About Steven Robinson
We are a British family who first fell in love with the beauty of Croatia in 2004. We bought this ruin of a fisherman's cottage because of its wonderful location right on the Adriatic sea. It has been a wonderful holiday destination for our family as well as the countless visitors we've hosted each year.
Why Steven Robinson chose Postira
This property really does offer visitors the best a seaside holiday has to offer. It's perfectly located right on the water's edge. The Adriatic is wonderful for swimming with water temperatures at about 24 - 28 degrees Celsius in peak season. The cottage is located in a working fishing village environment where most inhabitants live directly from the land or sea
What makes this Cottage unique
We are now able to offer guests a two stop holiday experience, with a fisherman's cottage on Brac and a luxurious inner city apartment ( sleeping ) in the heart of the roman Diocletian's palace in Split, see property no. 1300888. Also, in 2015 and in partnership with some very enthusiastic locals we set up Gecko Tours, based in Split, to showcase all that is very best about Dalmatia to offer guests a truly authentic view of the area and its culture. Guests of Illyria may be offered discounts on certain tours, so please ask.

Incredible house by the sea
This amazing home was even more than we expected and we had high expectancies. The water lapping up to the back door and the sound of the waves was very relaxing. We ate at nearby restaurants and met several locals down by the beach. The manager was kind and helpful. We knew we were going to be traveling in an off season, but we found plenty to do. We have stayed at many VRBO properties. This is definitely one we will alwlays remember as beautiful and peaceful.
Thanks so much for leaving such a kind review and we are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Illyria - if you’re like us that beauty and peace of the sea will stay with you for some time yet ...
As you say, staying at Illyria in the off-season has its advantages!!
If you know where to go you can still find good restaurants that are open year round but the island returns to its usual fishing and agricultural rhythm in October, free of the summer tourists, which in itself is a joy to be a part of.
Absolutely keeps the promise!
Fantastic holiday in a great location - eased into village life in this central location. Couldn't say enough about how wonderfully responsive and helpful Stephen and Thea were.
Thanks v much for your kind review Brendan and so glad you all enjoyed your stay in Postira and some of the “last of the summer wine”. Regards. Steven
We brought our children to Croatia to experience a bit of their heritage. Staying here on Brac we were able to experience the locals on many levels....from the young in our family to the old we all loved it!
Thanks so much Julie - so glad you and your family enjoyed Illyria. It’s perfect for family breaks - endless swimming for kids and (endless?) wine on the terrace for the grown ups ... 🙂🙂🙂

Three of our family slept down stairs in the kitchen area. All three received insect bites
Ronald, thanks for your 5* review and the kind comments you left when staying at the house.
We are a little confused by your comment on insects and equally why 3 people would sleep on a two person sofa bed downstairs when there are 6 beds upstairs.
Irrespective, we do advise guests to not sleep with the wide sea facing doors open when sleeping downstairs - despite the obvious temptation. Like all houses just a hop from the sea, there are various insects that fly around on hot summer nights. If sleeping below, please close the doors to keep insects out - AC in the summer also helps to ensure you are not disturbed and enjoy a comfortable night downstairs.
We had a wonderful stay here. 10 lovely days . The house is cozy, aircon great and with only 4( almost )adults ,we had plenty of space. Every morning we were greeted by the sea at our doorstep. The terrace is big and parts of it are always shady, just perfect.
Ivan is very quick to respond and super friendly. We'd love to come back sometime. Thank You.
Thank you Astrid! You’d be most welcome to come back! We’ve had many happy family holidays there and always loved the sound of the sea on our doorstep. The part shaded terrace was especially welcome in the baking summer months when all you want to do is do is chill, read a book and cool off in the sea.
A little corner of heaven
This property looked wonderful on the website but location far exceeded expectations. Very simple design with all the necessary facilities all of which worked perfectly. Perhaps cushions on sun beds and an extra umbrella would have added something. Air con was definitely necessary and worked very efficiently. Thank you
Thanks so much for your kind comments Inga and so glad you enjoyed yourself.
Re cushions - over the years we have lost so many cushions to the sea on account of the winds that can pick up on the islands in the afternoon and so - regrettably - we have given them up to the elements.
The property is situated in Postira, Island of Brac - a beautiful and unspoilt fishing village on the Island of Brac. The Island of Brac is just a 45 min ferry boat journey from Split centre - ferries/car ferries are frequent in summer, approx every hour.
The village of Postira enjoys 5+restaurants and a number of bars all of which thrive in the summer months though are never loud or noisy. Fresh caught fish can be bought from the fishing boats in the morning.
Postira is a good base from which to explore the rest of Brac and the other Dalmatian Islands. Brac enjoys many secluded beaches including the beautiful sandy beach of Lovrecina, just over 2km from IIlyria.
