The Ultimate Beach Home was recently featured on HGTV'S*** "Beach Hunters." Season 1, Episode 13; New England Coastal Home. And, we are dog friendly. How ultimate is that?!
Tucked away in the far, far northeast corner of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is the small, bucolic town of Salisbury Beach ( Inc. 1640 ) AKA Colchester ( Est. 1638 ). Imagine waking up every morning to the sound of seagulls singing in perfect harmony with the waves crashing outside your open concept living area or our three bedrooms. Open your eyes and appreciate the stunning beauty and unobstructed, panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, reaching as far as you can possibly sea/see. Once awake, retreat upstairs to your sunny, open floor plan to sip your morning coffee and welcome the marvelous ocean views with every glance and turn.
Welcome to the ultimate beach home! One of a tiny handful of homes on the ENTIRE span of Salisbury/Seabrook Beach, that ACTUALLY looks like a beach house; right out of a movie, TV show ( which it has ) or magazine. Many say this is one of the most beautiful beaches in Massachusetts/New England and you'll see why. Others feel the same way-
May 02, 2018, BOSTON GLOBE MAGAZINE, recently voted Salisbury Beach the 2nd best beach in New England! They sited great for families, soft beach, surfing, wheel chair access, kayaking, fishing, and swimming. And for consistency, on June 23, 2017, addition of BOSTON GLOBE MAGAZINE, voted Salisbury Beach, the #4 best beach in Massachusetts. #2 in New England sounds much better and we'll take both.
The home offers incredible sweeping views. Light, airy, elegant, clean, quiet, AND direct oceanfront! Coastal livings finest............ Great natural-light throughout the two-level, spacious home, all-year-round. 700+ square foot balcony/deck! The Moon sparkling on-the-Atlantic..... The nighttime is better than the daylight. The moon, visible all evening with zero obstruction never gets boring. Wait until you get to see it rise over-the-horizon and it has an orange glow. Have you ever looked at the ocean, to the east, while the sun sets in-the-west? The water, sky-line, and sand turn lavender! Imagine relaxing on the deck with beautiful pink sunrises every morning or maybe a color, so unique, you've never seen it before....
Week of 9/11/17- Humpback Whales, Seals, and Pogies paid a visit to Salisbury Beach and seemed to stay directly in front of our home for the entire week and within 100 yds of shore. It was quite a spectical! Please see our photo gallery.
How about a rainbow or a breath-taking thunder and lightning storm? Just watch from our oversized balcony/deck.

With five miles of pristine beach and homes dating back to the town's formation, Salisbury ( FKA Colchester ), Massachusetts, enjoys a reputation as a quaint summer colony with historic flavor. Once home to the Pennacook tribe, Europeans headed here in 1638 and never left. Visitors love the rows of traditional clapboard homes abutting Federalist structures and picturesque farms.
Salisbury is all about nature and the coastal waters. It's a big reason this town is one of the most popular on the North Shore and in Massachusetts. The Salisbury Beach State Reservation is a nearly five-mile ocean side park ( plus 2 miles of Seabrook Beach ) offering many places to swim, fish, and camp. The campground boasts renovated bathhouses and the beach offers a boardwalk and playground. Head northwest from the beach and you'll come across picturesque Allen Rock, a marshy island, as well as camera-ready Badgers Rock, a small outcropping on the Merrimack River.
Kids of all ages will enjoy the plethora of mini golf sites, in-town go-cart tracks, arcades, and adults will enjoy touring area farms for produce and flower bulbs, and scenic drives up or down the coast on scenic route 1A. All year-round concerts are held at Blue Ocean Music Hall at the pavilion on historic Salisbury Beach. Most, if not all seats are within 50 feet of the stage, offering a bird's eye view of the performers; both famous and local. Summer concerts are held at Salisbury beach center and weekly fireworks can be seen from our deck.
With its convenient North Shore location ( minutes from 95, 495, and route 1 ), Salisbury is a great spot from which one can organize day trips around the region. Boston is only 40 miles to the south, with spooky Salem even closer. The small coastal hamlets of Newbury and Newburyport lie just adjacent to Salisbury and have some cultural as well as natural sites. 10-11 minutes from downtown Newburyport - fast becoming the #1 Summertime Tourist destination in Massachusetts.
