This stretch of riverfront offers privacy that is hard to come by now as other areas have developed with camping parks and cabins. All within a short drive to amenities in Elkins, from grocery stores to concerts. The location adjacent to the Monongahela National Forest offers tons of opportunity to get outside! Proximity to the ski-resorts (30 miles to Canaan/Timberline, 50 miles to Snowshoe/Silvercreek) offers the option of downhill skiing too for day trips.
The cabin was in a great secluded location. It had everything we needed and great views. We loved sitting in the hot tub and watching the snow fall and river flow by. We will come back for sure!!
Nice well kept cabin 15 feet from river! 3 Star rating. Management is attentive, even during the off season time that we were there. Very soothing place to hang out. Very nice deck facing the river. Hot tub is old and a bit noisy but enjoyable. Pump runs all the time so it is bothersome durning the evening. Beds were much better than usual and allowed a great nights sleep after the days activities.
Kitchen could use updated appliances. No internet and very spotty cell phone ATT coverage. Water pressure is quite low but serviceable, and the hot water has that West Virginia sulfur smell. Bring drinking water and all is ok.
This cabin in the woods was the perfect place for my family! We really couldn't have asked for more. It was secluded enough we felt like we had full privacy, but also close enough to Elkins to make the short drive if we needed anything. Being directly on the river was the best part, and there is a nice sized deck and yard to hang out in. The biggest plus was it was clean!!! We only stayed for 2 nights and housekeeping even stopped after our first night to see if we wanted them to straighten up or need anything. Beautiful place, beautiful area, can't wait to come back!
I would have given the property 5 stars but the rating system asked about our stay not the property. The property was exactly what we were looking for but the rain, threat of floods and medical emergency were not. We had to cut our stay short, at no fault of the owners, but will try to reschedule another in the near future. I assume without the obstacles we faced it was the relaxing weekend we were looking for.
Cabin and property is beautiful! My family enjoyed the river and hot tub.
Cabin is rustic. Smells like backed up smoke and musty, but the location makes up for everything. Right on the banks of the Shaver's Fork. Take some lawn chairs, put them in the river and enjoy an ice cold adult beverage. No real fishing at this location, at least in July. River too low and no real holes. Tried spinning and fly rods and only caught chubs. May be better in the Spring if water is up and WVA stocks. The deck on house is awesome, has a huge hot tub built in. Great place to grill, eat meals, play scrabble and relax. Would highly recommend to all, but know going in the place is rustic. Hold the flusher down for a count of ten and the toilet will flush. Make sure the burners are pushed all the way in to get the stove top burners to all work. But again, couldn't ask for a more quiet, secluded spot. Living room furniture is comfortable and TV works fine if you have a rainy day. Owners brought out fresh towels and toilet paper every day. Bring paper towels and spices if you want them. Again, go if you like rustic cabins (we do!) and you'll love this place.
Outdoor enthusiasts paradise looking to get away from it all. Located adjacent to the Monongahela National Forest that offers a variety of ways to get away from the crowds. Hiking, birding, cross-country skiing, hunting, fishing (both native and stocked), are available within minutes of the cabin. Within 15 minutes of Otter Creek Wilderness Area. Located within 15 minutes of Elkins, WV a small mountain town with lots of art and culture. Augusta Festival in the Summer at the local liberal arts college offers tons of dances, classes and concerts. Live music shows at the American Mountain Theater. Scenic trains rides on the Durbin Greenbrier Railroad are a hit.
