Hearthside at Lake Junaluska

Summary:

Hearthside at Lake Junaluska

The Space:

Just minutes from charming downtown Waynesville and a short drive to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, this 4-bedroom, 4-bath Lake Junaluska retreat sleeps up to 9 and offers the perfect home base for your mountain adventure—with stunning lake and mountain views that make it hard to venture too far.

Two private porches showcase breathtaking vistas, whether you're sipping morning coffee as the mist rises off the water or unwinding at sunset. Inside, a welcoming living room anchored by a stone fireplace invites everyone to gather after a day of exploring the area. The downstairs den — with its own stone fireplace and smart TV — gives the group a second gathering spot or provides a cozy escape for anyone seeking quiet time with a good book or movie.

The house also offers access to peaceful walking trails around the lake, a refreshing community pool for hot afternoons (visible from the porches!), and community pickleball/tennis courts when competition calls.

Whether you're in the area to explore the Blue Ridge Parkway, chase the fall foliage, hike the surrounding trails, paddle the region's waterways, tee off at nearby courses, or simply unwind with the people you treasure most, this Lake Junaluska home ensures you’ll have a beautiful place to come back to.

Spring Break at the Lake (Junaluska)

The house was more than enough and perfect for our meager needs. Out all day at beautiful nearby hiking and sightseeing, but great to come back to a roomy comfortable place with a balcony deck and view we’ll miss but never forget.

Spacious home with real mountain view!

Amazing to have separate bath for every bedroom! We rented for college graduation and had our elder parents and young adults altogether. Porch and views are absolute treasure of property. Would rent again (that’s an unbelievable compliment from me 😃)

We made a good decision

The house has excellent lake view overlooking the lake. It is very clean. It has many large size beds and four bathrooms to fit our need. We will rent it again if we revisit this area.

The Porch is the place to be!

We had a wonderful week at Our Mountain Home. The view from the back porches was lovely and we spent a lot of time there including eating most meals on the porch. The deep toned wind chimes added a lovely touch. The cabin was homey and comfortable with many unique pieces of furniture and decor items that we found charming. We had a lovely time and would be happy to stay again.

Comfortable and spacious!

This is a comfortable home with multiple seating areas and a private bath attached to each bedroom. The view from both back porches was beautiful. The kitchen is well-equipped with dishes, cookware, etc. Our family of six had plenty of room. We would definitely be interested in staying here again!

Beautiful Mountain View

The house was very clean, it was accommodated with the necessities. If it had a washer and dryer I would have cleaned the sheets and towels used.

Loved our stay!!!

Plenty of room, great view from upstairs balcony, near visitor's center, pool, and kids' playground. The place felt quite cozy. The only negative - the mattresses in the two upstairs bedrooms need to be replaced due to being way too loud. Just turning over in the night in either bed would wake your spouse. Loved the place and our stay - especially the walk around the lake and the mountain flowers and foliage.

Lovely Mountain Home

The home was in a lovely location with a nice view of the lake. The only downside is that there were no smoke or carbon monoxide detectors. The house needs brighter inside lights.

Karen, thank you for your review. We do take our guest's health and safety seriously and local ordinances do require the home to have smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to be able to obtain the vacation permit. We have confirmed the home does have combination detector on both levels. We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you.

Perfect sunrise view

The home had a wonderful view of Lake Junaluska. The property was easy to get to. The home was very comfortable and super adequate for our 6 guests. Had a great view of the sunrise each morning and a comfortable rear deck with rocking chairs. Kitchen was adequately stocked. Home was very clean. Props to the cleaning staff

Quiet and convenient

The house was very clean. Location is good and quickly accessible to Waynesville and Asheville. The paper and toiletries provided were of good quality and sufficient to last the entire time we were staying there. The mechanicals (mainly AC at this time of the year) worked with no problems. The house layout was good for having privacy for multiple households. The view of the lake from the upstairs balcony was great and we enjoyed the balcony's. Even the maximum of two parking places was ok since you could park at the bottom of the hill without a problem. We've rented houses of this size and price range for many years and this was one of the best.

Family reunion

Definetly need to do some serious property updates.Patio funiture falling apart, mattresses needed to be replaced, carpets needed to be cleaned, couch had holes in it, I sat on a dining chair and fell to the floor, removed another dining chair that the legs were loose on, no eating/drinking dishes/cups available in the downstairs unit, a shelf fell off the refrigerator door after placing a bottle of water in it. I contacted the mobile unit to notify of the incidents and there was no follow up from them. Location was great, certainly wouldn't recommend for a family outing unless updates are made.
