Great retreat in one of the most beautiful places on earth. The house was perfect and met our needs.

Stayed here with our kids and grandkids. The grandkids loved the loft. So nice to have a nice place to come home to at night after spending a day in the mountains. Thank you!

This was our second time booking this property and once again it was a memorable vacation. The accommodations are clean and beautiful, and we look forward to returning again next year.

Excellent accommodation, with all conveniences close to the mountains and Centennial

  • 4 of 5

We loved the comfy great room, the practical kitchen and the views from the front, and evening walks up North Fork Road to see the stars. Foxes and deer to be seen in the early morning and Centennial to explore by day on the way to the spectacular scenery of the Medicine Bow Range. A perfect getaway for a week in the mountains (and a trip to Casper for the eclipse of Aug 2017).

If you are cooking, bring all the food you need from Laramie. The Centennial store provides only the basics (But you do have the choice of several restaurants, a comfy bar, and perfect coffee at the Corral Mountain View Coffee Shop). Dont miss Stromatolite Valley near Libby Lake, the star spangled night skies, the wild flowers and the foxes. But bring warm clothes: In Centennial at 8000 ft nights are cold even in August and at 10,000ft its cold in the mountains when the sun goes in.

Beautiful house in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for almost a week (would've stayed longer if we could've) and loved it! We are a family of 6 (2 parents, 3 20-somethings and an 8 year old) and the house was perfect. Loved sitting in the living room reading, looking at the deer & foxes out front. Worked together making gourmet (our version) breakfasts every morning - had great adventures in the area and the back in evening. Never turned on the TV except one rainy afternoon after a long morning hike to watch a movie. Got up early every morning for a morning hike up the road with our youngest - saw deer and a river otter. Played games at the table after dinner every night - saw a fox run by back door with dinner is his mouth! The stargazing was phenomenal.

Our adventures included: Vedawou, Downtown Laramie, Lake Owen, Saratoga Hot Springs, horseback riding at E & H Guide Services and hiking/exploring in the Snowy Mountains.

Centennial area dining: BearTree is a must for delicious pizza- we caught an evening with a live band out back!, Albany Lodge (worth the drive), Old Corral Steakhouse and the Mountain View for a great breakfast/brunch spot.

Wildlife Galore

  • 5 of 5

The house has a terrific view of the valley, and invariably there are creatures wandering in front of every window: deer and fawns, foxes and kits, moose, you name it. We enjoyed our Independence Day retreat and are so grateful that there's such a terrific house so near Medicine Bow. We hope to return again soon!

Mountain Valley Getaway is located approximately 30 miles west of Laramie. We are 2 miles from Centennial, in a quiet, peaceful area, sitting on four acres. Enjoy sitting on the back porch surrounded by trees and a nearby stream. Medicine Bow National Forest offers an abundance of hiking, fishing, four wheeling, snowmobiling and many other activities. In the area are horseback tours and a wild horse eco sanctuary that also has guided tours. You can even hire a guide to take you fly fishing. The quiet community of Centennial offers a few restaurants and gift shop. This is a great area to getaway from it all!
