About this property

Between the Pines | Ski, Hike, Fish, Soak, Repeat

Some mountain houses make you work for it. Not this one.

Between the Pines Ski Haus sits right on the mountain in Big Sky, Montana. A four-story, ski-in/ski-out retreat built for groups who want to be in it, not driving to it. Walk out the door, click into your skis, and follow the road to the Thunderwolf Lift while everyone else is still finding their boots. Come home to a private hot tub with Lone Peak staring right back at you.

The house has personality. Retro bones, modern touches, four levels of space, and enough room to comfortably sleep 10. There are big picture windows that frame the mountains like artwork, a sauna to finish off a hard day on the slopes, and a kitchen made for cooking together. Eat at the table, pull up a stool at the bar, then disappear to your own corner of the house. Everyone finds their spot.

In summer, trade the slopes for something slower. Middle Fork Creek runs right through the property. A walk down to the water at the end of the day is hard to beat.

Please note the fireplace is decorative at this time and not operational.

Ski-in and Ski-out Access:
Ski-in/ski-out access to Big Sky Resort is one of the best things about this house. Here is how it works:
Skiing Out: Walk down the driveway and follow the road to the Thunderwolf Lift. That's it.
Skiing In: Intermediate and expert skiers take Silverknife to the Bear Back Poma. Ski past the bottom of the Poma, follow the ski trail to Low Dog Road, and take the road back to the house.
Beginners: We recommend skiing down to the Summit Hotel, exiting through the front of the hotel, and following the road all the way down to Low Dog Road. Silverknife can be too steep for those just finding their legs.
Snowboarders and Kids: Ski-out is straightforward for everyone. Ski-in can be more challenging for younger kids and snowboarders; just plan accordingly.
Good to Know: Ski access depends on the road being snow-covered. During warm spells or periods of melting, the road may become exposed and ski-in/ski-out access can be temporarily lost. We will always communicate conditions ahead of your stay.

Winter
Big Sky Resort is the biggest skiing in America, and it earns that title every single year. With 5,800 skiable acres, 4,350 feet of vertical drop, and an average of 400+ inches of snowfall annually, it delivers for every level of skier and rider. When you are ready to step off the slopes, the historic Lone Mountain Ranch has 85+ kilometers of groomed Nordic trails through the wilderness, voted the #1 cross-country ski resort in North America. Beyond that, Yellowstone National Park, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, dog sledding, ice fishing, and world-class spa experiences are all within easy reach.

Summer
The mountains do not slow down when the snow melts. Within minutes you have world-class fly fishing, river rafting, golf, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and zip-lining at your doorstep. Follow the scenic Gallatin River along historic Highway 191 and you are at the west entrance of Yellowstone National Park in just 45 minutes. Stay long enough and you will find free concerts, farmers markets, and weekly events scattered throughout the season.
