Tim Cabell purchased this house in 2008
We built this home in 2008 due to the location overlooking beautiful Virginia mountains and proximity to wineries and Charlottesville.
Enjoy beautiful mountains views while you soak in the the hot tub under the bright stars, or relax by the wood burning fireplace and sip wine under the warm post and beam architecture.
In need of a gathering location for the family over the Thanksgiving holiday, this property ticked off all the requirements (Great location to Charlottesville, multiple bedrooms, spacious home, dogs allowed) along with many perks (hot tub, mountain views, remote location). To say that we were satisfied would be a gross understatement -- Tim and his property exceeded our expectations in every single category. The posted pictures do a good job demonstrating the care and quality of the property; however, do not properly showcase the amount of space available as we had some concern about having 10 guests in one home. These fears all quickly dissipated the moment one stepped foot into the home and realized how much space is available.
Everything was in great working order, all the rooms and beds were comfortable and the spacious kitchen, living, and family rooms facilitated our family gathering perfectly. Having two ovens made preparing meals for 10 guests quite easily and we all found time to sneak away and relax in the hot-tub while taking in the scenic views of the surrounding landscape. Being remotely located meant very few (if any) car noise/light pollution while on the deck or in the hot tub during the evening and the star-gazing was wonderful. During the chilly evenings, it was nice to have a fireplace available for a nice autumn ambiance and Tim responded to our very few questions/requests with an amazing promptness and care. It was apparent from the first reservation inquiry through check-out that Tim cares about his guests and the property. The family is already seeking another excuse to get away and gather and I'm certain this will be the top choice -- especially if during warm months when the swimming pool is available!
The property was an ideal location for my friends and I to have a quiet, relaxing fall weekend together. The house itself is beautiful...extremely spacious and well-equipped. All the bedrooms are large (the master bedroom on the top floor is particularly nice!). Everything was clean/well maintained, with ample space for dining, relaxing, playing games, etc. The location is serene and secluded; offering gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains! Also, so close to a variety of beautiful wineries, which made for a great day of wine tasting with friends! Tim (the owner) was extremely accommodating and helpful. We would certainly recommend this property to anyone!
Our stay at the house in Sugar Hollow was great! The house is exceptional and it's in a beautiful location. Ten friends from college days met in Sugar Hollow to reconnect and rekindle old friendships. Although it rained for much of the weekend we were very comfortable staying at the house because it was large enough to accommodate all of us with room to spare. We spent evenings having dinner together and relaxing by the fireplace. The owner was very friendly and easy to work with. The property was clean and well maintained...although the microwave had not been cleaned but this was a minor inconvenience and had no impact on our stay. The layout of the house is perfect and the house itself is aesthetically pleasing. Although there is lots to do in the surrounding area we spent most of our time at the house enjoying each other's company. I would recommend the house to anyone who would like a rustic getaway weekend in beautiful Sugar Hollow.
Tim provides an amazing location for a truly magical getaway. We had about 10 people staying for a wedding weekend and had the wedding preparations at the mountain house. We couldn't have asked for a more beautiful place to all be together. There were corners for private moments as well as space for everyone being together and really nice bedrooms for all.
He was flexible when we were running late on our drive down to VA and accomodating with all our requests. A few people had trouble with the spotty cell reception but if you are looking for a great place to share new wonderful memories with your group of gal pals, bridal party, family reunion, definitely talk to Tim and book this majestic place.
This property works well for larger groups and the pool/hot tub certainly is an attraction for many types of groups.
If staying again, I would pull a dining chair into the main level king room as there's no seating there & the bed is high (& very comfortable).
Trails around the area are good for exploring & the location is great for hikes, wine, cheese & solitude. We had a very memorable stay!
We own property in Crozet, VA and were looking for additional space for a large family get together. This property was a perfect solution. Swimming pool, jacuzzi, spacious house with many amenities including large deck and patio. Location enables easy access to local wineries, eateries, and near enough to Charlottesville to experience it's rich history and charm. Highly recommend.
Located near Monticello, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Shenandoah National Park, numerous wineries, vineyards and local craft breweries.
