Great location and great property!

  • 5 of 5

Everything you could want and more. Everything was exactly as it was represented. If your looking for a place to relax, put your feet up and just get away....this is your place. The pool area was beautiful and a larger than expected. And the beach was absolutely gorgeous.

We spend at least 2 weeks a year in this general location, but this was our first time staying on Anna Maria. The local business owners were pleasant and really went out of their way for you.

Valerie checked in on us a couple hours after we got there and again mid-week, just to make sure we had everything we needed and that everything was satisfactory.

I would definitely recommend staying here!

Great location 1 short block from the beach and with a lovely heated pool with hot tub

  • 4 of 5

We were 5 adults staying over Christmas. The house was cute, funky, very clean with modern appliances and showers in the 2 full baths. Headroom is very limited in the 2 upstairs bedrooms, the downstairs bedroom has the entry door to get to the driveway and pool area. There is a front room with a foldout couch and the main sitting room has a foldout as well, neither of which we tried. The kitchen is small but serviceable and was fairly well stocked with supplies (sugar, salt and pepper, soap, oil, paper towels). It could use a decent non-stick skillet.

The main sitting room is crowded, it's hard to imagine more than 6 adults hanging out there. Fortunately, the pool area is lovely, with a spacious lanai. Unfortunately, the noise ordinance is so strict that we were reported for hanging out there at 9pm conversing in normal voices. The pool is the perfect temperature and the hot tub is great when temperatures cool off in the evening. The beach is beautiful, with the softest sand we've ever experienced. The water was cold but swimmable. We had perfect weather, sunny and around 80 every day and into the 60s at night.

The house is easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. Our 1st evening, we walked to the City Pier, where we had a mediocre, overpriced dinner, so we mostly ate in for the rest of our stay, including using the charcoal grill in the lanai (but there was no spatula to use with the grill). The only sort of grocery in Anna Maria that we found was the General Store, which has very little merchandise, all at marked up prices. We shopped for groceries at the Publix in Bradenton Beach. We did order a very tasty lasagne from Vinny and Cheryl's that we ate at the house. We also got good lunches at Poppo's taqueria and Harry's Grill.

All in all, we had a wonderful, relaxing week and we're grateful to have found such a lovely venue at a very reasonable price.

Charming, beach cottage getaway.

  • 4 of 5

Our trip was a women's getaway and we totally enjoyed ourselves. Was the house perfect? No, but you have to realize this is a 1940's beach cottage with numerous updates. It was clean, comfortable and very charming. Any issues we had were promptly addressed and resolved by the on-sight caretaker, Valerie. Valerie was also very helpful with information concerning local services and activities. She made our trip much more enjoyable and was a delight to visit with. I would definitely recommend renting this property to my friends and relatives. In fact, we fully intend on spending another week at Casita Marina next Fall.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your business and kind words. We are glad you enjoyed our 1920 home. As you mentioned the home is constantly undergoing renovations. Unfortunately the City places limitations on what can and can not be upgraded. Hopefully we can surprise you with more upgrades on your next visit. You will enjoy again our resort like pool/spa and BBQ entertaining area, the proximity to the pristine waters of the Gulf of Mexico and to Pine Av. where a lot of the boutiques, outdoor side cafes and restaurants are located. Thank you, Frank

Lovely week with little kids

  • 5 of 5

We spent a lovely week on AMI with 3 adults and 3 kids 5 & under. This property was perfect for our needs. The upstairs bedroom with 3 twin beds suited us perfectly. Since our boys were new to big boy beds, the air mattress fit perfectly between the beds and allowed them to roll out of bed without waking up.

The master was comfortable and the slanted ceilings were no issue. The master shower was large & newly renovated. It made it very easy getting kids cleaned up after the pool or beach.

We had hoped grandparents could have joined us and this house would have accommodated all of us just fine with 3 kids upstairs, 2 adults in master, 2 adults in the queen rear bedroom, and 1 adult on the pullout in the front room. The only concern was lack of comfy seating for a crowd in living room.

We were thrilled with the location. Very easy walk to the gorgeous beach -- even for the little ones. A highlight for all of us was our morning strolls to the Donut Experience and Ginny's & Jane's.

The weather was cold by AMI standards and our beach days were replaced by great fun in the heated pool and hot tub. One the first and coldest day, we all were able to enjoy "swimming" in the large hot tub. It was perfect for our kids to stand on the built-in bench while we lounged along side. On the warmer days, we all enjoyed playing in the pool. There were noodles for the kids and they loved swimming with Miss Valerie. With little kids I was concerned about houses that had direct access to the pool. This house was perfect for us in that the beautiful pool area is behind a gate. We were able to enjoy the table on the patio outside our door without worrying about kids falling in the pool.

Overall the charm, location, spaciousness and pool area made our vacation very special. This property is an older cottage and has the character of one. We did have 2 minor issues, but both Valerie and Frank responded immediately.

Our kids still talk about the "blue house" and ask if we can go back. Not only do I recommend the property, but I hope we can return next winter.

Great family beach home!

  • 5 of 5

If we had planned on staying in very much it would have been a little snug for our 11...6 adults 5 kids. We didn't. We were there for the amazing beaches of Anna Maria Island. Play all day, back to the pool , cook and grill great fresh seafood meals, and then rest after long, adventure filled, fun days.

With the pullout couches there was exactly enough sleeping accommodations for 11. Top bedrooms a little warm. To be expected since it was 4th of July weekend and blazing hot outside. For us worked great because two adults are very cold natured. 3 little girls in their own, very cute, room upstairs was a real hit!

The lady staying next door, Valerie, is wonderful.! She greeted us warmly, told us where everything was located, and suggestions for places to go. Along with taking pictures of all of us on the beach. First evening water wasn't getting hot. Valerie was on her way out for a walk on the beach and we asked her if she thought we should call the owner. She said she'd take a look. Not sure what she did but about 30 minutes later we had plenty of hot water for showers. Every vacation homeowner needs a Valerie!

We saw some earlier negative reviews along with positive ones. For us, for the price it was all positive. Everything we needed. Plenty of cooking utensils along with some dry goods still there. Washer and dryer, yes small but vacation adequate. Toys for the beach. Plenty of patio furniture for outside pool watching. Shaded yard. Even a mango tree for dream fruit for breakfast and an aloe plant for burns. Our families will definitely stay here again when we make it back to anna maria island.
