Hünzinger Dorfschmiede - Holiday apartment Igel

Our Hünzinger Dorfschmiede is a former family-run village blacksmith shop. We acquired the building complex in 2019; it consisted of residential and workshop buildings. We carried out extensive renovations on these buildings in 2024 and 2025. Today, these buildings house a total of 8 state-of-the-art vacation apartments. Each apartment features outdoor seating and its own private entrance.

The first vacation apartment has been ready since early 2025. At our “Hünzinger Dorfschmiede,” we will gradually complete a total of 8 state-of-the-art vacation apartments by spring 2025. Due to their immediate proximity (approx. 100 m as the crow flies), these can also be ideally combined with our vacation homes—for example, if more than 4 bedrooms are needed or if a family traveling with you would prefer to have some privacy in the evenings. Larger groups are also welcome here, thanks to the number of apartments available.
Our Hünzinger Dorfschmiede is a complex consisting of three separate buildings. In 2024, with a great deal of hard work and manual labor, we completely gutted this former family-run blacksmith shop—which included adjoining living quarters for the owner’s family—down to its foundation and rebuilt it from scratch. The former workshop spaces were converted into living quarters. Thanks to the building’s past, the property boasts a unique history, an extra dose of charm, and a genuine sense of history.
Today, the property still comprises three buildings with a total of 8 apartments. The buildings now meet current standards for energy efficiency and sustainability. Each apartment features its own private entrance and either a terrace or a balcony. There is also a playground for children on the property. The location on a street with limited through traffic is nearly perfect. Retail stores and three large amusement parks are in the immediate vicinity. For nature lovers—whether with or without a dog—Hünzingen, located in the southern Lüneburg Heath region, is an ideal starting point for hikes and bike rides through nature.
