About the property

This fantastic 7 bedroom villa is located just a short distance away from world renowned Ponte Vecchio, (old bridge), which represents the very heart of the historic district of the city of Florence. Featuring more than 10,000 square feet of indoor living space as well as a beautiful private garden and gated parking, the villa is an ideal place to enjoy while visiting the area.

The whole villa has recently been extensively and carefully renovated with brand new beds, mattresses, sofas, curtains and carpets of the finest Italian quality, as well as new paint for each room. Several unique pieces of furniture have also been added so to create a very elegant, sophisticated and cozy atmosphere.

The interiors of the villa, all with the characteristic high ceilings, are spread over 4 floors, accessible either through the perfectly working elevator or the beautiful stone stairs.

On the ground floor there is the fully equipped kitchen directly connected to a first dining room, a living room with tv, a laundry room (with washer and dryer) and a powder room.

On the first floor, which is the floor where the main entrance is located, there is two large living rooms, of which one with 42' TV (with Sky satellite channels), the main dining room with a large table, a service kitchen, 2 guest bathrooms and one bedroom.

On the second floor there is the two main Master bedrooms, both with large walk-in closets room and bathroom, as well as powder room and an additional double bedroom.

On the third floor, there is 3 more double bedrooms and one additional bathroom.

All bedrooms are air-conditioned.

Location details: the villa lies on the famous viale Michelangelo and is ideally located to visit the city of Florence, as it is only about a (beautiful) 15/16 minutes walk away (1.2 miles) from the Ponte Vecchio bridge, world renowned Uffizi museum or piazza della Signoria (to name just a few examples), which all represent the very heart of the historic district of the city of Florence.

As an alternative to walking, there is a bus service that works extremely well, with plenty of buses running in and out the historic district of the city every few minutes (the nearest bus stop is located within a 2 minutes walk away from the villa). So either on foot, by bus or by taxi it is very easy to reach the historic center of town, without the need of having a rental car.

The nearest restaurants, breakfast places, pharmacy, grocery stores, etc.. are all within walking distance.

Birthday Celebration (December 2016)

  • 5 of 5

Our group included 8 people staying at the Villa to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. I know that all of us enjoyed the experience and I'm sorry that it was only for 6 nights. We found the Villa to be as advertised. It was, in fact, bigger than I had imagined. The group didn't even use some of the rooms on the lower floor. It was clean and well-maintained. (Edgar and Loredana should be commended.) Fortunately, I had included the housekeeper as part of our rental - a wise decision.

During our first night at the Villa, we had a dinner catered by Caterina's husband, Enrico, who also provided our group with a history of the house and neighborhood. Each day we walked to the heart of Florence in 20 minutes and spent most of our time sightseeing and sitting in cafes. Our celebration and visit was a complete success and the Villa played an integral part of that success. Overall, every expectation for our stay was met or exceeded. I would highly recommend this Villa to my friends.

Constructive comment: as one would expect in much older homes, there was the occasional malfunctioning light switch but I understand that an electrician is being scheduled. And while the Villa had a small stereo in the main living room, I was glad that we had packed speakers which allowed us to stream music through the Villa's WiFi and our laptop.

Great stay for our large family

  • 5 of 5

We had a family vacation to visit our daughter studying abroad in Florence and this house was one of the highlights of our trip. It is a lovely historic home, in a very beautiful neighborhood close the downtown Florence. The stay was easy with a full time housekeeper, who is very friendly and helpful. The home is in great condition and everything is their for you, washer/dryer, and full kitchen.

We had a fantastic dinner catered for 14 by Caterina, Enrico, and their staff, it was fantastic and magical. At first it seemed a bit pricey, but was a great bargain. They provide a complete experience with the great wait staff, and excellent chef. The dining room setup was beautiful, they go all out to make the dinner memorable for you! Thanks Enrico and Caterina.

Couldn't have been better!

  • 5 of 5

For our tenth anniversary, my wife and I decided to renew our vows in Florence because we traveled there on our honeymoon. We invited some friends and before we knew it, we had ten people traveling with us and eight more attending the ceremony. I was a little concerned by this property because it seemed too inexpensive to be nice and sometimes photos can hide defects with a rental property. The moment we set foot in the villa, I found my concerns were unfounded. The property is amazing: super-high ceilings in every room, massive doors and more staircases than I could count. It was clean and enormous. In spite of all the amenities inside, some of our best times during our stay were simply sitting on the front porch, high above the street and drinking local wines while staring into the hillsides in the distance.

