About Erica Helling
We met in Yosemite National Park eleven years ago. Erica came out to Yosemite from Kentucky to work for the National Park Service Bighorn Sheep program. Josh moved to the Yosemite area in 1991 to work as a rock climbing guide, ski instructor and photographer. We are raising our two children in the Merced River Canyon below Yosemite.
Erica Helling purchased this House in 2013
Why Erica Helling chose Bootjack
We love the rolling foothills of Mariposa and wanted to find a place to one day move our family to. We looked at many properties but this one spoke to us. From the moment we pulled up we felt a sense ease and look forward to one day living here. We also like that it is close to the amenities that the quaint town of Mariposa, and Oakhurst have to offer.
What makes this House unique
The sense of peace and calm that washes over you when you are at this location is what drew us to this property. We could picture retiring here just fine.

Great Yosemite Basecamp
This cozy cabin is very clean and situated about 1.5 hours drive from Yosemite Valley. Great kitchen to cook in and perfect amount of room for a family of 4. Less than 10 minute drive to grocery store and some great restaurants in Mariposa.
Will definitely stay here again next time we come out to Yosemite.
Erica has a beautiful place and she is extremely accomadating
Excellent condition. Beautiful.
Lovely, quiet getaway
We had a great stay at this property the first week of November. It is was so calming and quiet! Everything was neat and clean and we had all we needed for simple meals and a good night's sleep! The property is high on a hill and has great views of the surrounding area during the day and thousands of starts at night! The road up the hill was a little rough, but well worth it!
A beautiful, convenient setting
The Mariposa house is magazine beautiful, with spacious rooms and windows for days. I almost wish we had less outings planned so we could enjoy the house more :-) Three of us stayed for three nights, the beds were very comfortable, we all slept better than home. It was a scenic drive to the Yosemite Valley one of the days we were there and another we ventured to the Sequoia National Park that is about 2 hours South. It was the perfect location to hit both of these historic national parks. One evening we picked up BBQ takeout at a quaint place in Bootjack that was just a few minutes drive. Another evening we ate at a brewery in Oakhurst that was about a 30 minute drive away.
Beautiful and quiet property!
We fell in love with the property through the pictures, but the actual place blown us away. Everything was beautifully decorated and clean, Lots of property. The lovely deck and a nice gas grill were a nice features. The kitchen was nicely stock with cooking essential such as seasoning and oil. The walls are thin but everything else made it for it. The property is located about 15 minutes outside the main town of Mariposa and about 20 minutes to Oakhurst. Weloved it and can't wait to be back.
A wonderful place
We loved the Mariposa retreat house! The quiet setting on top of the mountain was so relaxing after visiting crowded Yosemite. The large windows created a light-filled space, and there was much roominess. The wraparound deck was perfect for eating, relaxing, and sky gazing at night. The kitchen was fully furnished and made meal preparation easy. The king mattress was heavenly!
Thank you, Erica, for the suggestion of leaving early in the morning to visit Yosemite. We were able to avoid the worst crowds by being "early birds". We would certainly return to this house again if ever given the chance!
