Gooseberry state park access | Cabin on Superior

From sunrise to sunset...discover the landscape of the Northwoods and the majesty of Lake Superior, where the wild is experienced in comfort. It`s a place to unplug and unwind on our bedrock shoreline, fun for all ages! Read on the sunny deck, skip rocks on the lake, build a fire on the rocks or in the fireplace, watch a summer lightning storm, explore Split Rock and Gooseberry Falls State Parks, bike, ski, snowshoe, enjoy local breweries, tasty smoked fish, and our own wild raspberries.

Modern, spacious cabin with soaring ceilings and endless scenery from every window. Bedrooms are secluded and cozy, with tasteful art and great views of the lake. Single bed in a hall nook and fold-out couch in living room add extra sleeping space. Handsome, fully stocked kitchen features granite countertops, full-size refrigerator, electric stove, and barstools as well as 6-seat dining table. Bathroom with grab bars in tub/shower. Large deck offers gorgeous lake vistas at sunrise and moonrise in all seasons.

Guests have access to all spaces in the cabin except the utility room and owner closet. Home is attached to a rustic A-frame cabin that is off limits but guests are welcome to use the entire front deck. A vintage trolley car at the top of the property is also off limits but the yard in front of it is a great spot to play ball or pitch a tent.

Our cabin is in a secluded spot on the North Shore of Lake Superior. There are neighbors to the north and south along the lake but they are not visible during the summer months and are located quite a distance away.

We are down a quarter-mile road* just off MN Highway 61. Highway 61 takes you to many state parks, hikes, and towns along the North Shore. We are situated between Gooseberry Falls State Park and Split Rock Park - the two most visited state parks in Minnesota. *During snowy months (Nov - April) it`s best to drive a 4WD vehicle in case the road is muddy or slippery.

Deer, seagulls, and humming birds are regular visitors to our property. Look out for families of loons, ducks, or geese on the lake. Once in a while you may spot a bald eagle overhead! Welcome to the North Woods! Of course, you`ll want to be prepared for mosquitos and flies during the summer months and cold temps during the winter. The lake is cold year-round and the rocky shore can be treacherous - especially when wet - so you must keep an eye on small children at all times.

CHECK OUT: Please tie bagged trash and recycle and leave bags in the kitchen. There are extra trash bags under the sink if you need. Please wash, dry and put dishes away and sweep up large messes. Those are the only requirements :)

You are welcome to bring up to 2 dogs for a $75 fee , and you must inform us prior to booking. So we can stay pet-friendly, please pick up pet droppings and please wipe their feet when they come in the house. Please do not leave dogs unattended in the cabin unless they are in a crate. and please do not allow pets on beds or furniture.

Please practice fire safety inside and out. Extinguish outdoor fires with water when leaving unattended. Bucket is in the wood area by the deck door and there is a hose on the far end of the deck in the summer. Close the indoor fireplace flue when you are not using it

There are electric space heaters in the bedrooms and living room as well as extra quilts in each bedroom closet. Please unplug the space heaters and keep away from furniture, walls, and drapery.
