Watch the sunset everyday,We are on the point!
Kevin and Pat have been coming to the Florida Keys for years enjoying the fishing especially catching mahi mahi aka dolphin, snorkeling and all around beauty. We were very lucky to find this great house on the point that will provide us many memories to come. We would like to share it with you.
Kevin purchased this House in 2013
Why Kevin chose Sexton Cove
This property was just purchased in December 2013. These are the most sought after point lots that have direct views of the sunset. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity and we hope to share with our visitors.
What makes this House unique
Direct Sunset views and 125 foot on the canal, too. This home is not way back, it is right on the bay. Just let me know, I can send more sunset pics.We have Kayaks and no neighbors on our bayside, the lot is vacant, complete privacy. All the views point west to the sunset. Very open floor plan.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
You CANNOT beat this view!
My wife and I stayed at this home for one week and loved it! There looks to have been many improvements to this house to update appliances, bathroom, and bedrooms, which were all nicely done--there are a few things that need electrical improvement, but nothing terrible. In a previous review I read that the floors were not level, and I did find this to be true, but not to the extent where I ever felt unsafe, or it bothered me. It was perfectly fine, in my opinion. The only thing I would have changed would be the shower. The bathroom has been updated, but the old shower remains. Cosmetically it is fine, but I did not like how it felt like it could break in half at any moment--I know it wouldn't, but this is what I felt like. But the view.... THE VIEW! You are not going to find another sunset view like the one offered here. We even drove to Key West one day, and I honestly preferred the view from the peaceful back deck of this house to the one in Key West. Like the other reviewers, we also saw many marine life, iguanas, and chickens every day, and used the kayaks to venture out. I even fished from the kayak one day and caught quite a few fish. If you are looking for a peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature, this is the place for you. And it is just a short drive to Key West. We drove there that morning, spent the day, and drove back that night, and it wasn't a bad trip at all. Lastly, Kevin was great to work with! He sent us texts early in the day on our arrival day to tell us we could check in early if we wanted to, and when we got there we were having issues with the door (user error on our part, not the door's fault) and he answered his phone right away to assist.
Our prior guest just stated: "This is by far the best VRBO rental experience we have had." Another website I have 16 great reviews. The home is already rented for peak season from Jan 1 to March 31st, 2016 ,too. This home was booked a year in advance. This shows that the home is popular and reasonably priced. This home was updated with a super large 60 inch and two 42 inch HDTV Smart and internet connected televisions. Even the internet is top speed. We added a stainless steel side by side fridge with icemaker and all new furniture in the home.I have a full size washer and dryer and central air conditioning. We have an 80 foot dock for your boat and a bay view dock. The price is one of the most reasonable for a sunset view home.Of course we understand the home is not perfect. There are many homes on VRBO for you. A traveler has to weigh the costs versus the location. Some places are really modern but are not on the bayfront. Some homes are on the bay front but the prices are very high. A home like ours offers one of the best prices and the greatest locations with the best sunsets you will find. You can bring your boat and fish right off the dock.
Breathtaking Location in Key Largo!
My husband and I, along with our 2 middle-school aged sons, spent a wonderful 5 days in Key Largo at this house. The location is spectacular - the house is right on the bay in Sexton Cove and running along one side of the house is a canal. We saw manatees swim by along the seawall every day. Our sons fished off of the dock and caught many, many fish, from catfish, snapper, barracuda and even small sharks! They were thrilled with the fishing and my husband and I relaxed on the dock, and on the screened porch while the kids spent hours fishing. The location is perfect for sunsets and the water is so clear that we could see the fish going by: parrotfish, rays and even a spiny lobster! Honestly, we had little reason to leave the house - the kayaks that are provided were great for exploring the cove and canal and the house is equipped with great TVs and lots of spots to lounge with a book (or nap) during the hottest part of the day. We were delighted by the roosters that roam the neighborhood and the large green iguana that would walk along the dock. This is by far the best VRBO rental experience we have had. We had a few questions for the owner and he responded immediately and graciously. We will definitely be booking this rental house again soon!
Needs Electrical Update
This property has a million dollar view, great big screen TVs. The rest was the terrible. The electrical system was unsafe. Owner told me an electrician told him to bulldoze the place.
The outside light had three wires taped and spliced together and plugged into what seems to be a gfi plug that was duct taped to the outside of the home.
The air conditioner/heater (yes there is heat now) was repaired while I was there. I had to reset the breaker three times in a week. The electrical box for the air conditioner was replaced because it was melting. It was nailed to the side door railing (outside). A new thermostat was installed because the old on did not work with the unit and after it was replaced we also had heat. Your welcome Kevin.
The Fan/Light combo in the screened in deck was also taped and spliced together and plug into an outlet inside the washer dryer closet that was on the deck.
One of the switches in the main breaker panel was permanently tripped. I do not know what that controlled
Other orange/yellow extension cords under the place left me wondering what else was going on?
