Nice holiday home at the foot of the Canigou with garden

The Maison Marie Elise is a beautifully renovated, spacious and modern furnished old Catalan house. It is in a small alley at the foot of the village of Marquixanes, an old, grown place, in the middle of vineyards, peach and apricot trees. It is somewhat inconspicuous from the outside, but behind the door a small, lovingly furnished oasis opens. The house has 2 bedrooms, an open living room (without doors) with sofa bed and TV / SAT / DVD, a fireplace room, a large kitchen, bathroom with large bathtub and shower. The terrace and the adjacent small garden offer peace and relaxation. On the old style stone bench you can enjoy the evening sun and watch the swallows. The house is 40 minutes by car from Perpignan and the sandy beaches of the Mediterranean Sea and only a few kilometers from the rugged mountains of the Pyrenees.

We are often asked about the N116 road, which is very close. The road is limited to 50 km / h in the village and calmed by additional traffic islands. In the kitchen you can hear a soft rustling, in the bedrooms (which face the garden) and in the garden the street is barely noticeable.

Towels, bed linen and heating are included in the price.
Free parking is available 30 meters from the house.

There is no WiFi in the house. But for that: relaxation, nature and the feeling of being at home temporarily in one of the most beautiful valleys of the Pyrenees.

SHOPPING: Within a radius of 30 meters you will find a kiosk with fresh bread and croissants and some basic food, a vegetable shop (in summer) and a wine cooperative. In Prades, a small village 5 minutes' drive from Marquixanes, you will find a large organic food cooperative of local farmers, a weekly market (Tuesdays), an organic market (Saturdays), large supermarkets, a cinema, post office, banks and several restaurants and cafes.

ACTIVITIES: The Vinca swimming lake can be reached by car in 5 minutes. The entire area is also known for beautiful and varied hiking trails (e.g. the spectacular route through the Gorges de Caranca for those who are not afraid of heights), thermal baths (Thermes de Molitg-les-Bains and Vernet-les-Bains), its picturesque villages (Eus , Marcevol, Mantet ...), the beautiful railway line with the Train Jaune, the weekly market in Prades on Tuesday, nice restaurants and bars in the villages (e.g. Café El Lluert in Eus with a fantastic view, Bar du Marché under plantations in Prades), beautiful white sandy beaches (our favorite: the lonely beach in Toureilles Plage with beach bar / restaurant La Baraquette (40 minutes away by car)), Cathar castles (e.g. B. Quéribus, Peyrepertuse) and diverse cultural offers (e.g. Pablo Casals Festival in summer). There are a variety of leisure activities, such as horse riding, adventure parcs, canyoning, rafting, fishing, surfing, mountain biking, climbing. CHILDREN: there are many offers for children in the immediate vicinity, e.g. B. the tree climbing park "Tet Adventure" 3 minutes away, the stalactite caves "Grottes des Canalettes", "Kap’oupa Cape" (ninja course, rafting, tubing, tree climbing park), various Animal parks (e.g. Parc Animalier de Casteil), the sandstone formations "Orgues d’Ille", the fortress town of Villefranche with Fort Liberia castle, horseback riding on the lake in Vinca, the Cathar castle (e.g. Quéribus), sledding and skiing in Font-Romeu and the surrounding area in winter and spring,…
