Overview

About the property

1 Bedroom+Loft, 1 Bathroom, kitchen, Sleeps 10

The mission of the Yule Creek Lodge is to provide friends and families a place to gather to enjoy the abundant pleasures of life in the mountains.

Located on 53 acres, mostly bordering National Forest, the lodge has a welcoming feel with the comforts of home. In the winter, the cabin gives easy access to some of the sweetest backcountry and nordic skiing in Colorado, along with with big views and privacy. Skin up to Marble Peak or No Name Peak or head to the quiet nordic trails found in and above the Crystal Valley. Plenty of sledding, snow shoeing and adventure opportunities are found all over the property for hours of fun for everyone.

In the winter the cabin is set up like a mountain hut. That means you bring your own sleeping bag to put on top of flannel covered beds. Pillows are provided. *No cleaning or linen fee is charged in the winter.

In the summer months there will be linens provided with an additional fee.

In the summer the opportunities are endless. The Raspberry Ridge trailhead is just steps away from the front door. Without getting in the car you can access pristine trout fishing as well as explore the town of Marble on foot. The Yule Creek Lodge is the perfect base camp to explore the Yule Lakes, Lead King Basin, Anthracite Pass, and many other high alpine adventures.

This off the grid home includes running water, a shower, indoor bathroom, refrigerator, gas cooking stove and fireplace.

The kitchen carries enough pots/pans, cutlery, plates, bowls etc. to cook and serve 10 people.

Be sure to get your provisions before you head to the Lodge as the town of Marble is not reliable for food and drink.

Sleeps: 10

Master Bedroom: queen sized bed and a Pack-n-Play in the closet.

Upstairs open sleeping plan with a view: 1 queen bed, 1 queen sized futon bed, 2 sets of Bunk Beds

1 Dog Bowl

We love our animals too! We ask that you respect the no pets on the beds request.

We have added wi-fi access with fairly high speed.

Remote and Peaceful Place to Relax

True remote cabin experience. All the enjoyment of being deep in the mountains/wilderness while still having comfortable amenities of home. Owners are very responsive and helpful. Hope to come back again.

Great views and very peaceful

  • 5 of 5

A great place to unwind and enjoy the view that is all around. The cabin was in great condition and very well kept. Only thing that would make it better would be to go earlier or later in the year instead of between the two winter and summer seasons.

Owner's Response: We are sorry you felt this way about your experience at the cabin. The experience you described was not typical as you can see by all of our other reviews. During the winter months we run the cabin like a mountain hut. The guest does not pay a cleaning fee, but they must tidy up the cabin for the next guest. The local Carbondale residents who stayed at the cabin just a few days before you did, said the cabin was very neat and that they did spend a lot of time tidying it up for your crew before they left. Being a remote cabin, it is difficult to continue our professional cleaning service up there in the winter. So, its not quite as clean as it is in the summer, when we have it professionally cleaned each time before guests arrive. The complaints you made to me via text were that the floors were dirty, and there were flies. The unfinished floors that you said were dirty in your text message, are just old and stained from years of use. So far we have kept the floors unfinished so visitors don't need to worry if the floor gets scratched by a ski boot, or piece of gear, or pet. The other thing you mentioned was flies. This is a rare occurrence in the cabin. They are just cluster flies. They are common in higher elevation areas. Adult flies use cavities in buildings for hibernation purposes. Cluster flies often appear in March, when they wake up from hibernation. They do not signal poor hygiene. You can read more about colorado cluster flies here: extension.colostate.edu/topic-areas/insects/flies-in-the-home-5-502/ We love this place and sincerely regret that you felt like it wasn't in great shape for your trip. We are glad that you still enjoyed the experience and the view. Sincerely, Vida Dillard

A great weekend away

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, clean cabin in a great setting. We had a bachelorette party of 8 women and it was the perfect venue. Very well-equipped kitchen and comfy beds. The gas fireplace made heating the place a cinch. We will be back!

One note though: getting out of the driveway when it's icy is quite tricky. Took us half an hour of work to free our 4WD vehicle!

Great place. You'll love it.

Yule Creek Lodge lies just outside the historic town of Marble, Colorado. Made famous by the high quality marble suppositories underneath Treasure Mountain, Marble flourished in the late 19th century. Marble from this mine has been used throughout the United States of America in many of our national monuments such as the Lincoln Memorial and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

While the marble mined in the quarry put Marble, Colorado on the map the true treasure available for all is the wonder of the Elk Mountain's high peaks.
