Description of the villageThe Walser village of Schmitten (1300 metres above sea level) lies in the heart of Graubünden between Lenzerheide and Davos, above the world-famous Landwasser Viaduct. The Albula Valley, which lies in the "Parc Ela" nature park, is surrounded by a beautiful, striking mountain landscape. In summer and winter alike, there are many opportunities to be active or simply relax in peace and quiet. Schmitten has a village shop and a butcher's shop.Places of interest
- High above the Albula Valley lies our baroque parish church of All Saints (built around 1470) with its Gothic bell tower, and behind it the small Romanesque Luzius Chapel (built around 800) with its frescoes, which are known as "The Bible of the Poor".
- Landwasser Viaduct: A UNESCO World Heritage Site and can be reached on foot in 30 minutes during the snow-free months.
