We enjoyed our weekend at Running Fox Farm. The granary cottage is charming, exceptionally clean, and set in beautiful, peaceful countryside. We also felt it was an excellent value. However, several important details are missing from the listing. Although advertised as two bedrooms, the upstairs has two connected sleeping areas without doors. One is an open loft that guests must walk through to reach the other, separated only by a curtain. The upstairs is also open to the main floor, so privacy is limited. The floors on both levels are extremely uneven underfoot, which may be difficult for guests with balance concerns. You also cannot drive to the cottage, even to unload. Parking is uphill, and everything must be carried down a path with steps and grassy sections. We brought a large cooler and would have packed differently had we known. The path is not well lit at night; our niece needed help finding the cottage after dark. The keypad entry itself worked fine.None of the stovetop burners would ignite normally. Management contacted the owner, who initially misunderstood the issue. After we clarified, we received no further response. We found matches and lit the burners ourselves. We appreciated the property's charm, cleanliness, setting, and price. Clearer disclosure of the layout and access, plus better maintenance follow-up, would help future guests decide whether it's right for them.
