About this property

Hike from Home: 98ft to Acadia! 2 Wings & Deck

Blueberry Basecamp is a cherished private retreat presented by Acadia's Edge, opening its doors to guests for a strictly limited number of weeks each year. This is not a year-round rental machine—it is an exclusive seasonal opportunity to live at the literal trailhead of Acadia National Park. Located just 98ft from the Quarry Trailhead in quiet Otter Creek, our 4-bedroom "Two-Wing" cottage offers a modern, high-speed home base for those who value privacy and immediate park access. From Cadillac Mountain sunrises to the hidden paths of Day Mountain and Grover Path, the best of MDI is waiting at your doorstep. With a dedicated office nook, a rare expansive green backyard, and AC in the sleeping areas, we provide the premier "Basecamp" experience for families and adventurers. Book your window before the season closes.

Blueberry Basecamp is a bright and welcoming single level home designed for easy living and a true connection to the outdoors. The heart of the house is an airy, open layout that flows naturally toward the spacious back deck, creating the ultimate setting for afternoon hangouts and sunset dinners.

Between the front and back of the home, you will find a sunny reading nook and office area—a cozy transitional space that leads to the quiet rear bedrooms giving you the perfect retreat that trades the busy Bar Harbor noise for direct park access and a peaceful village soul.

LIVING AND ENTERTAINING
After a long day on the trails, the living area is exactly where you want to be. Sink into plush sofas and inviting armchairs for a board game, or stream a movie on the large wall-mounted smart TV. On sunnier days, take it outside with two Adirondack chairs on the lawn that are perfectly placed for morning coffee or an evening relaxation.

KITCHEN AND DINING
The kitchen is a bright and modern space equipped with stainless steel appliances and everything needed for a Maine feast, including lobster tools and a dishwasher. The interior dining space features a table set for five. For warm evenings, the deck offers a round metal table with seating for four, complemented by additional deck seating for a total of eight guests, making it an ideal gathering spot for dinner under the stars.

BEDROOMS AND BATHROOM
The house features two bedrooms with queen beds, one bedroom with two twin beds and a fourth guest room with a single twin. It’s a great setup for families, with the cozy office area tucked between the front and back sleeping quarters for a bit of extra separation.

There are two full bathrooms, including one with a tub and shower combo and a second updated bathroom with a walk in shower. Each bathroom comes equipped with plenty of soft fluffy towels and quality amenities to keep you feeling fresh.

LAUNDRY
To make the stay as convenient as possible, the home includes a full laundry with a washer and dryer located in the basement. This is the only guest-accessible area of the lower level, providing a dedicated space to refresh hiking gear or beach towels. This utility space is accessed via a set of traditional stairs tucked away from the main living and sleeping zones.

OFFICE AND WORKSPACE
If you need to work from home, the office nook is a great little spot with strong Wi-Fi and a view of the yard. This sunlit corner lets you stay productive between hikes and provides a quiet place to catch up on emails while the rest of the group relaxes on the deck nearby.

OUTDOOR SPACES
The backyard is the place to be with the huge back deck set up with a high quality gas grill and outdoor seating making it the ultimate spot to relax after a day in the park.
The large lawn is perfect for a game of catch, throwing the football or to simply soak up the sun, and with the classic blue siding and a backdrop of trees, you’ll have a peaceful spot to watch the sunset and enjoy the fresh Maine air.

Blueberry Basecamp is a seasonal private retreat with limited annual openings. As the owners enjoy the cottage for much of the summer, our guest calendar is strictly limited to a few exclusive weeks each year. Secure your stay at the Quarry Trailhead today and experience Acadia like a local.

House is the perfect place to stay on MDI for any itinerary. Location cant be beat- close to Bar Harbor yet so quiet at the end of a charming dead end road. House is so clean, comfortable, and newly renovated. Great new baths, beds, deck and thoroughly equipped kitchen. Will absolutely stay again!

Our stay was incredible! The house was spotless and fully stocked with everything you could possibly need. The location can’t be beat! It’s close to everything, yet sits at the end of a quiet road. The hosts were great and communication was smooth from start to finish. Will definitely stay again.

Welcome to the beauty of Down East Maine!

Acadia’s Edge is locally owned and operated, rooted right here in Hancock County. With years of experience in vacation rental management, we pride ourselves on delivering a seamless, high-touch experience for every guest. Because we live and work in the community, we are always just a call or message away to ensure your stay is perfect.

We look forward to hosting you and helping you experience the very best of the Maine coast!

Why they chose this property

Escape the crowds and step directly into the magic of Acadia. Located just 98 feet from the Quarry Trail trailhead, Blueberry Basecamp is a charming blue cottage offering an unbeatable walk-to-hike experience in the peaceful village of Otter Creek.

Modern Comfort: Walk-to-hike convenience meets modern comfort with new AC units in every sleeping area.

This bright four-bedroom retreat is the perfect escape for families who love sunsets on the deck and immediate park access. Skip the traffic and parking stress because here, the beauty of the Island begins right at your front door.

What makes this property unique

At this home, you bypass the chaos entirely. Located just 98 feet from the Quarry Trail, your hike begins the moment you step off the front porch.

While downtown Bar Harbor (only 11 minutes away) is famous for its energy, it can be noisy and crowded. Otter Creek offers a "secret" village atmosphere where the pace slows down. You can walk 2 minutes to the local general store for a morning coffee or hop on the free Island Explorer shuttle to explore the island car-free.

We’ve optimized the home for the way people actually vacation in Maine:
A massive outdoor space with a gas grill and seating for 8—perfect for lobster bakes under the stars.
The unique layout includes a sunlit office/reading nook that separates the sleeping quarters, giving everyone in your group a little extra privacy.
High-speed Wi-Fi (essential since cell service is spotty in the park), stainless appliances, and a dedicated laundry area to refresh your gear after a day hiking or at Sand Beach.