Newburyport, known as the "Landside Nantucket" (only better!) Easily accessible to Boston & Logan Airport only 40 minutes away by car, or 1 hour by train. Newburyport has an extensive offering of Restaurants, Shops, Boutiques, Art Galleries, Theater, Museums, and countless Historical attractions to enjoy! There's fun for everyone to enjoy!

Or visit some of the other countless attractions Boston has to offer - The New England Aquarium, Children's Museum, Museum of Science, and the Museum of Fine Arts - to name just a few!
Plum Island lies just off the coast, offering natural wonders as far as the eye can see and some of the best bird-watching in-the-country. Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Maine, are several minutes up 95 north. Portland, Maine is just under 80 minutes. The town of Amesbury, a re-energized mill town, is less than 15 minutes and offers shopping and over a dozen restaurants. The beaches and historic towns of Cape Cod are just a couple of hours away for a longer day trip or an overnight adventure. You can even take the high-speed ferry from Boston to Provincetown.
With close to seven miles of pristine beach and abundant natural beauty, you'll truly feel your troubles disappear at our ultimate Salisbury vacation rental. Go ahead, we dare you, wiggle-your-toes-in-the-sand!

About Rich and Jean Beck
We live about 30 minutes from our beautiful beach house and when we are there, we feel a million miles away from everything. It's convenient being so close because we are able to meet and greet every renter, if they are interested, introduce them to the home and all it has to offer, provide a brief and comprehensive tour, explain any details, answer any questions, and make sure their stay exceeds all expectations. I'm originally from New York. Came to the area for college, and never left. My wife is from New Hampshire, went to college in NH and Boston, and stayed in New England. We met at work and have been married for 25 yrs. New England offers everything and the best weather in-the-world.
Rich and Jean Beck purchased this House in 2006
Why Rich and Jean Beck chose Salisbury
Why this property? Here's why- Many say this is one of the most beautiful beaches in Massachusetts/New England and you'll see why. Others feel the same way- May 02, 2018, BOSTON GLOBE MAGAZINE, recently voted Salisbury Beach the 2nd best beach in New England! #2 in New England sounds much better and we'll take both! Tucked away in the far northeast corner of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is the small, bucolic town of Salisbury Beach ( Inc. 1640 ) AKA Colchester ( Est. 1638 ). When we viewed the property, only 30 minutes from our primary residence, in October, during the buying process, one dazzling sunny Saturday afternoon, we watched surfers, running dogs, and horse back riders having a blast and we were sold! One of a handful of homes on the ENTIRE span of Salisbury/Seabrook Beach, that ACTUALLY looks like a beach house; right out of a movie, TV show ( it was... ) or magazine. Stunning ocean views and equally amazing views of the Blackwater River Great Marsh. Shade and sun, too, was a clincher that the home offered. Sunrises. Sunsets. Huge decks! This location is far enough from the festivities and crowds, yet close enough to walk to them. The Moon glistening on the water.........End-of-story. Sold! Where do we sign? Plus, as an added bonus- Minutes from our primary home, and convenient to 95, 495, and route 1 and 286. We LOVE this place!
This was our third time here and we love it more each time. The beach and the ocean change personalities daily from calm and serene to perfectly curled waves with amazing beach combing opportunities. The house is top notch. The upgraded downstairs shower was a pleasant surprise. It is a spa like experience. We plan to come back year after year for our family vacations.
Thank you for your three-peat rental. We are delighted you LOVE this place. You are welcome back, anytime. Thanks again.
The property was awesome! Everything you could need for a week at the beach with a beautiful view!
The property is well maintained and the owners take good care of their guests. Despite unseasonable weather we were comfortable inside with an amazing view. Would have loved to try the outdoor shower but the inside downstairs shower was a great and beautifully designed alternative. Although we didn’t prepare any meals it was nice to know all the tools were readily available. When we couldn’t find a bottle opener (I’m sure there must be one somewhere!) I remembered there was one on the provided key chain! Truly the Beck’s have thought of everything to make you feel right at home (and wish you didn’t have to leave so soon!)
Thanks for your review. Glad you were pleased with all the home offered, the views, and only wish we could control the weather. We probably have at least three bottle openers and we’ll make sure the next group can easily find. Thanks for renting and we hope you’ll visit again.
Location, location, location!!!
