About Matilde Alberny

Greetings! We are Matilde and Gustavo, both visual artists. We came in 1999 to New Orleans for an exhibit of Gustavo and barely few hours later fell irrevocably in love with the city.

Gustavo is a well-known artist and regularly shows abroad and other cities of the United States. That is one of the reasons we travel often. We are permanent displayed at Kezic Gallery in the French Quarter

We are owners and managers of our property. We like to personally greet our visitors if possible. We are attentive to all of our guests needs and inquiries but understand that we are not part of the planned vacation. We are available if needed.

Matilde Alberny purchased this apartment in 2002

Why Matilde Alberny chose Marigny-Bywater

We were enamored by the laid back ambiance of the Bywater, a gorgeous and dynamic historic district just blocks away from the French Quarter. We were seduced by the relaxed tone of this quaint, artsy and eclectic neighborhood. So we established our art studio on Dauphine.

The Bywater is the perfect area to enjoy a true local NOLA experience, very close to everything, but far enough to be quiet at night. It is a treasure!

In harmony with the innovative spirit of the residents of the Bywater, restaurants and cafes are gathering attention from around the country, great food is being cooked here! The art and entertainment scene is hip and varied and something amazing is always going on.

What makes this apartment unique

You will enjoy the laziness of the backyard, sitting in the front porch while the interesting characters that live in the Bywater go about their businesses. An stroll through the neighborhood is a wonderful experience.

Beautiful Apartment

  • 5 of 5

This apartment has all that you could need. The space is plenty for your stay while visiting Nola. I really felt at home while staying here. The backyard is a plus while enjoying the evening and drinking a glass of wine. You could even see the stars! While we were there is was so convenient to walk to local restaurants or Uber to any destination. The location is great and so are the neighbors. Anything that we may have needed was there. Matilde was fantastic about helping with the reservation and assisting in our needs. Especially since I have allergies. I greatly appreciate how much she did for us. I recommend her place for anyone visiting. She is awesome!!!

Clean and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Maltide and Gustavo's place was wonderful. Plenty of room for 2, though I was a solo traveler. The mini washer/dryer combo is a great perk given the hot and sweaty NOLA climate. The property was very clean, nicely decorated and within walking distance of good food. Highly recommend the drinks/food at Oxalis, half a block away, as well as Cheezy Cajun and Pizza Delicious. All are close by. Gustavo and Matilde are warm and welcoming--and Matilde stuck with me online when I ran into problems booking the place because of software issues (or something equally as mysterious). No downsides--the place and hosts were great.

Some downtime in the Bywater

  • 4 of 5

We had a fantastic stay. The place is nice and is kept clean. We loved the patio. And the Bywater neighborhood is a cool experience that is different to the typical tourist trail.

Immaculate, so thoughtfully put together, and delightful!

  • 5 of 5

Our choice was perfect. The apartment is in a quiet, safe area, the Bywater, yet within walking distance to the French Quarter. Mathilde has done a superb job of gathering everything a visitor could want -- from the smallest -- an umbrella, to a huge new washer and dryer! There are even two great restaurants for breakfast or dinner right on her street. Did I say it was immaculate? It's all in white and so restful after a busy, colorful day! In the morning, we could walk to either Cafe du Monde for beignets or the French Market for breakfast. We loved our stay!

So comfortable, so pleasant, so cool!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a week in New Orleans. This funky, little home in the Bywater was our main base. This was our second trip to New Orleans and we could easily access all areas of the city that we wanted to visit by walking, taking public transport, or even driving our own car anywhere we wished. Parking on the street right at the apartment was never an issue. At one point during the stay there was a mechanical issue with the water and Matilde and Gustavo went out of their way to get it fixed immediately. It didn't impact our stay at all! I've already recommended this property to others - and know that we will return ourselves - hopefully for two weeks! If you are looking to expand your vision, understanding and love of the city - this is the home and neighborhood in which to do so.

This exquisitely elegant, quiet and comfortable apartment is located in historic district of Bywater, once considered a bohemian neighborhood now housing a hipster crowd with it's laid back charm.

It is located in Dauphine, between Louise and Clouet surrounded by most of the shops, restaurants, artists shops, bars and coffee places of the neighborhood.

It is very pleasant to stroll down or ride a bike by Dauphine, Royal or Chartres Streets.
