Im so glad you saw the personality of the Poppy House, and chaming effects of the views.
I hope you and your family will come back next year. Thank you!!
Yours Truly, Patti
Great place to stay! Well furnished and very scenic water property. Comfortable mattresses. Downside is poor internet signal so one needs to make sure you get the door code ahead of arrival. Also the house number on the mailbox is difficult to read. Other than these two minor issues our stay was very enjoyable and would look forward to staying again.
This is the cutest little cottage on Lake Winyah. The furniture is dated, but honestly, this just added to its cottage feel. It has all of the home amenities that you will need for your stay. The beds were comfortable. The views are stunning. The host is a sweetheart. She communicated well with this VRBO rookie. It’s minutes from Alpena, making it very convenient. I would highly recommend.

Thank you for your review, you are absolutely right!. The boats take effort to get in the water, especially the rowboat. I would have gotten them out for you, but thank you for doing that, the winds change so drastically here and without a hoist it sucks....but good news, Im working on easier access for the watercrafts next season. This time of year, late summer, the lake gets weedy, glad you and your husband worked together and made it happen. Thank you and thanks for taking care of the Poppy House, I appreciate you. Patti
House is just as described, stayed cool even in the 92 degree heat. Only thing I wish the row boat was in the water. Not the easiest putting it in and taking it out. Kyaks were in excellent shape.

Thank you for your review. That row boat is a challenge, you need 2 strong people to pull it ashore. I am looking to purchase a small boat hoist in the future, so if you vacation in Alpena again, that should be resolved. Thank you for your stay.
I have rented plenty of houses. This one was probably the coziest. And the view of the lake is amazing! Having a cup of coffee from the cute little breakfast nook while in the sunroom overlooking the lake was a great way to start a morning. My son, my grandson, and I made good use of the rowboat and kayaks. My grandson caught a few perch off the dock. The home is well supplied and in a convenient location. The host was quick to answer any communications. I would 100% stay here again.

You are so kind. Thank you for sharing your "good times" with pictures. I hope you'll return to our "neck of the woods" . Sincerely, Patti
Super cute home. It is stocked better than 90%of the vrbos we have rented. The coffee/snack station was an unexpected surprise. The cut flowers were a thoughtful touch. The view of the lake from the sunroom was spectacular. We used the kayaks and the lake is so quiet with only a few boats on occasion. My husband caught 3 pike right off the dock. We made a fire one night too. Our bulldog enjoyed the spacious yard. Thank you so much for sharing this home.

Some people are not ment for the great outdoors, Doris is one of them.
On her departure, she left a bag of trash, unsealed at the road. I ended up picking up Doris's trash all over the roadside, and
her dog's crap in the yard and her 3 additional guests. I will not rent to a Doris ever again, so if youre that, dont bother.

Hi! My name is Patti and I was born and raised in Alpena, but lived elsewhere for most of my adult life. 16 years ago I moved back home and loving it here. There's so much to do and it relaxing and friendly. I spent my days hiking through the nearby trails, riding my bike on the Noreasten Bike trail or kayaking on the lake.