Our family has been vacationing on the coast twice a year for as long as I can remember. We have done everything from tent camping to condo's both during peak and off season. Our recent stay at the Ultimate Beach Home owned by Rich and Jean Beck was among the top five of our best locations to vacation at in 40+ years of visiting the east coast. You will not find a better location for the money and proximity to dining and shopping as well. The home is clean and comfortable and the ocean view is fantastic. During our week long stay we went to the historic sites in Boston which was a quick 60 minute drive south and then shopping at Kittery outlets a few days later was only 20 minutes north and a bit further up the highway is a great Cabela's store in Scarborough ME. I even fulfilled a life long desire to purchase a metal detector (at Cabela's) and did some treasure hunting on the beach with my kids. Bottom line here is a fantastic location, central to numerous points of interest, and fresh local seafood within walking distance, not to mention the obvious views and wonderful beach. We will definitely be a repeat customer........the Lyon family.
Thanks for your review. We appreciate your time and consideration. We are pleased we made your top 5 vacation list and look forward to a repeat visit. Glad you enjoyed all the area has to offer and more! Thanks also for recycling and composting. We appreciate your effort to keep our beach and planet beautiful. Thanks again, and thanks for visiting from Saranac Lake, NY.
You will not get any closer to the beach!
The accommodations are fantastic. It certainly lives up to its advertising. We were amazed with the views from the living room. The beach house has plenty of room to spread out and allows the guest to get both beautiful views of sunrises from the living room and sunsets from the large wrap around deck. What a great place to bring your family! And again, the beach is right out the back door.
Thank you for your review. We are pleased you enjoyed the views and all the home has to offer, as much as we do, and past renters. We are glad the home comes as advertised and that you confirmed you “cannot get closer to the beach/ocean.” Thanks for making time to write a review and for visiting from North Carolina. Hope you rent again, someday. Thank you.
Awesome Beach Home!!
I normally do not write reviews but in this instance I feel compelled to. Our visit exceeded our expectations. First, the location can't be beat. The beach is steps from the house and it is a beautiful beach. The house is also close to Newburyport which is an awesome town with tons of historical buildings home to shops and restaurants. Another great restaurant was Seaglass, the food, and view, was awesome!!
The house itself was perfect. The bedrooms are on the first floor with the public rooms on the top floor which makes the most of the amazing view. It was clean and well maintained with all of the amenities.
The owner could could not have been more accommodating. Our original reservation was from Saturday to Saturday but due to one of the four nor'easters this year we had to delay our arrival by one day. Mr. Beck was great about it, even offering to let us extend our stay by a day so that we got a full week. He met us at the house and gave us a thorough tour to familiarize ourselves with everything from the fireplaces to the washing machine and dryer.
I can't say enough good about our stay. My husband and I agreed that we would rent again next year!! Can't wait.
Ultimate Beach Home? Ya, it really is!
My wife and I had a weird idea. We thought we take a week's February vacation, and rent a house in the Salisbury/Seabrook area at the Massachusetts/New Hampshire border for a winter getaway. We found this house on VRBO, talked to the owners, and made our plan. We had a wonderful time.
With the ocean right over the dune from the front door, this house couldn't be setup better for beach living. We're not talking a primitive fifties beach cottage here. This is a modern, heated, insulated home with more features that I can list. Wood floors, two gas fireplaces, granite counters, modern appliance, washer, dryer, dishwasher, and every pot, pan, utensil, or appliance you could need.
If your thing is watching and listening to the sea, this is the place for you. With the bedrooms on the first floor and main living area on the second, you get to spend your day watching the ocean from the dining area, or the living room, or on the huge wrap-around deck. The whole house is tastefully decorated. Honestly, if I owned the house myself, there is very little I'd change.
The owner, Rich, was great. He spent so much time going through ever detail of the house, and he was available later when we had questions. We knew we would get along well when he gave us a preprinted list of the numbers of three local vets in case we needed them for our dog.
I'm torn about writing this review, because it might make more people want to rent this place, and that might mean we can't get a reservation to go back! We've stayed at a lot of places on the beach over the years. None of them compare to this place. Thank you Rich and Jean.
Wow, thank you. I’m a little choked up. Our goal is for renters to totally immerse themselves in our home, beach, and Salisbury. We are so delighted you did! We hope you rent in the future. It was a pleasure having your entire family. Thank you, again. Reviews like this are exactly why we rent our home. Thank you for visiting from Derry, New Hampshire.
