I had a very frustrating experience with this host. Shortly before our stay, the host contacted me privately and said the property had been double booked and asked me to cancel the reservation myself.I was uncomfortable doing that because the reservation issue was not caused by me. I asked whether I should initiate the cancellation, and after looking into it, I explained that the host could modify the reservation instead. The host then offered to let us stay for only one night rather than the full reservation, but continued insisting that I cancel first.After I explained that I did not want to cancel a reservation that the host was unable to fulfill, the host ultimately canceled it herself. What concerned me most was that the cancellation reason stated that I was not old enough to make the reservation. I am 30 years old, so that explanation was clearly inaccurate and had never been raised as an issue before.We were traveling and relying on this reservation, so having it canceled at the last minute created unnecessary stress and forced us to scramble for other accommodations. My biggest concern was not simply the double booking, since mistakes can happen, but the way the situation was handled afterward and the inaccurate reason given for the cancellation.Based on my experience, I would be very cautious booking with this host.