I asked the villa owner for help in finding a place for our vow renewal ceremony. I was surprised to find that they also own a restaurant and do catering and have handled several weddings on the property. After seeing a proposed menu, I put myself in their hands and I’m so glad that I did.

Enrico and Caterina handled every aspect of our party. They provided professional staff, wine & prosecco, a seated dinner for twenty (six appetizers followed by risotto with robiola cheese, rose petals and raspberry powder followed by filet with Chianti wine reduction and potato puree and finished with a selection of desserts), flowers & centerpieces, wedding cake and even a DJ. They set everything up without any direction and cleaned everything up the next day. All I had to do was pay the bill and have a great time.

My only regret is that it may be some time before I can find a large enough group to rent the villa again because staying there I felt like George Clooney must feel when he stays in his Italian villa. If you have a group traveling to Florence, I can’t recommend this property highly enough and I can’t express how thankful I am to Enrico and Caterina for making our anniversary celebration an event we’ll remember fondly for the rest of our lives.

Superb Accomodations!

  • 5 of 5

I rented this lovely and spacious villa to house family members and friends that were attending my daughter's wedding in Florence.

We accommodated 11 guests, along with hosting a welcome reception for a total of 35 than were staying in apartments nearby.

We couldn't have been more pleased with the hospitality and comfort experienced by all. Bedding was top notch, villa was tastefully decorated and quite frankly, beyond my expectations. Evenings were spent with doors open to the splendid veranda overlooking the boulevard(yes. traffic, but not enough to be a distraction). It was a bit chilly at night due to the fact that heating was not accessible during our stay...perhaps our only issue. Wi-Fi worked throughout the villa, a blessing as final wedding arrangements were being made up until the day of the ceremony.

Caterina and Enrico arranged for an impressive welcome apertivo for the wedding attendees with fine appetizers and wine that was raved about by all, Inclement weather did not create a challenge, as the formal living/dining room off the veranda was more than satisfactory.

Housekeepers were available but not obtrusive, with beds made daily, trash emptied and any stray glass picked up, washed and ready for future use

It was conveniently located within walking distance to dining and historic city center and sunsets at Piazza Michelangelo.

Piazzale Michelangelo is a most impressive villa and one that I would highly recommend for family and friends visiting Florence.

Very nice but experienced a few inconveniences

  • 4 of 5

There were 15 in our group and easily accommodated. The location was convenient and a short walking distance (a 1-1/2 mile walk to the Ponte Vecchio) to Florence. Overall, the villa was great. However, there were shortcomings in some areas - Edgar (our assigned maid) was "out of service" until 10/6 and no back-up was provided; All the amenities were available as promised, but there were no instructions on how to use stove, washer or dryer. Gloriana, property manager, was accommodating but, rightfully, overwhelmed with no help available to here. That being said, I did enjoy my stay and would stay there again and recommend to friends, suggesting they ask for a checklist explaining how things work.

Magical Wedding

  • 5 of 5

My, now husband, and I chose this villa as the venue for our wedding. The way I had planned it kept our wedding simple wedding set in a beautiful location. It was important to us that all of our guests be able to stay with us and that we would be in a location that would entertain everyone during the day. We could not have chosen a better location. Not only was the villa GORGEOUS, but it was an incredibly romantic setting. More than that, the staff of the villa was fabulous, they really went above and beyond. Caterina, the owner of the villa, made sure that my every desire was met. She actually came to my wedding to ensure that everything went off perfectly. Although I had not arranged for flowers, at the last minute we decided it would look nice to have flowers- she took care of them perfectly and instantaneously (I think she had planned ahead even if I hadn't!). She even acted as one of the four servers for our 13 person party! The housekeepers were also phenomenal! They were always available at the villa, they would come early and be there until early evening ensuring that everything was immaculate and functioning properly. They helped to arrange taxis when we needed them and even sprayed around the villa to kill as many mosquitoes as possible. I cannot speak highly enough about our experience at this villa- it made our wedding absolutely perfect. The only negative I could comment on, which is not a negative to the villa at all, just a warning to anyone else traveling to Florence in late July/early August- the mosquitoes are brutal. Bring spray.