I am not an electrician but I wonder if Monroe county knows this is a rental.
There was not a level floor in the place. Felt like you could fall through the master bedroom floor.
The two kayak seats were both broken.
Our home always gets great reviews. We are an owner/manager and we respond to any problems right away.Guests come to watch the beautiful sunsets as we are on the point. The sunsets are spectacular. Many guests have sent me great pictures of them.Guests even fish off the dock as we are located right on the bay. The guest even showed me the mangrove snapper he had caught. He even told me of the thousands of pics they got of the manatee in the canal. He said the manatees might have been mating right under our 100 foot seawall.
The home is an older home, half trailer and half CBS construction. A new roof was installed in 1999. We bought 3 new Smart or internet connected TV's , from 42 inch to 60 inch, with the best internet services. And we bought all new furniture and toilets .We have a full size washer and dryer and bought a brand new fridge with an icemaker.
Once we were told about the central heater not working we had this fixed by an air conditioner company . The repairman also replaced the faulty circuit breaker. Sometimes these things break and you have no control over this as things do break from time to time. The outside outlet has a streetlight plugged in for the guests to use the dock at night. It appeared that some electrical tape was placed on the top of the outlet and not removed. The guest could not find the remote control for the ceiling light/fan on the porch. A simple call and I could have solved this. I am always available.Regarding the circuit breaker box, this appears to have been updated by the previous owner. Everything is working in the home. The previous owner had used extension cords around the outside of the home. These have been removed and even the old cable dish was removed from the roof. I even offered to take the guest bay fishing but he did not accept. Here is the email : Hello Dave & Michele,I wanted to check and see how things were going with the home? I am down this weekend and might pick up the tree limbs. Have you been able to fish any?I was going to try to do some bay fishing today,Friday. If we go out ,might be around noon. If you want to come just let me know?I just have to go get drinks, ice, gas, shrimp and two chum blocks before I go. Thanks, Kevin .As I said ,we fix anything right away.We refunded the cleaning fee due to their complaints (I never had one complaint before) and the security deposit. Our home is the best priced waterfront home on the point in Key Largo. Just look at our other great reviews.
Very Relaxing Vacation
My wife and I stayed for a week in November just to get away and relax. The location was superb with great views. I enjoyed going out on the kayaks in the mornings. The water was a bit cool at this time of year, but I did manage a short snorkeling excursion off the dock. It was really nice to be able to fish right out the back door, even though not much action, again because of the time of year (did catch one good size mangrove snapper). The interior was clean and comfortable and big screen TVs made evening movie watching even better. Kevin was extremely helpful in resolving a couple of issues with the a/c and also graciously mailed back to us some things we forgot. We had the relaxing getaway we were looking for and will definitely consider a return visit during warmer months.
My husband and I chose this home for a week of diving and fishing and it was just right. In a quiet location but close to everything we needed - dive centres, grocery stores and easy access to the Everglades and lower keys.
The views were just as described and wildlife viewing was captivating. We saw dolphin and many many manatee right off the deck as well as rays etc swimming past. Also had a resident iguana in one of the palm trees and had visits from the local chickens!!
It was great to have the kayaks and to be able to paddle into the bay, up to the mangroves or up and down the canals. One morning when we were out for a paddle we got up close and personal with about 4 manatee who were sunbathing on the top of the water!!
Fishing was good off the deck and I did swim a couple of times from there too.
The home was very comfortable and although we spent most of our time outside it was good to have the lanai on the couple of rainy occasions. We do not spend time eating out and I had everything I needed to prepare our meals etc.
We had a fantastic week here and hope to return before too long.
Great Key Largo Location
My family really enjoyed our stay at this fantastic location. The home has an awesome waterfront on 2 sides of the property. Wonderful sunsets can be viewed from the screened porch or the outside patio right on Blackwater Sound. On our first full day at the property, we saw a manatee cow and her calf in the canal, a once in a lifetime surprise for us, and still talked about to anyone who will listen by my 4 year old.We enjoyed snorkelling right from the property and the kayaks were a BIG plus. We went out on them a few times, enjoying the easy navigating on the sound across to Stillwright point about 15 minutes away by kayak. The owner, Kevin, was very helpful and cooperative with us with our very late arrival due to a delay in our flight and the house was in tip top shape, very clean and well appointed, no surprises for us, his weary guests. The property is very close to a supermarket that had some great organic selections. We had breakfast nearby at the hideout on transylvania ave and loved the friendly staff. There is a little community waterpark close by that our little one loved. We also loved The Fish House and the Buzzard's Roost. Fantastic food and drink are both very close to this property. Just an FYI, we HATED the beach at Pennekamp Park, skip it if you are expecting sand, its the most purgatorial beach experience we ever had to endure. If we come to Key Largo again in the future, we hope this property will be available, it was such a true blue Keys experience! Thanks Kevin!
Visit John Pennecamp park closeby. There is even a zoo and Nascar racetrack in Homestead Florida
