The holiday home is located in the middle of the UNESCO biosphere reserve "Elbtalauen", in the Elbe-Brandenburg river landscape, directly on the Elbe long-distance cycle path. Various catering establishments along the Elbe cycle path cater for your physical well-being. On the cycle tours you will discover otters, beavers, many duck species, swans, white and black storks, ravens, white-tailed eagles, cranes, great white egrets and other rare birds and plant species. There are several opportunities for swimming in the surrounding area, e.g. the thermal baths in Gartow, Lake Gartow, the thermal baths in Bad Wilsnack and the harbour mile in Dömitz. Take a steamboat trip on the Elbe or Elde. It is possible to plan a day trip by steamer on the Elbe to Hamburg and visit Dömitz Fortress with its harbour facilities. Or you can visit Schwerin, the castle complex in Ludwigslust, Lenzen Castle with the "Man and River" exhibition of the European Centre for Floodplain Ecology, the Rüterberg Village Republic, the Borderland Museum in Schnackenburg or the stork village of Rühstedt. You can go shopping in Lenzen or Dömitz, 8 km away. The very large and fenced property is located between a few other, naturally kept farms in pure greenery. You can relax in the shade of an ancient oak tree and watch the small flock of sheep, swallows and many other birds. Rest surrounded by rose arches, listen to the frog concerts in the evening, or sit on the bench at the top of the dyke and watch the nature of the Elbwerder with the beavers and storks through your own binoculars. Or watch one or two lorries or passenger ships passing by on the Elbe.In front of the front door is a small terrace where you can have breakfast in the sun in the morning or spend the evening in the shade. You enter the house through a small veranda, which is also furnished with a bench, armchairs and a small shelf. Through the inner front door you enter the large hallway, which leads to the guest WC, living room and kitchen. In the bright living room with TV corner and the adjoining seating area for 6 - 8 people, you will find glasses and several collections of games in the cupboards. You can light a cosy fire in the tiled stove. On the upper floor are the 2 bedrooms and the bathroom. In the large bedroom you will find a double bed, 1 single bed and a cot as an extra bed, a wardrobe and an armchair with a small table, for reading lamps by the bed. From the windows you can see the dike towards Dömitz and the river Elbe, in the smaller bedroom there is a double bed (1.40 x 2m) possibly an extra bed for children, 2 wardrobes and an open shelf with many books. Through the telescope you can watch the Elbe meadows, the river and the dyke with the cyclists. Both bedrooms have 1 fly window and can be darkened. The bathroom is equipped with bathtub, shower, WC, washbasin and hairdryer. Towels are also provided for guests. In the large kitchen with dining area for 6-8 people, equipped with light-coloured kitchen furniture, you will find a 4-burner cooker with oven and extractor fan, refrigerator with freezer compartment, sufficient china and kitchen utensils for 6-8 people, coffee machine, toaster, baking utensils, kettle, waffle iron, ironing board with iron and much more. The dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer are located in the utility room next to the kitchen.The small terrace is equipped with garden furniture and parasol. Children can play safely in the fenced yard with a large lawn. Dogs can run free. Please keep the gates with the goats and sheep closed, the animals are fed and cared for by a neighbour. From the fenced garden area a gate leads directly to the dyke with a bench to linger and to watch the sunset and the evening flights of birds and geese with the house's own binoculars, or to take a walk in the evening sun, where you can also start your bike tours towards Dömitz or Lenzen.The Lenzener Elbtalauen, a transnational biosphere reserve, is the "river landscape" Elbe: an ideal opportunity for nature-loving visitors to spend their holiday, whether sunny stork time or wild goose time, whether on foot, by bike or by canoe.The Green Belt, valuable biotope areas along the former German/German border, is part of the National Natural Heritage. The former border river "Elbe" characterises this area. Along the river you will find wet meadows and remnants of floodplain forests, behind Lenzen the wide floodplains can be observed from the dyke. Lapwings and grey geese can be seen there, as well as Arctic geese and whooper swans in winter. The railway bridge, destroyed in 1945, and the only completely preserved pentagonal lowland fortress in northern Germany, Dömitz Fortress, can be explored by bike. The "village of Rüterberg", also located near Dömitz, is a community in the former border area that was completely fenced in from 1967 to 1989 and could only be reached via a road secured by a barrier, which you can learn about on a signposted circular route.not far from Dömitz, you can hike the highest inland dune in the Elbe valley, which is over 40 metres high, on designated paths. Or you can drive towards Ludwigslust (castle complex, railway station) or further towards the state capital of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Schwerin, and visit the town or the castle.
