circular village of Rysum with its cobblestone alleys, right on the
Dollart estuary, only about 10 km from Emden, in the far northwest
of Lower Saxony. Rysum is just a few minutes from the dike and the
Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park. From here, you can take wonderful
walks or bike rides along the North Sea coast, for example, to the
Campen Lighthouse (Germany’s tallest lighthouse), and there, after enjoying the view from the top, have an ice cream, head to Antje’s Käsehuus in Twixlum, or
go to Emden to visit the Kunsthalle. The idyllic village of Rysum is one of the oldest
and most beautiful villages in East Frisia and has received numerous awards for its exceptional
beauty and well-preserved village character, an authentic East Frisian
experience! Here, people greet each other on the street, and you can hear the seagulls and the ringing of church bells.
Children can walk to the large playground with a soccer field on the other side of the
village and let off steam there, or buy pastries for the family in the morning at Buchholz Bakery around the
