Incredible views and excellent home
Incredible views. Very lovely home. Very clean. Loved walking around the area.
This rental was perfect!!!
Fantastic rental property! I'll be back for sure
Condo was beautiful with a great view and a great localisation. There is a nice path a long the rocks just in front of the house. We saw nice beaches such as crane beach and good harbor, and great restaurants like lobstaland.
This home is a 5 STAR property!
This home is furnished beautifully with lovely furnishings, fully equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms and the best views of the ocean from each porch (3) (2nd floor). I loved watching the lobster men go out each morning and return with their catch. Very quiet property. Nice walk from the house along the rocky coast (a little challenging on the rocks). Very clean and well maintained!
Maureen recommended the walk in the nearby park, the walk along the coast and the Cape Ann Museum. I did all three and enjoyed them immensely. The best restaurants are in Gloucester, Essex, and Annisquam...only a short drive away!
It was such a pleasure to host you ladies. I loved that one woman went swimming every day. That is the tough Yankee spirit! M
Beautiful View - Like New Property
This house was in a beautiful setting overlooking both the Atlantic Ocean as well as the working Pigeon Cove Harbor. This is an up and down two-family, newly built in 2014. Maureen was easily accessible during booking process, and during our stay. Very clean. Located at far end of Rockport; car is needed to most everywhere. You can walk, but beaches, etc. only accessible by road which is curvy, hilly, with busy traffic and would be a long walk. About a 30-minute drive to Gloucester. Two parking spaces per unit.
The description of this house lacks some information needed, as I describe below.
Our group consisted of six adults, and description of this unit is for six, however, there is an additional charge for the sixth person.
Thankfully, I chose the top level of this house because downstairs has little view. The bottom level does not have a front deck, only side and rear, which has an obstructed view of the water from the side and just a yard view in the back. There is a high breakwater wall that obstructs the lower level's view.
Overall design of unit as it functions or was described has minor annoyances: Freezer does not open fully; too close to wall. Front bedroom has queen bed with beautiful view; when the sun comes up, the drapes are inadequate, you need eye masks to sleep. To use the hall door to this room fully, you must move the bed at an angle to get around it. Small closet, tall, narrow dresser.
Back bedroom, double bed and no futon (as described); two adults in this bed was not comfortable(could fit queen). Backyard view, large closet, desk/chair.
Third bedroom in back, king bed, backyard view, side porch with bistro set for 2, ocean view. No closet, but wall-mounted rod and shelf for hanging clothes over a dresser.
Larger bath has tub/shower, two sinks, little counter space and toilet. Tub/shower has one shelf for toiletries, not adequate for 4. Smaller bath, shower only, adequate for 2.
Side porch seats 4. Front narrow deck seats 4. Both use cushions; when rains cannot be used. LR seats 5. Kitchen table seats 6, island seats 4.
Prepare to shop for essentials: salt/pepper, paper goods, disposable grill pans. Grill in backyard, shared utensils which only lower level had utensils.
Better info/map of beaches/town needed, as you must use road to get around. Needed flashlights when power went out for 1 hr. which Maureen allowed 1 hr. late checkout. Overall, unit very good value but design function for 6 lacking.
Thanks for your response. Patricia's response is so lengthy that I will not address all her points. I will provide this insight. Patricia lost power for one hour. I had several night lights that turned into flashlights. Patricia woke me up at 11 PM to tell me that she lost power and was at a loss as to what to do. This is not a 24 hour hotel but a VRBO. If you need a 24 hour service, then this is not the place for you. Also, the fact that Patricia gave a detailed review of the first floor (where she did not even stay nor enter) is bewildering to me.
it really is the coolest house in Rockport
This house is amazing! We lucked out and woke up to a great sunrise every day on our 9 day stay. This house has a view for everyone; expansive ocean, rocky coastline or a working fishing cove. There is a deck to enjoy all of these views (or enjoy sun/shade at any point in the day). The house is nicely appointed with very comfortable beds. There is nothing like sitting at the kitchen island in the morning with a coffee watching the boats leave Pigeon Cove and feeling the ocean air rush through the house (pulling in the sweet smell of cedar from the siding). We found ourselves bringing home takeout food for lunch (usually from the Lobster Pool, just up the street) so we could sit on the deck and enjoy the sun and stare at the glistening water. It is extremely quiet at the house, tucked in just off the main road and only 1 mile to town (a nice walk in the morning for homemade doughnuts at Brothers Brew coffee shop). There are a ton of beaches within a ten minute drive from the house and it is located in the heart of some of the most amazing sightseeing. Maureen checked in with us during the week to make sure everything was going well and was always reachable by phone/text. We hated to leave this beautiful house and look forward to coming back next year!! Thank you Maureen!
John, thank you for this great review. It was also a pleasure to host you and your family!! I am so glad that you had a great time. We think it is a great place but validation from our customers is the best. Thank you, M
Home is located at the edge of the Rockport Breakwater. Pigeon Cove is on one side and the ocean is on the other side. Second floor residence has expansive views of Pigeon Cove and ocean. Great place for families. Located on a private way.
