This cottage is completely renovated and updated with all the amenities, including air conditioning. Not that you'll spend a lot of time inside with such easy access to the expansive, sugar-sand beach!
Our beach right-of-way, right outside our front door, is flat (no bluff or stairs). No need to carry chairs with you- adirondack chairs await for you there.
We have a second beach right out our door on Pigeon Lake. We call it the 'baby beach.' It's small, there are little or no waves, and there's even a baby swing. Your kids will make castles all day if you let them, and you can enjoy watching the boats come in and out of the channel.
The master bedroom is downstairs with a full bath.
A spiral staircase takes you to the main living area with a flat screen TV, kitchen with island, dining room table, and sofa and chairs. From this room you can see Lake Michigan and Pigeon Lake. Want even better views? Take the spiral staircase up another level to a lookout.; it's a great place to drink your morning coffee.
Just off the main living area is another full bath and a bedroom with bunk beds. The lower bunk is a full size bed. The upper bunk is a twin.
Want to take a walk? Literally out the front door is a half-mile boardwalk that takes you along Pigeon Lake and out a ways into Lake Michigan. Continue on the road past end of the boardwalk, hang a left when you get to the main road, and you'll find yourself back where you started - a 2 mile loop.
We each (separately) grew up on the lake. When Rob's father passed away, we used some of the inheritance to invest in a cottage for our children to grow up with summers on the lake as well.
Rob & Mary Anderson purchased this cottage in 2010
This property has lake views, sits on the corner of Lake Michigan and Pigeon Lake (giving us both the small lake and big lake vibe), has no steps to the beach, and has uninterrupted beach (unlike some property that has barriers every 100 yards marking off the property).
We love our beach. We love that the cottage is halfway between Grand Haven and Holland, so if we want the 'boutique' feel of a small town or if we need to pick up something from a bigger city store, we have access to both.
If you are looking for relaxation, this waterfront home is a perfect fit for you. As we drove into this small, charming community that first day we felt a peaceful serenity and warm welcome. We had come to enjoy Lake Michigan and visit lighthouses in the area and were thrilled that this house had a circular staircase with a gorgeous view from the top. The owners were always available to us, the home was beautifully furnished and well maintained. We loved every minute of our stay here. It is perfect for a couple or a family who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
It was just the get-a-way I was wanting for my family. We wanted to slow down and enjoy time together to relax and experience the surroundings of the lake and nearby communities. While we spent family time on the beach playing in the sand, kicking around the soccer ball, and making s'mores, we also took in activities in nearby Holland and Grand Haven. We spent an afternoon at The Dutch Village in Holland where we watched wooden shoes being made, and my boys (ages 5 and 9) rode on several rides. We also spent a day in Grand Haven strolling the boardwalk and taking it out to the lighthouse. We ate ice cream cones along the way and watched several people catch fish. The cottage where we stayed has been very nicely redone, and it was the perfect size for our family of four. It had all the amenities we were needing especially a fully stocked kitchen where we made several meals while we were there. We really enjoyed our visit and definitely would stay again.
Situated between Holland and Grand Haven on the lake. The home was completely gutted and modernized in 2011 and is roomy, cozy and very clean, with all the amenities of home. The property is secluded in a gated community with no traffic issues at all. If you want to get away from it all, and enjoy peace and quiet, this is the place. You must enjoy swimming and sandy beach time to thoroughly enjoy this property. Great shopping is 15 minutes away in Holland and Grand Haven. We will no doubt return at some point in the near future. Thanks to Rob and Mary for a great home to rent.
This was our 4th time staying at the cottage and we absolutely love it! The cottage is extremely modern and clean and has so many amenities, including a fully stocked kitchen, a grill, and patio chairs. The inside is very comfortable - the living room is extremely spacious, the couches are comfy, the kitchen table is large, there is plenty of storage space for groceries, easy to use washer and dryer, and two large bathrooms.
The proximity to the secluded beach on Lake Michigan cannot be beat! The gated association is a nice touch so that you can feel extremely safe and secure, and all of the neighbors are very friendly.
We love going out to Grand Haven and Holland for shopping and dinner, and we also enjoy the nearby golf courses. One of our favorite things to do when we stay at the cottage is sit back and relax with a drink on the patio chairs and watch the boats come in and out of Lake Michigan to and from Pigeon Lake.
We cannot wait to go back soon!
Being between Grand Haven and Holland, MI gives us lots of fun things to do all summer long. Holland kicks off the season in May with the Tulip Festival. Memorial Day weekend is the first great beach weekend. There are plenty of 4th of July activities in both cities, and August brings Coast Guard Fest in Grand Haven with the greatest parade you'll ever see.
