personally involved in making sure every stay reflects the standard we would want for our own family.

We designed the home to be comfortable year-round, with full air conditioning, two spacious bedrooms and bathrooms, and a private pool for relaxing after a beach day.

In 2000, me and my father, Mark — the namesake of Casa Don Marcos — visited Costa Rica for the first time. After spending a week in a small surf town, he began asking if there might be land available nearby. Within days, we discovered beautiful Playa Pitahaya and purchased the very point where the home now stands.

In the early years, with oxen, generators, and a pioneering spirit, Don Marcos built Casa Don Marcos with a vision: to create a family property that could be shared with friends and others who long to experience the adventure, beauty, and simplicity of Costa Rica.

That vision continues today.

Our long-term goal is ambitious but simple — to make the hospitality and the quality of the home equal to the views. And since the views are extraordinary, that sets a high bar.

The coastal environment here is stunning but demanding. Salt air, sun, wind, and tropical weather require constant attention and care. We are continually improving the property and refining our processes to ensure the home remains comfortable, well-maintained, and welcoming year-round. We want every guest’s experience — from booking to checkout — to feel seamless, thoughtful, and memorable.
