This beautiful 3 bedroom home has frontline water views of Bodega Bay. Relax in the hot tub on the large private deck, take a hike in the State Park next door, bike to bodega head and whale watch, kayak in the harbor, or curl up and read a good book.
Each bedroom has a full private bathroom, 2 terry cloth bath robes and slippers, flat screen TV, new foam mattress (deluxe tempurpedic king in the master), high thread count sheets and a down comforter.
The brand new kitchen is well equipped with stainless steel appliances, granite counters, cloth napkins, martini glasses and everything you might need to make a great meal. Enjoy the cozy living room while you watch the birds on the harbor and listen to music on the stereo with iPod dock. There is high speed internet.
Step outside to the expansive deck with seating for 8 around the teak table or enjoy a soak in the very private hot tub while you watch the fishing boats pass by.
I'm a graduate of UC Berkeley from the school of natural resources and have a law degree from Loyola Law school in Los Angeles. For the past 28 years I have had my own law firm in the beautiful town Petaluma. I am an outdoor enthusiast and love to travel anyplace I can be in nature. While a great city is a wonderful place to visit, if it's not nearby some natural wonder, I'm probably not interested. I'm lucky enough to live in the San Francisco Bay Area where I have the best of it all. My wife and I have done a fair amount of international travel as well as exploring much of the United States and Canada but we are ready for the next adventure. We love music, theater, dance, great food, camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, and reading.
Robert Oliker purchased this house in 1996
Once you visit you will know why I bought this home. The unobstructed frontline water view is one of a kind. Being the last home before the State Park provides incredible privacy without being far away from town.
Excellent place to stay! Wood stove and hot tub were great! Views from hot tub were wonderful, lots of things to do around area! We went wine tasting at several wineries in Sanoma and Napa area. Great dessert wines at Robert Mondavi and Ballinger wineries. Visited up the shore at Jenner and Russian River towns, walked in Armstrong Redwoods. Fully stocked kitchen with spices etc. Bikes for bike riding around area. Had a great time!!
We had our annual family reunion for the Solstice with 3 separate groups and the 3 bedrooms with their own bathrooms was ideal. The kitchen was small but had everything we needed and the hot tub on the deck was a life saver - it was one of those unusually cold weekends by the bay when it gets below freezing but between the hot tub and wood stove we all stayed warm. Especially nice was being on a great bicycling road so that we could all pedal to breakfast and then around to Bodega Head once it warmed up and the extra bike from the hosts filled in for one of ours that had a melt down. The sunrises was a spectacular background for the lights of the crabbing boats going out - Thanks!
The property is exactly as described. Great location to make as a home base for the Sonoma Coast area. Great restaurants right in the area or a short drive away. Very restful just sitting watching the bay with a cozy book and glass of wine. Would high recommend and will certainly be back to book again. Robert responded immediately to an questions we had regarding the property.
Overall satisfied. Deck could use a cleaning and patio furniture re-finishing. Great view of the bay! Beds comfy, home clean. A bargain for the money! TV in the living room would be great.
Overall house is great, view beautiful and very relaxing. The only thing missing is a tv in the living room, we were out all day but evening enjoy some tv and wine, so, we congregated either in the upstairs bedroom that has a sitting area or in the larger downstairs bedroom. We also found The Tides and The Doghouse to be the best eating places for clam chowder and hamburgers. The Spud Point Crab Company's chowder didn't appeal to us.
House has three bedrooms and three baths, so plenty of space. Views of the bay are spectacular! Easy access through a lock box right next to the entry door. All interactions with VRBO and owner were efficient and seamless. Definitely recommend!!
If you have kayaks, you can literally walk them down the driveway to the harbor when the tide is high. Kayaking in the inner harbor is very peaceful and there is great bird watching. Bodega Bay is also a great place to go bike riding. If you follow Westshore Road around the harbor, you will come to Bodega Head which is a great ride and there is great whale watching for you at the end. There is also great hiking nearby. If you go down the driveway and turn right on Westshore you will come to a boat launch and campground. Almost immediately opposite the campground you will see a break in the fence and a trail which crosses the bluff (watch for ticks) and goes all the way to a very private beach. There is also a great hike around Bodega Head from the main parking lot. If golfing is your preference, check out the Links at Bodega Harbour. Call for a tee time.
There is horseback riding nearby at Chanslor Ranch which is just north of town.
Eating is also a great local activity. Right around the corner on Westshore is the Spud Point Crab Company for excellent clam chowder and fresh crab, or the sandwich shop next door which has a killer tri tip sandwich. If you go back to Eastshore Road, there is a small shopping center that has a nice coffee house and Terrapin Creek Restaurant which I think is the best restaurant in Bodega Bay. While you are there, check out Local Color which is a fine collection of local artistic talent. If you go back to Bodega Highway, Pelican Plaza has a nice market with good sandwiches and right at the corner is the Boat House which is my favorite for fish and chip. There is also Lucas Wharf and Inn at the Tides are larger restaurants which are both good and both sell fresh local seafood. A little further down the highway hidden behind a berm on the highway is the Dog House which has great burgers, hotdogs and fries.
There is also an ice cream store right there.
