About Matilde Alberny

Greetings! We are Matilde and Gustavo, both visual artists. We came in 1999 to New Orleans for an exhibit of Gustavo and barely few hours later fell irrevocably in love with the city.

Gustavo is a well-known artist and regularly shows abroad and other cities of the United States. That is one of the reasons we travel often. We are permanent displayed at Kezic Gallery in the French Quarter

We are owners and managers of our property. We like to personally greet our visitors if possible. We are attentive to all of our guests needs and inquiries but understand that we are not part of the planned vacation. We are available if needed.

Matilde Alberny purchased this apartment in 2002

Why Matilde Alberny chose Marigny-Bywater

We were enamored by the laid back ambiance of the Bywater, a gorgeous and dynamic historic district just blocks away from the French Quarter. We were seduced by the relaxed tone of this quaint, artsy and eclectic neighborhood. So we established our art studio on Dauphine.

The Bywater is the perfect area to enjoy a true local NOLA experience, very close to everything, but far enough to be quiet at night. It is a treasure!

In harmony with the innovative spirit of the residents of the Bywater, restaurants and cafes are gathering attention from around the country, great food is being cooked here! The art and entertainment scene is hip and varied and something amazing is always going on.

What makes this apartment unique

You will enjoy the laziness of the backyard, sitting in the front porch while the interesting characters that live in the Bywater go about their businesses. An stroll through the neighborhood is a wonderful experience.

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

Very clean and well-stocked apartment. Loved the neighborhood! Very fun and eclectic. Found the train whistle and bell tolling at the nearby church to be very comforting not at all annoying. The back yard was very pleasant and secluded. Made much use of that. All in all it was Perfection! Would definitely stay here again!

A quaint little gem in the perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

Cute and tidy apartment full of charm and amazing art. Walking distance to the French Quarter and Frenchmens street. Great restaurants and bars near by. We quickly learned, we didn't need to leave the neighborhood, so many fun places to eat and drink within blocks of the front door. Gustavo and Matilde were amazing hosts, they made themselves available before and during the stay. The apartment had everything we needed, including the outdoor patio. Truly a perfect visit in NOLA. We would stay here again.

Bywater Studio

  • 5 of 5

Mathilde and Gustavo were great hosts, so responsive. We love being near the river and the Crescent City Park. The neighborhood is quiet, historic (Plessy vs Ferguson happened a few blocks away) and you can be on Frenchman St with lots of live music in a 15 minute walk. The studio is so comfortable and well maintained. Hope to come back!

Beautiful Apartment

  • 5 of 5

This apartment has all that you could need. The space is plenty for your stay while visiting Nola. I really felt at home while staying here. The backyard is a plus while enjoying the evening and drinking a glass of wine. You could even see the stars! While we were there is was so convenient to walk to local restaurants or Uber to any destination. The location is great and so are the neighbors. Anything that we may have needed was there. Matilde was fantastic about helping with the reservation and assisting in our needs. Especially since I have allergies. I greatly appreciate how much she did for us. I recommend her place for anyone visiting. She is awesome!!!

This exquisitely elegant, quiet and comfortable apartment is located in historic district of Bywater, once considered a bohemian neighborhood now housing a hipster crowd with it's laid back charm.

It is located in Dauphine, between Louise and Clouet surrounded by most of the shops, restaurants, artists shops, bars and coffee places of the neighborhood.

It is very pleasant to stroll down or ride a bike by Dauphine, Royal or Chartres Streets.
