The Pulken-Yngsjö nature reserve by the river Helge and the nature reserves of Åhus and Äspet are great destinations for excursions, as is the town of Åhus, which is particularly well known for its cozy town center, the production of Absolut Vodka, eel fishing and the miles of sandy beaches south of the town. Winding streets, small alleyways and half-timbered houses from the 18th and 19th centuries characterize this town, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Sweden. A market is held on the cobbled market square every second Saturday of the month from May to August.
